  1. Got it. Thanks. I saw those two lower ones and thought those might be for the A and K versions. Marc B.
  2. Is the inverted stabilizer profile also on the Su-25 Frogfoot A/ Su-25K or only for the UB and later versions? Marc B.
  3. Snip If you'll just step up to this wooden stake atop this pile of wood, sir, the fire will be along shortly... ;) Marc B.
  4. Well! That answers that! Thanks Joseph, your help and information has been pure gold :thumbsup:/> Marc B.
  5. harvy5, I found this load out on the 'net. I *think* it's from the 4+ publication? It shows in two load outs the SPPU-22 coupled with rocket launchers. Perhaps the pylons are selectable and therefore the common fire switch for gun pods and rockets can be isolated? Seems to follow every other rule stated above (Su-25T/TM are a different case). Thoughts? Marc B.
  6. More good info...Thanks. Question: Does the SPPU-22 take up one of the two spots in the armament/ ballistic computer? Also from what you were saying I can have one type of rocket pod/ rocket and one type of bomb on the same load, but never two types of bombs (same or different weights) or two types of rocket pods/ rockets on the same load, correct? Thanks again, Marc B.
  7. Harvy5, thanks for the reply. Lots of very good information. One configuration I was considering was SPPU-22s with some B-8Ms, but I see from your write-up this is not possible (common firing switch for SPPU-22 and rocket pods). I could mix the SPPU-22 with some KMGU-2s though. The other mix I was considering was PTB-800, B-8M, 4xFAB-100 on MBD2, and R-60s. I'll have to re-think the use of the SPPU-22s now, given the limitations it places on rocket pod use... bugger. Marc B.
  8. Air Forces I am considering are either Russian or Ukraine (and no, not because of their part in the news lately). Russia has access to the full array the Basic Su-25s could handle. The Su-25SM mentioned earlier has a larger selection available (most laser and TV guided weapons), but would need a scratch built cockpit for all the instrument changes, MFD inclusion, and an honest to goodess HUD, so I'm not going there just for a few extra weapon selections. For the Ukrainian Su-25Ks, I'm not sure what inventory they have available. Likely all the dumb rockets, missiles, and bombs that are commo
  9. That's the info I have on that as well. Early on, this aircraft (T8-15 in Paris) caused a lot of confusion for westerners as to prototype/ production configurations. When I tried to turn my Monogram Su-25 into a full production Frogfoot, it turned into a bag of snakes to get the right info. eventually I got it all sorted out and the conversion is actually fairly easy, but it took so long to get the info I lost interest in doing up the Mono kit. The Trumpeter kit is definately re-kindling my interest. Marc B.
  10. Real world. Yes, I am aware certain pylons were only cleared for certain weapon types. Eg, inner most pylons and next outer one save one are wet pylons, as I understand it. Also certain weapons would not be seen on any pre Su-25T models (Vikhr?) I had read somewhere that the load could not support more than two weapon types on the 8 main pylons, but I see a mixture of three and 4 different types loaded on actual aircraft on the 'net; or are those likely all Su-25Ts or just for splashy demo's? Anyway this is exactly the kind of info I'm looking for... what weapons (or fuel) on what pylons in
  11. Well, I found out the Su-25K was merely the export designation of the basic Su-25. The next major upgrade variant would be the Su-25T (or TK for export) and had several physical differences to the basic Su-25. I also learned that there were two engines used in the Su-25. The R-95 was used in the vast majority of the basic Su-25 with the last batch recieving the upgraded R-195, distinguished by the 'stovepipe' engine exhausts and a different arrangement of scoops on the nacelle and eliminating the fin root intake. Originally I thought the intake at the base of the fin was on later builds and t
  12. Hey all, I recently got the Trumpeter Su-25 Frogfoot A. What would be some real world examples of loadouts for this? This kit comes with a truckload of weapon stores of which I'm sure many are not appropriate or typically mixed with others. I've dug up a few off the net by way of photos, but if anyone has some practical examples, it would be helpful. Also, are the Su-25K and Frogfoot 'A' one in the same or is it more of a "sort of, but" scenario? Marc B.
  13. Thanks. Thought it might be these, but wanted to be sure. Marc B.
  14. What exhaust are you referring to here?... not sure. I saw the later post where both should be removed/ filled in. Marc B.
  15. Those are GRU-7 seats for the A-6E. The A-6A uses the GRU-5 seats... different beasts. I'm thinking Quickboost will likely do a set or we'll be able to the get the full meal cockplit from Aires eventually. Marc B.
  16. This^ Besides researching how the real deal looked, when I add weathering, my rule of thumb is when I think "maybe just a little more"... STOP! you've done enough. It's very easy to add 'a little more' and 'a little more' and get to the point where you've gone too far. Another trick is to stop every once in a while during the process, take a step back (literaly) and have a look at what you've done. When you're at nose length and adding weathering techniques, it's easy to lose track of the big picture... Just my 2 cents. Marc B.
  17.   Sorry, just had to. I'm guessing that statement was tongue-in-cheek anyway. The chances of them releasing other than WWI and 1/32 are somewhere between zero and none. They have gone on record many times in interviews with that posture... unlikely to ever change. I for one am ecstatic that a company is focused unwaveringly on WWI kits with such quality and in a scale that shows them to great advantage. I don't WANT them to chage, as their focus and possible quality would suffer as a result. As was said, WnW is not a profit driven company, it's an extension of Pet
  18. Release date around June/July 2014. Price set to be around ₤90. Marc B.
  19. I'm well aware of it's other problems... been reading the various threads here and on Britmodeller. KH seems to have a real problem "accessorizing" their kits with proper weaponry... unless it's French ;) Anyway, one more note to go on the shopping list of corrections/ mods/ omissions. Marc B.
  20. Late to this discussion... have my kit coming from Lucky. Looking at the instructions (posted in the other thread) it shows the option to arm this with FAB1500 and/or FAB500 bombs. This seems to be wrong to me. The MiG-25 PD/PDS, being an interceptor, would only be armed with air-air assets would it not? I believe the capability to carry bombs was only with the MiG-25RB variants; is this correct? Marc B.
  21. To get the effect of the opaque seeker (some grey, but mostly a somewhat tawny beige to my eye), I mix in a small amount of powdered pastel chalk (grind some up on sandpaper) of the appropriate colour. You can achieve virtually any color doing this and still get a super glossy opaque to translucent colour depending on the amount of chalk you use. I've use this method for red/green/amber ID lights too. Marc B.
  22. Supa-mega shuttle with twin Saturn V booster rockets?... You'll have to post that one in the Sci-Fi forum though ;) After studiying my kit and the tweaks list, I'd say it's best to create a shopping list of what you WILL do. There are many areas that correction will be too extensive for me to bother with (F-1 fairing shape for example). A lot of the details in that list are not incorrect on the kit, just missing... those will definately be added to my shopping list. Coupled with that, I'm going to get a set of David Weeks' drawings to aid in the placement and details of the missing bits.
  23. For domestic retailers, yes (or even more). From HK on-line dealers, much less... I'm guessing ~$50-$60 delivered. Marc B.
