  1. PW2 and a Mav is not a load used, there would be a number of problems with the configuration. Bomb'ed
  2. Hi, the seeker head has a light brown band denoting low explosive ( squib is still retained in the seeker head), the body tube has pink bands (colour shade varies with age etc) this denotes an aquisition round which is what we call our training winders, and having no wings or fins is standard for UK, in fact the aquisition missile body tubes have no fittings to attatch the wings to. The maverick pic you have will show a TGM or training missile hence the blue band as this denotes a training round. Cheers Pete
  3. The screen is called the blast shield. It acts as a seperator between the two cockpits and is a must in the event of an incident I.e. bird strike or the front canopy shattering. It still allows the rear pilot to fly or control the A/C. Regards Pete
  4. Mate, very, very well done. Like it alot :(
  5. Hi, the picture was taken in 1999 during Op Allied Force at Gioia Del Colle in Italy. The BOL304's on the outboards pylons were fitted to give extra chaff and never had missiles fitted for A/A role :)
  6. A GR9 or not a GR9 that is the question!, well some have a very handy sticker on the tail and some dont! Unless you have access to the Aircraft F700 it is difficult to destinguish between the two. Best way if you open one of the panels a spercific GR9 box lies behind it ...best way(assuming you have access to one of the mighty leaping heaps!). If you want to model a GR9, just put enhanced PW2 on the intermediate pylons( the ones between the outrigger and the outboard) as this is a GR9 upgrade. LERX, frog eyes, gunpods, strakes are no 7/9 giveaway, believe me this question has given a few heada
  7. I got the 1/72 Hasagawa GR7 in the post this morning. On a quick first look the kit appears to be to the usual standards you would expect. Basically it's the USMC Harrier with our "Brit bits" added. However despite the box art you only get LAU-7A's and not BOL304's and as ever the seat is the US version and not the MK12 used in the GR7. However on the whole the kit is probably top of the bunch at the moment. A good decal sheet by the way.
  8. Hi, the CL isn't used much. A baggage pod or recce pod is about it. Sometimes a 1000lb dumb bomb but that is very rare. Cheers
  9. Hi guys, just a quick point, a GR9 can have either 65% or 100% LERX, it depends when the A/C was built. Also it's very rare to see a Harrier (UK) with gun pods, strakes are now standard to all GR's and T-birds.
  10. Hi, 1/72 Airfix Nimrod, just need to " sneak" it into the stash....."had it ages babe......honest!"
  11. apart from the range of wpns loaded to the 7 and 9 differ slightly, there are no external differences ( unless u open a panel) as mentioned in the cockpit the differences are very slight. Some A.C have a GR9 logo on the tail but thats about it. I noticed snowleapod mentioned nose differences, the Dragon git has GR5 and 7 options, the backend change never happened ,although it was mutted . Hope you all had a good christmas.
  12. In this months AirForces monthly is a pic of an F-18F in very coulourful Diamond back markings. It has red tails and a red spine with the dimonds down it. I'm guessing it's a GAG aircraft if the USN still spruce up their CAG birds?. Do any markings exist for this colour scheme?
  13. Iused a spare Harrier centre line pylon and some plastic card to make a pylon. Also I used two of the half moon fairings off the strake to fit inboard of the adaptor pylon. I can't seem to upload pics if you PM me I'll send you some pics. I also re-profiled the LIDS fence ear to fit over the pod nose as the "ears" are different for strakes and TIALD.
  14. Count me in, so long as my modeling room (shed) is up and running, just moved house so girlfriend has other ideas than me modeling at the mo. cheers Pete
