  1. Have four of them, three kits only have two Model Graphix magazines each (issue 07 & 08) other one does not come with any kind of magazine, boxes were open to inspect their contents, bags and everything else contained are still sealed

Asking 45€ each for the magazine less boxes and 55ish € each for the ones with magazines.

Cheapest shipment option up to 2kg with no tracking Postamail Internazionale, delivery times do vary from 10 to 25 workings days, maybe more depending on local custom offices

    13,50€ for Europe

23 for the US & co

27,50€ for Asia, Australia & co

They increased prices way too much but with tracking we have Raccomandata Internazionale up to 2kg delivery times will be around to 5 up to 15 working days

    28,45€ for Europe

Outside Europe prices are ludicrous 40,30€ for the US and 50,90€ for Australia

Then Pacco Ordinario Internazionale once again with tracking and a whole lot of twists

Price goes up to 3kg as sadly the weight of those three boxes with 2 magazines is around 1,1kg plus ~0.5kg of package

29€ for Europe minus Bulgaria (32€), United Kingdom (27€), Norway (34€)

34€ for United States, Canada and Russia

    47€ for Australia

Lastly Poste Delivery Europe on which price starts from 35,15€ for Switzerland and Norway 36,60€ for Germany, Poland and Protugal, 37,21€ for France, Croatia and Spain, Lithuania,Estonia and UK 37,21

I've done the same, well, with Mr Color Thinner. As noted, doesn't harm the model.

Chrome needs to be stripped to remove the underlying clearcoat that obscures detail. Do the gold parts suffer the same issue? If not, perhaps just prime and apply the finish coats?

    Dude! 😱

    I called it the T1000nator

I have the same problem for some motorcycle kit parts.   You can use over cleaner, bleach, DOT-3 brake fluid, or even Coke as recommended here.   Haven't gotten around to testing any of them, though.

    https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234944896-removing-chrome-plating/

Maybe give it a try and let us know your results?

I have no problems with chrome parts, it's the gold ones that are pissing me off, same thing for Toyota GT One I sprayed with Red Tamiya Acrylic can nearly 20 years ago and the paint doesn't want to go off

  4. I have turned my terrace on a open top chemical lab as I unsuccessfully tried to strip Tamiya Acrylic spray paint, some other HW Store acrylic paint both with isopropyl alcohol, then with a bath of caustic soda then I also used the strongest de-greaser made before the EU laws started to care about this planet and its people health yet that dang paint is still winning...now I have another problem as Fujimi and Aoshima from time to time decide to plate parts with a gold tint aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand caustic soda isn't doing the job, it barely scratched Fujimi gold paint and didn't do a single dent on Aoshima one.

What's the trick to get rid of it considering the fact that the mixture I made is so strong that melts silver plating in a matter of seconds?

    Hi Gene K,

Sorry I have no idea! :dontknow:   :dontknow:  :dontknow:  The best suggestion I can make is to build something else for the moment and not a MiG-17!

The last ones I have built in 72nd were the prehistoric KP and the Hasegawa example (was it about 40 or so years ago). They were the only ones around then.

Have been waiting for a good MiG-17 kit for some time, I think I will have to wait for a little longer.

The same situation was with the MiG-15, there was nothing for so many years (decades) then eventually with the third go at it Eduard did manage to make one. It is pretty good although not what I would say “Mother of all MiG-15’s” but a good build (actually it is on my workbench at the moment). :coolio: :coolio:

I think I have said it somewhere here before that I was really looking forward to this kit with the knowledge that Airfix is using some of the latest 3D scan technology which has some great potential in it. Sad, really sad!!! And I don’t really understand what went on at Airfix with this project. :bandhead2:  :bandhead2:  :bandhead2:

If I was to build one of those Polish Lim fighter bombers (which I will never)  with missile blocks and pylons it is possible that I would consider buying this kit but only as a source of spare parts for those pylons and maybe the open airbrake but nothing more (it would be an expensive “spares box”). Add them to another manufacturers MiG-17 kit and you have the Polish version.  Even then you will have to scratch build the typical Polish brake chute housing which is not included in the Airfix kit.

Actually there is one puzzling thing in this kit. Parts 12 and 13 on Frame B. What is that? I could not fit them anywhere on the kit! They look like standard Oil drums. What are they for???

I am sure there is a very simple explanation for this (or the Airfix guys had one of Baldrick's very cunning plans behind this ) and only my stupidity prevents me from seeing it.  😊

    Best regards

    Gabor

I remember seeing pics of  parked Migs and probably other aircrafts maybe a Tornado with drums and tires stacked a little behind their center of gravity, who knows maybe Airfix accidentally scanned a fuel drum thinking it was part of the plane and included it, would be fun it that thing turns to be more accurate than their entire model 😄

There is much written on this site about the usage and matching of FS 36375 and 36320. However, I have yet to see anything on the history of the colors or their name. Who first determined that none of the available gray colors were what was needed for fighters anymore? What was the process for finding new colors that would do the job? What other colors were tried, and what type of experiments were done to ensure their effectiveness (I'm sure there were some test planes painted in one-off schemes - pics please!!)? What were the first aircraft with an official technical order mandating their use? How did they get the name "compass ghost", even unofficially?

Any real data at all is better than speculation. I'm thinking that if anyone at all knows, it will be someone with connection to this site. Thanks!

If you are looking for one off schemes

F-16 FSD one was painted in a compass-ghost~camouflage while a two seater and another single seater were painted in a better Hill scheme that was never applied

F-4D Coonass Militia one had an F-15ish inspired scheme other two or three were randomly painted

F-4C/D ROKAF I don't know how many of them served with that camouflage, Cutting Edge had one decal set with that

F-4EJ Kai I think it was applied after they parted ways with the grey/white scheme

F-104G/S AMI Reparto Sperimentale 37-23 camouflage was similar to JDASF F-104J 635 655 706 etc scheme

    A-7D possibly?

A-10 maybe ab FSD with experimental scheme?

  7. they should just stop pulling "instant Hasegawa'ed" for any given newer tool they release cause that way of doing it's what is making people like me lose interest.

I have no interests on buying their FW-190A if the A5 through A9/F9 lineup is incomplete, I would rather go after Hasegawa or Kora kits

A newer and complete Mig-21 family in 1/72 was needed, but I don't freaking need 23i9034902342390834901233901238029381209312 MF boxes

  8. I'm somehow having big problems locating those juicy zip lock bags of yours, even Amazon and Ebay are a whole jungle of ifs, the company whom once made them seems to be out of business or decided to drop the 15cm x 24cm ~line.

I don't need an industrial amount of them, around 100/150 (good quality not chinese clones) will probably be enough for me so I'm searching for a shop whom stocks and ships them to Italy.

  9. Italeri has one Esci kit bundled with their Tomcat, I think it's the basic version with no drop tanks and weapons as the past Aggressor boxing

From time to time a Ebay seller from UK was dumping its A-4G collection at lower prices and the A-4G comes with weapon and drop tank sprues

Trade groups I'm not sure, on Facebook I'm kinda in all italian trading groups but I barely spot Esci kits being sold, foreign groups for me seems to be a get out of here stalker

  10. It has the later block 15? stabs, be aware while fumbling with that x shaped piece of crap inside engine nozzles as AMT plastic is so soft that cutting it down without harmful intentions will possibly damage the feathers.

Esci kits #9026 #9028 #9041 had earlier stabs, there is a chance that some boxes made during ERTL merge receive late stabs, otherwise by using Scalemates timeline

    https://www.scalemates.com/kits/esci-9026-f-16a-fighting-falcon--130386

Middle line and bottom line all come with late stabs,GBU extra Sidewinder pylons and so on 😄

  11. Sarcasm on

They will finally announce that they are working to release the complete F-16 family on both scales?

They will announce their very special 1/72 F-14D Tomcat and completely skip A early, A late and B variants just to make 1/72 people sad like they did for the F-16 and the 1/48 crowd?

    Another BF-109?

A freaking 1/32/5/whatever Tiger to resurrect Aeris?

Tamiya is the Baghdad Bob of the scale modelling industry
