  1. Hi Elmo

Not enough words in all the world's languages can adequately describe your level of detail, accurate workmanship and altruism in sharing your skills with all of us here.

What strikes me most is how you manage to cut those differently shaped members of each detail part that you build so cleanly and accurately.

God Bless you for that and Thanks.

    Regards

    Alex

  2. Hi Chuck

Congrats on finishing this build. To say that it was a pleasure to follow you through this, would be a gross understatement so I'll simply say, Thanks for having taken the time to provide us with so many tips and opportunities to learn from your experiences, at the same time as entertaining us with your high modelling skills and results. Truly Amazing.

Whilst looking forward to your next build, may I take the opportunity to wish you, your family and all your loved ones, a Merry Christmas and a most Prosperous New Year.

From Malta, the small but sunny island in the Mediterranean......

  3. Belated Happy Birthday Chuck.

Beautiful Eagles. Awesome Pictures.....I was wondering...are you collecting references for a future F-15 build :whistle:/>/>/> ?

    Best wishes from Malta

PS. I took your advice and bought myself the Rivet Master Beading tool from UMM. It is truly a great tool for riveting and guess what....the tools even fit in my MR Hobby Riveting tool, albeit rather longer that the ones supplied with the tool itself- However if used carefully, the twist action of the Mr Hobby Tool will not be hindered in any way by the extra length of the Rivet Master tools. The great advantage is the wider range of tools available with the Rivet Master set. Thanks again for your help.

  4. Awesome work, finish and detail.

May I suggest a little more weathering that will certainly enhance the model especially around the nozzles and bare metal areas in the back. That area does seem a bit too clean, shall we say. The same goes for the insides of the air-brake wells and the wheel wells. These generally attract a lot of grime and dirt. However, sir, that is up to your discretion. It certainly does not detract any of the fine level of craftsmanship that you've attained with this build. I especially love the riveting work - I am doing the same to a 1/32 F-5 and it's got me worn out - you did it in 1/48th scale - amazing!!!

Best wishes and indeed thanks for sharing this with us.

    Congrats and regards

  5. Hi Chuck

Thanks again for taking the time to explain so patiently. I can see that it takes more than one try to get the wanted results, whatever tool is used. The Mega Tool seems quite versatile and as for the RB Productions riveter, I too can vouch that they are superb in providing a good initial guide. Obviously in scales like 1:32nd you need to deepen the rivets produced to obtain the desired effect.

Thanks again Chuck. I'll be looking for your further updates in this magnificent build and for future projects.

  6. Hi Chuck

I am truly amazed at your attention to detail and of your skills at attaining that fine level of detail in your modelling. Thanks also for sharing your knowledge in such a way as to inspire anyone to learn and in doing so, better their skills.

The last pictures of the front of the a-10 and also of the Phantom (when you were discussing the 50/50 Future/Windex mix) that you posted made me come forward for the first time on this forum and if you don't mind I'd like to ask you for some advice. This regarding riveting (obviously not the Archer ones - :coolio:/> ).

I had purchased the Mr.Rivet Marking tool by Mr.Hobby, which comes with 3 size punches. You select which size you require and insert it into the tool which when pressed against the kit will revolve on itself clockwise till you reach the set level and then revolve counter clockwise when you release the pressure and return to the original state of the tool, thus marking a rivet.

I had read, earlier in this build that you use the Mega Tool rivet punches set and in mind I see that the twisting action that you do with the palm of your hand resembles very much the action done by the Mr.Hobby Tool - except maybe for the counter clockwise action.

What is worrying me is that when I tried to use this tool, it created a burr on the outer edge of each punched rivet much in the same manner as most scribers do for straight lines, forcing me to have to sand the whole area and re-punch again - which is tiring to say the least, let alone time consuming.

So if I may ask - do you experience this kind of problem with your method, and if it is not too much trouble AND if you haven't already done so (and I've missed it :bandhead2:/> ), could you please give a short point form tutorial (in your usual inspiring fashion) on your method of how to produce such clear and neat rivets?

I thank you again for your time in reading this message and send my best wishes to you for this and for future projects.

  7. Hi Guys

whilst on the subject, I'm trying to gather up information about the RN Sea King AEW2 or ASaC7. I have a project in mind to build the Hasegawa Sea King + Flightpath detail set for the AEW2 with an opened troop door and therefore showing the detail inside the cabin.

Would anyone kindly help me by providing any information, written or preferably in picture form of the arrangement that one can find in the cabin (i.e in the back area where I know that radar equipment and operator's console are set) of this Sea King type.

I managed to get some info from http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/howard_m...ndex.php?Page=1 of the area in the immediate vicinity of the front port door, but can't find any info as to what lies further back to there. :crying2:

So if anyone has that kind of information and is willing to kindly share it, or can simply point me in a right direction to such knwledge, I'd be most obliged and thankful. :)

Best wishes from Malta in Europe

  8. Hi to everyone

Please help!! I am planning to build the AEW version of the Sea King in 1/48th. I have both the Revell and the Hasegawa offerings together with the Cutting Edge shortened sponsons, the Flightpath conversion set (with the deflated radome etc) and the Model Alliance decal sheet for UK Sea Kings.

I wish to open up the right hand cabin door and construct the radar units to which the large side deflated radome is connected together obviously with the rest of the interior details.

I have sifted through Airliners.net, Jetphotos.net, did endless searches on Google etc, for possible pictures of the interior of an AEW2 but I found very little material that could help me to draw up enough insight and reference to do an acceptable job.

In fact I found a few photos on Airliners.net that barely show the radar units however no other details. The ARC walkaround of the Sea King did yield some good references but again I'm afraid not enough.

At this point I turn to ask your support, fellow helo modelers.

If anyone has images or drawings or could lead me to any good source of such information, could you please come forth in my aide!!!

    Thanks in advance

    Alex
