  1. Hi, I'm about to build the hasegawa A-37 dragonfly, but the cockpit is awful. Does anyone know what the seats used in these aircraft were and if you can get any resin/white metal ones? Failing that, any tips on how to improve the cockpit for this build. Thanks Tim
  2. Looking forward to this one! Love the typhoon, the two seater is the best version too. Nice one. Tim
  3. After a totally brilliant trip to the US last year with my father, to visit the USAF museum at Wright Patt and US NAVY one in Pensacola, I came back with loads of ideas to build some amazing planes, this was one of them! Luckily, the kit decals include the aircraft from Edwards (were they all based there?) so I HOPE this is eligiable. The Italeri kit was a limited edition one, and is a pretty simple affair. Not many main pieces though you will have some seem filling to do on the underside due to the breakdown of the kit. The cockpit is pretty basic but the control panels are well moulded wit
  4. I take back what I said about sanding, after a coat of primer, the problems are highlighted! Not too bad really, just more sanding around the underside, along the major parts seams and although the cockpit and engines fit well, they still require a rub over to remove the join lines (nothing too out of the ordinary but I did get a step along the top of the canopy. My friend didn't have any major sanding to do on his, so it's probably just my dodgy building! A few progress shots for you. I would have liked to have sprayed more but I have to spray outside and it wont stop snowing!
  5. Well, I have a stash of the Hasegawa Edwards AFB kits, but for this I am going to do the red and white A-37 Dragonfly. Also, does the Edwards YF-12A count, I would love to do this also? Cheers Tim
  6. Hi, Given up on Ebay, would rather sell to you guys. That way there is a chance these things will actually get built! The Buckeye is the matchbox kit wth the greek decals as well as US Navy. Mil-26 is the SF moulding, will be a BIG helicopter when built and I dont have the room. The tornado is Italeri F3. Price as follows Buckeye £8 pending Tornado £5 sold Mil 26 £15 pending would consider a trade for modern jets of equal value. Cheers Tim I can do paypal or cheques (would rather a cheque actually if you are in the uk) I will only charge actual postage, PM me for c
  7. oh,thats what it is! It looked pretty similar to what was on the wing of a 1/48 review phantom. I got it from the intruder (or prowler) kit. Cheers.Tim
  8. Hi, Well I was suckerd into buying the Heller f-4D??, thinking 'great, finally a short nosed phantom', no such luck. Its the old f-4e moulds that nearly every manufacturer has sold. Now I come to think of it I think I have made this mistake before. Anyway, as a distraction from my C-17 I thought I would stick it together anyway and do euro1 f-4e, I scanned the decals from a 1/72 hasegawa kit (cheers Tony) and got stuck in. I didn't add any detail to the cockpit, which I knd of regret now as I would normaly at least add belts, but as this was a quick build (2 days), I thought I wouldn't bother.
  9. Time for a quck up date. I have stuck the 'outer shell' around 'the inner tube' which make up the fuselage,I have also stuck the wings, tailplane and widscreen area on. The fit in general is pretty good but I did find that the bottom portion of the fuselage which comes as another seperate piece, was a little short on one side at the front. It didn't seem to be because of fit or build problem as the rear part matched up perfectly around the base of the ramp, weird! Nothing a bit of filler couldnt sort, the wings went on ok, you have to be carefull as you can end up with a bit of a step, but pre
  10. That looks awesome! Great weathering, wish my tomcats looked like that!
  11. Finished hobby Boss Sabre by my daughter Izzy, age 6. She hope's you like it. coming in to land! Izzy wants to tell you that the pilot is in orange in case he crashes in the sea! (so now you know!)
  12. So Izzy has finished, with a few days to spare! She really enjoyed this, and so did I! She did all the painting, glueing and decalling herself. All I did for her was stick the legs on and mask the canopy and camoflage lines, oh and we found an old pilot in the spares box, he had to have a bit of cosmetic surgery to fit though!. The HobbyBoss easy kits are great way of getting youngsters into our hobby, so easy to build but still letting them paint and do the decals themselves (unlike Revell's easy kits). We are thinking of entering some other group builds together. Anyway, hope you like her sa
  13. Great looking A4, one of those aircraft that looks good in almost any colours. Good job mate . Tim :)
  14. Cheers mate, still got two weeks for that bucc!
  15. Finished 1/144 EA-6A Intruder, hope you like it. Tim
  16. Finished the intruder, and before the deadline, hurrah's alround! It was not to bad a build, took way longer than expected but I am quite pleased with the results. Hope you all like it, I will post Izzy's sabre when she has finished. Not done any to it today, she said she had to go to school, excuses! Just like to add these group builds are great, it actually gets me to finish the kits I start (eventually) and seeing all the other builds from like minded people is awesome. Thanks to you guys for hosting them, must take up a lot of your time but, I for one really appreciate it.
  17. Time for an up date. Not got to far yet, I spent ages painting the inside, trying to remember what it looks like on the inside from when I used to work on them, but mostly using the awesome walkround pictures I found on the tinternet. I detailed the loadmasters station, put in some control boxes on the side walls all the way down as these are the controls for the pallet locks, did some more random detail and.....once together you cant see a thing, b***er! Never mind I had fun (sick I know!). I painted the wheels, couldn't really see if the legs should be grey or white, it looks like a combina
  18. Awesome! Love the phantom and love the colours! I really need to build one now, bang goes my new years resolution to stay away from Ebay! Tim
  19. Hi, well it's been a while but I am ready for an update. I was distracted from the build by a 1/48 panther and a concord , but I have finally done some work to the intruder. Izzy has also nearly finished her sabre! I dont think I will get the f-117 and connie done for this build unfortunatly, but hopefully I can do them for another one down the line somewhere. Anyway, I have painted the intruder (badly) and stuck the wings back on in the folded position. I have also detailed the cockpit a little, added some new seats etc. I did two grab handles per seat originally but, after a visit to the
  20. Yes it is and its amazing. I met Scott recently and he is such a nice guy too!
  21. Hi, Well I think i'll throw my lot in with a C-17 (for a change). Will do it with some sort of load ,not sure what yet but it may have rotor blades. I will also try and do a 1/144 starlifter that I have been waiting for an excuse to build. Want to make sure I get in early as it takes me ages to build anything and I forgot to post before I finished on the airliner build and couldn't enter (teach me for not reading the rules first!). Oh yeah, the C-17 will have the ED codes as I do have a penchant for those aircraft, the starlifter will probably be the white and grey version and if I get done
  22. No Probs, I started about a week ago but didn't finish until today, but didn't post till this evening. My fault totally. No problem if it cant be entered, just feels good to actually finish a kit!
  23. Hello mate I have found using a scanner and water slide decal paper works well, if you can scan decals from another scale and resize them using any photo programme and you can usually come up with something workable. Ive added a few examples from my collection. Regards Tim
  24. Thanks, I've never done an aircraft in flight before so im quite pleased with it. Thanks again for your kind post, I may even try another civil jet (I should really as I work for an airline!)
