  1. Thanks for the feedback everyone. As far as an "in progress" thread goes, I do not have one at the moment. But when I finished this diorama/display, I swore I would make one for myself. Especially now since I bought the legit, Tamiya block 30 model with the AN/ALQ 1-88 frog pod and the ACMI pod. I hope to make my own display of my jet 86-0314. I will do a construction thread for that one. I think it would be cool to do a maintenance display, If only they made a -60 generator set in 1:48th??? Just imagine I could light up the panel lights and contact lights on the -60 as well. Maybe, an open r
  2. I wanted to share my first fiber optic / LED model display. I just made this for our Crew Chief flight's gift to our departing commander. He is going to be missed in the 18th Aggressors. I used the new Maintenance Lithograph that came out early this year for the background. I used different sizes of fiber optics for the stars, Anti-K lights, and inlet lights. The taxi lights and Commander's coin lights are all 3mm LED's. The display case was from Micheal's. I thought some of you might like to see this. I think with some more time I could have gotten lights on the model to power up, but with ti
  3. I'm looking for a General Electric Exhaust Nozzle that will work with the 1:32 "Rammstein" F-16C. The kit I got on ebay is missing it. Also, I'm looking for 1:72 MiG 21 decals - any Thanks
  4. Thanks for the ideas and tips. Honestly Thanks a bunch. It was my first diorama, it was a lot of fun. Right now I am planning to add fiber optic lights and LED's into my next model scene. I have several models sitting around, I'd like to bulid my SU-34 departing in burner, with a SU-27 holding short, complete with nav, taxi, landing lights, and airport lighting
  5. I finished my aggressor mountain scene. I temporarily have 86-0335 on the stand now, (gear down no pilot) I am trying to finish up a gear up model of my jet 86-0314. I used fiberglass resin for the simulated glacier ice and I used Noch snow crystals for the snow. Here it is...
  6. I have been wanting to build a Alaskan Aggressor mountain scene ever since I started making models of our jets here. I started with a base board and 2 cans of Great Stuff foam. After that, I covered it with drywall compound and painted it with faux stone textured spray paint. Right now I am trying to make some real blue glacier ice like you see in the mountains all around here. I am using food coloring and Future for that. It is going to take me quite some time to finish the ice. The last step I will have is placing snow all over the mountain tops. I am still debating on how I am going to do t
  7. I am currently building a bunch of Eielson's Arctic Aggressors. I was going to do individual stands for each but now after seeing a few planes together it would be cool to keep some of them together. I'd like to do a diorama/base that would look like the snowy mountains we have here. My question is what would be the best building materials to build mountains. I was thinking like great stuff foam or something, then cut and trim it. Let me know if you have any ideas. Here's some pics of the models and the real deal... disregard green jet- this one is going to be a gag gift for the DCC on on
  8. The Soviet star is still on there but now I painted this.... It says stealth is for cowards - I'm poking fun at the 22 because they kick everybody's butt out of the sky - Which is good for them, not us
  9. Thanks, The 1:32 scale I told you about became our OIC Capt. M's. retirment gift. The only thing is, I had to repaint it from a totally done arctic aggressor scheme to a Washington Redskins paint scheme. Turned out good for a time pressed respray. She loved it. Thats all that matters I guess.
  10. Good stuff, It'll be a long time before I could ever paint something like that. That is awesome.
  11. A few months back at work, I was going to our support section to check out more cleaning supplies for the jet I am Assistant Dedicated Crew Chief on. When I returned there were about a dozen people taking pictures of my plane. I thought that it was quite odd. It was like a fashion photo shoot there were so many cameras. Turns out it was the afterburner decals people wanting to make a decal kit of our arctic aggressors. I can't thank those guys enough for making a decal kit of the first (and current) jet of my career. I wanted to make a model of it, and was stuck with, "what I would do for deca
  12. Red Flag is now over, here in Alaska. I was woken up this morning by the sights & sounds of Tornados, Hornets, and F-16's taking off. Also, It is summer solstice today. Tonight the arctic aggressors will be buzzing the town around midnight!!! Good thing it's light out 24/7.
