  1. I like the rescribing I've got a Revell F-14D on its way.....and it's going to be my first time rescribing as well. What tools did you use?
  2. I'll have to try Mr Softner. I was using Microsol....so maybe that'll do the trick. Great looking model!
  3. Thanks Kai, appreciate the comments. The paint, that was the first time I'd used "blue tac" type stuff, much easier than I thought it would be and turned out great! Have to say thanks to this board, I'd never heard of using it for camo. If I can get a decent camera, maybe I'll get around to taking some good shot's that actually show some detail! Thanks again
  4. Looks great! I finished mine with these same decals a while ago....still need to fix some parts though (I destroyed the left tiger head ) How'd you get your tiger head's to look so smooth. Mine, they turned out looking......thick?
  5. Here's how it turned out......I'd post something in the critique forum, but I really only have the camera built into my Moto Q, which isn't good. I know the stencil decals aren't in the right spots I had an old Microscale decal sheet that I used and the instructions were so hard to read, I just made do and guessed. The rear stabilizers are also being redone, I was dumb when I did them and didn't get the stainless down the leading edges and what not. Tail is also having the red tip painted black to match the pictures I found of the actual plane. I know it's not accurate, but it turned ou
  6. So, I've browsed quite a few Phantom builds on here and have seen a number of you using Aeromaster decals. However, when I've tried to find them listed on Squadron (or anywhere else) I can't find anything at all. Is there another place to order them from or are they just gone? Example is that I can find the plane profile for a Aeromaster set with a stock # of AN48470, but can't find the actual decals listed on their site..... http://www.squadron.com/ProfileDetails.asp?item=AN48470 Am I missing something to finding the actual decals themselves? Help!
  7. Cool, thanks. I know I have an old sheet from Microscale at home, just worried if they are still even good. I checked their site now and didn't find much, still checking the others. Also, are Eaglestrike decals any good? I did find an interesting sheet from them....... http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=EP48267 Last question for today! Are these exhaust replacements worth picking up? The one's that came with this kit are horrible....nothing on the inside really for detail! http://www.internethobbies.com/ahm-4118.html Thanks again.
  8. So, another question..... I'd originally planned on using Twobob's SEA Hero's decals for this plane. However, I failed to realize that they're sold out till today. I looked through all the other Twobob's decals, but nothing else for a F-4E...... What other decal manufacturers are good to check out? Like I've said, I've been out of the game for a long time....trying to play catch up on who's who and where to order stuff.
  9. Blast from the past..... I'm looking for the same sheet.......anyone know of a place that horded these (or person?)? Thanks, Brett
  10. Well, I am glad you all had me check again. Nice scribed intakes! I guess I just focused on the raised one's when I saw them. Brett
  11. 4 more hours and I can check! I hope you're right, I really don't remember seeing a second set, but I could be wrong!
  12. Congrats! I just am about done with my Revell F-15E as well, easy to build and turned out great. Here's a pic of mine, no weathering as I've been on a 10 year hiatus as well, need to practice on something else first before touching this one! ;) Ignore the crappy camera phone quality and the junker in the lower left
  13. I don't "think" there are slots on the stabilzers, but I'm posting from work and can't check it right now. As for the intakes, there's only one set in the kit. I did notice that the fuselage sprue was marked F-4EJ and the intake sprue was only marked as F-4, so....carryover. This was also the case on the sprue containing the cockpit and other items (stabs maybe?) I'll have to check.
  14. That's more like it......it's not the Kai version, just a standard EJ. From the pinned Phantom guide, I thought that might be right, but wanted to make sure. This is the kit..... I've never rescribed anything before, I'm pretty much a noob on a lot of the more technical things that I've seen on here.....but, always willing to learn. Time for another search ;) Thanks again
  15. That's what I figured.....may as well do resin intakes then. On that topic........is there anything special needed when using resin replacements? IE, different glue? I've been using Tamiya Super Thin....would that work? I've never used any resin parts before, so this will be a first!
  16. I thought that might just be the case. As for the Pro Modeler version, do you know if it still has the raised intake lines? And doing a quick Google search didn't turn up much......where do you all buy your kits from? Seems a lot of you replace the intakes no matter what (they aren't very impressive on the kit) so should I not even worry and just buy some resin replacements? I was also thinking I'd replace the exhaust nozzles......but I need to do another search on here first for ideas :) Thanks
  17. Hey everyone... I've been lurking around this forum for a few months now after getting back into jet modeling after a decade hiatus! This forum pretty much has got me back into wanting to build these and get them looking sharp. If I had a better camera (Q doesn't take great shots, I'd show you the TMOTA F-15E I just finished. :)) Anyway, I picked up a 1/48th Hasegawa F-4EJ that I'd like to use as a base for F-4E from the Vietnam War. I have a couple questions though. Everything on the fuselage is inscribed, other than the intakes and rear stabilzers, which seems odd to me. Is that normal fo
