  1. Hey thanks! Just waiting for the gloss coat to cure, then I can getb stuck into the weathering.
  2. :) Thanks all for your kind words, its not the best kit in the world so I'm just trying to make the best of it.
  3. Thanks very much for your kind words! The walling is made from paper towel, and I've just been tackling the intake grills.....I'll get some pics up soon.
  4. Here's another one I'm working on right now, its the Mk.IX from Airfix in 1/48. Its not perfect to say the least. To start, the leading and trailing edges are way too thick and the engraved panel lines are too shallow. Plus the cannon bulges are the wrong shape. So....the fun starts there! I rescribed the panel lines ,dropped the elevators and added a new thinner rudder from a Hasegawa kit. Its never going to be anything spectacular but at least I'll have a Mk.IX on my shelf. (something I've wanted to do for long while.) It will be finished in the markings of MH434, which still flies today
  5. Hi all, I've not posted here for a bit so I thought I'd share what I'm working on with all of you. This is my stab at the Airfix 1/72 Lynx. It's the first of many Fleet Air Arm builds that I've been meaning to do for years. I usually go for props or jets in 1/48 so this has been quite a departure for me, still its been a refreshing change. here's a few pics of what I've got done so far......
  6. Wow! Steve that is incredible work! Puts my F-14 to shame, I have just read through the entire thread and must say how impressed I am with what you have done. Superb! Regards, Darren.
  7. Hi, nice work! I like those 'Cats on the deck, very sharp looking. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but the results will be worth it! Keep those updates coming.
  8. Thank you for your kind words guys!
  9. is absolutely superb! One of the best Fw-190's I've ever seen. You have put a lot of hard work into this, and it shows. A beautuiful model indeed. Regards, Darren.
  10. Thanks for your kind words, I see what you mean about the harness! Never noticed it before!
  11. Hi, I posted some in-progress pics of this build a while back and well, here it is. Finished at last! This the second time that I have tackled hasegawa's F-14 in 1/48 scale, this time finished in VF-84 markings as specified by my mate who this build is for. The paint scheme is from 1981 and its correct except for the white flaps and Hor.Stabs, this was done at my friends request, because "he likes it that way" Anyway, I think it looks OK. The Tomcat is OOB except for the seat harness and the all the figures are from Hasegawa's deck crew set. The base is home made. There are lots of F-14'
  12. Thank you very much! Thats exactly what I wanted. My mates model will be "Victory 213" Cheers! Darren.
  13. Hi Everyone, I'm building a VF-84 Tomcat for a mate of mine and I'm putting together a little plaque for the base and I wanted to mention the aircrafts radio callsign. I have done some internet searches and found very little so on the off-chance that anyone here might know, I'm looking for a callsign used by a VF-84 F-14A in the early eighties. Any help on this one would be greatly recieved. Darren.
  14. Thanks! I just hope the friend I'm building it for likes it too! Darren.
  15. Very nice work, look forward to seeing more. Darren.
