  1. It is a good idea, but the wiki definition is kind of confusing. My read of it would rule out a bush plane, sight seeing aircraft and air shuttles like the helicopters used to fly crews out to oil rigs (transportation for hire) which are some of the more interesting options for me. I suppose GA does include non-military government owned / leased aircraft? Thinking customs, coast guard, police etc? Interested but my yes requires more information. Depending on the response you may need to consider expanding it to a broader civil aviation GB and capture the commercial stuff too. It can be tou
  2. That is very nice. I've built myself a similar but smaller case using wood, but the stainless looks really sharp.
  3. For too many options for me to commit to one this far out, but in the naval realm there is no reason to limit oneself to PBRs and Swiftboats. There were a huge number of ships serving off the coast of Vietnam, aircraft carriers, a battleship (BB62 New Jersey) and a slew of others.
  4. Vince any idea on the time frame you are aiming for, Sept, January, later? I certainly hope so as most of my initial ideas are WW2 ish. I've got several Chinese options in the stash and am thinking about a Thai Curtis Hawk III which were used first against the French and later against the Japanese.
  5. I know this is an April Fools, but I'm going to tuck it away with some of the neat but disproven schemes. It would make a striking model of a Spitfire.
  6. I'd really like to do the Heller Bentley Blower, but it looks like a lot of work (as does the Fujimi '73 Porsche Carrera RS), and I want to ensure I finish something for the GB... So I'm going to start off with something a little easier. If that goes well, then I'll see about jumping into the Bentley. I assume a Shelby Cobra 427 ranks as a supercar? I've got the Monogram kit sitting here, so I'll be jumping into it unless I'm told the Cobra isn't super enough.
  7. I've got a few prior SAR builds Italeri SH-19A / HH-19A USAF Air Rescue Service Italeri HO4S-3G US Coast Guard Revell Germany HH-19G US Coast Guard Revell Germany (Matchbox) HH-65A US Coast Guard
  8. We are on the calendar with a September start date.
  9. Apparently they actually paid attention to the H. M. Government Public Service Films No. 42 How Not To Be Seen. Their stealth is so good we can't see it.
  10. Lots of real world issues have kept me away, and will likely continue to rear their ugly head but I really want to do this so I'm going to keep it simple. Italeri 1/72 UH-1F from the USAF 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service, stationed out of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. I was a little skeptical about the authenticity of this decal option, but have managed to find one in service photo of a UH-1F from Ellsworth in ARRS markings to confirm they were used in this role.
  11. Doctors at a golf course? This story got the trainer part right http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/harrison-ford-injured-plane-crash-n318301 Sounds like the injuries are survivable.
  12. I think there is a resin cab available in 1/25 which could get you started, but would entail a fair bit of scratchbuilding. They don't include photos but this vender is highly regarded in the model car world. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4247 and yes, you are correct the M715 wouldn't be "postwar" in the standard use of late 40s, I just meant after WW2. With only a few exceptions soft skins tend to be either WW2 or 1990s and newer. The soft skins of Korea, Vietnam and even 1980s are poorly represented in kits or even resin. I've seriously considered using a paper model of an M37 as
  13. I like the idea, particularly if we had some experienced vac kit builders involved to help out those of us lacking experience with these kits. Unfortunately it seems like every time I've seen a GB with this theme they always seem to flop rather spectacularly. Voted yes, there is always hope the next time will be a success.
  14. Sort of, Revell did a 80s Jeep Honcho in 1/25 that with a fair bit of work could probably be turned into an M-715. There is a glaring lack of post war soft skins.
  15. Great idea. I like the idea of a less often seen groupbuild (which should probably also include the USSR despite the fact it was definitely a major player), but with the focus on the smaller air forces I would think that would put Australia, Canada and France out. As far as France, in 1940 it was a major airforce, but after the defeat of France I would think including the considerably smaller Free French and Vichy French air forces would be appropriate. I would also think it would make sense to include some of the neutral powers, like Spain, Turkey, Portugal and Switzerland. They were not
  16. No I think they are on to something. We need more P-51s, I've seen it on TV best fighter ever built. You need further proof, when we had prop driven fighters hundreds of US pilots became aces, since the move to jets, what maybe a couple dozen have received that honor? Clearly props are better... Don't bother, I'll get the door on the way out.
  17. OD also varies by material, metal on a tank or aircraft vs cloth on a seat or fatigues on a soldier. I like the shade of Tamiya's OD for freshly painted aircraft or armor, but that is just my personal preference, no science behind it. I like Model Master's lighter shade of OD for cloth bits or weathered OD on vehicles.
  18. I was getting the same thing. Nothing was coming up with my malware or virus software, but clearing my cookies seems to have gotten rid of it.
  19. I used a tool box and a round laminated piece of wood about 18" in diameter as my work area when I lived in an apartment. The wood protected the kitchen table from the inevitable messes, and I could also put it in my lap allowing me to watch TV while I worked. The tool box had several lift out trays, I used one for tools, one for paint brushes and the bottom held my paints, glue and misc other items too large for the trays.
  20. Dukes of Hazzard? My guess was sort of a police dog too, I think Columbo's Basset was just named Dog.
  21. Is it ok if they have wheels in addition to a non wheeled landing method? I'm thinking amphibians or aircraft that have removable skis fitted over / around their wheels.
  22. All I can suggest is look at toys. I built a Chevy Tahoe K-9 unit last summer and was able to get a 1/25 -ish German Shepard from a toy set (it was a trade, I don't know what set it came from). Michaels has a lot of animal sets that come in tubes, they might have one with dogs. Is this going in a Peugeot by chance?
  23. Don't need to cut anything, congress wrote them a check. It is really an interesting "problem" for the USAF. Threaten to cut the aircraft, and suddenly they got an extra 300 million to pay for it. That was last year, will have to see how it plays out in the next budget.
  24. I've submitted the proposal for the GB. Going with a title of The Graveyard Shift (Night interception / Night attack), and asking for 9/1/15 to 3/1/15. The theme is night operations, fighters, bombers, attack and surveillance aircraft optimized for working in the dark. I've included the last to allow for things like the Blind Bat C-130s used identify and illuminate targets on the Ho Chi Minh trail during the Vietnam war. Prototypes and plausible what ifs will be considered. Rather than make an extensive list of acceptable subjects I suggest people consider the following guidelines: Is the
