Wow...I'm in love and I'm a no-gun hater...very nice job, very clean! Striking scheme too. Gute Alles am der Gruppemacht!
-
Yes, I've seen boxings of that kit on ebay with a proud proclimation on the front saying "with excocet missiles".
-
But is it realistic, let alone possible for a Tomcat to carry 8000lbs of high-explosive?
-
Looking good so far, glad to see it updated again. BTW Paul, the photo you have for a background in your signature, I had as a desktop background, and I wonder; are those roostertails realistic or optimistic artwork? Anyway, keep it up! Can't wait to see the armamant setups for the Cats. (are you doing the Academy as a mud-mover or an interceptor?) Oh, I remembered something; In Over-G fighters for the Xbox360 (combat sim game, more realistic than Ace-Combat) an option for the F-14B was 4 2000lb laser-guided bombs between the nacells. Is this realistic/possible? -Mike

Hello All. As you know, Italeri is the only maker of a 1:48 Saab Gripen. I have built both versions, single seat and dual-seat. The single seat was my first model...no-one here want so see that train wreck, trust me! Anyway, I bought the Italeri D model after last holiday season and it was half-finished for the past few months. Anyway, here she is, is South African Air Force markings. Not perfect, but one of my better jobs. Here is a main view. One can see that I lost a roundel for below the canopy: From the other side: Here is from a bove, the diamond camoflage is especialy visible:

Just finished last night a 1:48 Italeri Gripen D in SAAF markings with AIM-9's, AIM-120's, and AGM-65's. Hope to have pics in the critique corner when I can get batteries for my digital camera.

Looks like from the second panel line out from the canopy a slight upward slope begins. Not sure id thats supposed to be there, but a few minutes with some sandpaper will even it out necely. On the other hand, you could shim the canopy a bit, looks like a single layer of .010 or .015 will make it look okay.

Wow, very Nice! Love the weathering on it.
-
I've seen them on eBay a couple times, but before I drop $30 on a Zehngdefu I want to be sure of its quality.
-
Wow, so this (1:48, right?) is going to come with the Sniper(?) pod, HTS pod, 4 GBU-12's and a pair of AGM-88's? If the decal sheet has live round markings then I'll be watching reeeal close!

I'm a fan of Taiwan's indiginous fighter aircraft, love its unique design cues and the way it blends the F-16/F-18 together. Zhengdefu is the only maker of this aircraft in 1:48 (OHMYGOODNESS! An original Zhengdefu mold! [faints] ) Anyone built this and weapons aside, what is its quality?
-
Really cool Bug. Love the fuel tanks. I second Gregg's notion that there need to be more Eurohornets built, or Asian ones too(Malasia). Again, really beautiful job!
-
Nice Mil's. It's amazing the detail that 1:32 affords the builder. Great job on them.

What did you get at the Hobby Shop today?
sv51macross replied to Matt Shropshire's topic in General Discussion
1:48 Hasegawa Hellenic Air Force F-16D. $69.99 + tax. They still have one left at the Riders Hobby in Ann Arbor... Also won an Academy F-14A Bombcat on eBay for $14 + $8 S&H. Will become a base for my F-14E/F project... -
Cockpit looks nice so far. If you want nice, finely recessed panel lines, good fit on most joints, and a variety of marking options, then you should go for an Italeri 1:48. I've built three, and aside from not using micro-sol in place of water when doing the decals (trust me, its nessasary), I'm happy with them. Only problem is, none of the four-no, five tornado variants they sell come with those (very nicely painted  ) ALARM missiles. If you ever want to build an ADV, go Italeri. The problem with the base of the tail is not really noticable unless you are either unenlightened (me) or not

 I had a moment like that too. Great find Ben!

Then here you go! Final configuration: Woah, sorry about the awful quality of that one! Yikes, my camera must be on its way out! These are with GBU-24's (ala Revell Eurofighter) and fuel tanks (its a thermonuke turbine, I know, it only needs about 55 gallons of heavy water fuel...but they look cool) And here are with the final winglets, and minus loads: Sorry again for the awful quality. Wil try and get some better photos when I can get batteries for the camera, current ones almost dead. All I really need to do now is to clean it up and make the cowl for the intake. I also have to
-
Yeah, your stash is how many kits you have larger then mine! Glad to see another all-jet modeler, can't wait to see how your build turns out!
-
Sweet bird, nice paint job! I built this kit and found it to be simply great. I also used the German markings for mine, as well as the Taurus missiles. Just make sure to pinch fins from the AMRAAMs for the Meteors.
-
Great job on detailing such a plain cockpit and scratchbuilting your own bang seat. Really improved look! Can't wait to see how you do with the other areas of the kit!
-
Very clean paint job, nice weathering. Great job overall! Hang on...you didn't list a weapons set...that must mean...[gasp] A HASEGAWA KIT THAT CAME WITH ORDINANCE! [begins foaming at the mouth as collapses on the floor in a violent seizure] Just kidding. Some do come with ordinance. No, Sidewinders and AMRAAM don't count for 'Gawa. Yes they do! No they don't! Yes they do! No they dont!... Anyway, great job for your first posted model!

What'd you like to see me (attempt to) build?
sv51macross replied to AnthonyWan's topic in Helicopter Modeling
I didn't see Mh-53 Super Sea King or JSDF Jigabatchi on that list. Barring others, either Hind or the V-22 would be cool. -
Problem is, the AC-130's nose cockpit-nose area looks almost exactly like the ESWAT transport, and the each prop 's diameter is almost as long as the wing istelf. Thanks though.
-
The wings look fine butted to nacells. I can almost gaurantee pics by tonight, if i can get my digital camera working. If I don't get them up, just imagine the last photo I posted without tape or any gaps, and the wings about 3-5 degrees rotated in.
