  1. My "reasonable" (as in no good reason we don't already have them) wish list 1/72 (sorry I like the little guys so I can buy lots of them, my list my prefered scale ) I'll start with my these are so common in 1-1 that its hard to believe they don't have multiple kits Bell 206 Jet Ranger Bell 206L3 Long Ranger Eurocopter AS350B3 (ok, so Heller did an AS350 in 1/50, I want one in 1/72) Not as common but still surprising we don't have a kit Bell 407 MD900 Up and coming aircraft in both military and civilian use so maybe we'll get lucky. AW139 Sikorsky S92 Now that they are aging its
  2. There seems to be a ton of aftermarket decals for fixed wing, both military and civilian subjects, but not so much for helicopters. Fireball Modelworks and Belcher bits are the only ones I know of and Belcher bits is more of a Canadian specialist that includes a few helicopters. I have some sets from Fireball and Belcher bits and they have good stuff just wondering what else might be out there. I primarily build in 1/72 but other scales would be worth mentioning as they are good for ideas and I do occasionally get the urge to try something a bit bigger. Thanks
  3. I just started one of those Hobbyboss UH-34s too. I didn't get far enough to even notice the rotors issue, but I prefer the Italeri kit so far as well. I only got the Hobbyboss kit because it has the earlier style landing gear, but since the Italeri kits have a seperate nose you could easily make the earlier style UH-34 by putting the nose from the UH-34 on one of the Wessex kits. You could then get a Cobra company S58T conversion for the noseless UH-34 kit so you wouldn't have a left over kit from the kit bash. I'm rather surprised Italeri hasn't caught on to this and offered a UH34A-D to
  4. That German Seaking has quite the paint scheme. It would make a great model but its well beyond my skills.
  5. Perhaps it is to enforce the red cross? Don't shoot us and we won't turn you into a smoking crater. Considering how many nations seem to ignore the red cross markings I guess I can't really fault a red cross and rockets policy depeding on its use (treachery no, self defence I would allow a little wiggle room). I know the British started shooting down red cross marked German air sea rescue planes in WW2 after finding some dropping mines in the channel and carrying recon equipment so its been going on for awhile even in more "civilized" times.
  6. That's a skycrane operator I haven't run across before.
  7. Oh well thanks anyway, they are different than most I've seen of the period. Most base fire apparatus in the 50's were based on the 2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks.
  8. I know they don't have wings, but do you by chance have any more pics of the fire engines from some of the pics? I have a thing for military fire apparatus.
  9. AS350B3 Bell 205A++ "Super Huey" That's it for now, I'll have to load some of my older pics
  10. Bell 412 another Lama AS350B2

  13. The door stops / latches are different on the 205 vs UH-1's shown in this post. I had a look at ours this morning but didn't have a chance to take any pics. It looked more like a sliding door on a van. Of course if you are building a UH-1 so these pics are more use to you, but could the more complicated latches you saw have been on a civilian 205?
  14. Thanks a lot, after starting the USCG H-19 I got from you, I liked the kit so much I picked up 3 more of the Italeri version. Now I don't think I got enough...
  15. I'd like to get in on this, I'll resist making a decision on what until it starts, because I know if I say then I'll get an urge to build it right now, and either start or lose all motivation to build until I can. I'll just say 1/72 and most likely from Italeri.
  16. I built that kit OOB a couple years ago, its not bad but like the others have mentioned the interior detail is minimal and it has big windows to show off the interior. I have another one I started and bought the Cobra Company kit for it. Sure the resin kit costs 4x as much as I paid for the model but its worth it. Very nice and those big windows make it worth the effort. I kind of got stalled on the build but have a couple shots of the Cobra Co. cockpit assembled. I don't really think I've done the conversion justice, someone who took their time could really make this stand out. Still conside
  17. I'm building that same kit, but am using the USCG colors. I did do some looking around for other ideas though. The S-55 / UH-19 has a lot of options. Of course there is the alternate scheme included in the kit. That USCG scheme looks great but what a pain to apply, I think I had to use 1/2 a bottle of Microsol to get them to lay down right. The orange / white scheme in the kit was actually a late style for the helo, it was adopted only a few years before the helicopter was retired. The earlier scheme was an overall yellow-orange (kind of schoolbus yellow). I don't know of a specific decal se
