  1. This is going to be a quick one I hope, needs to be done by the 20th of Feb. Growing up on Clark Ab in the Philippines, I remember watching the Blue Diamonds perform at one of the airshows. When I saw that Microscale did a decal sheet that included markings for the Blue Diamonds F-5A I just had to do one. This will also be a nice companion for my Starfighters Inc F-104D. Here's a link to some pics of the various aircraft they used as well as the F-5A that will be the subject of this build. http://aerobaticteams.net/paf-blue-diamonds-gallery.html I'll get some pics up shortly, not going to p
  2. Since my F-104 is almost finished, I'm going to start a Blue Diamonds F-5A (Philippine Air Force Demo Team) using the Hasegawa 1/72 F-5A and the Microscale Asia Decal set. I am going to try and finish it by the 20th of Feb, that's our next IPMS meeting and the Doha Filipino Photography Club will be coming to take pictures of our models.
  3. Looks fantastic Raphael, I've always loved the lines of the Lagg-3.
  4. Got a Revell 1/48 F-18F Super Bug just jumping to get in on this build. She'll be wearing VFA-2 colors (AeroMaster sheet)from the USS Abraham Lincoln. I started on the intakes and shot some white on the wheel hubs, other than that she's a box of parts that needs to get done.
  5. Hi, PM sent for the following: ESCI Mirage F.1C $17 ESCI JA-37 Viggen $20 Italeri JAS.39A Gripen $15
  6. Wow! And I thought the 1/72 XB-70 took a lot of time and effort with the putty and wetsanding. Here she is with the 3rd primer and putty phase, I think one more time will be the ticket, down to just using Mr Surfacer now instead of putty.
  7. Thanks Arnaud, still have to do a little work on them aluminum bits to give it the two shades look.
  8. Well...not sure if it's the easiest process to put the air intakes on after painting the two tone on the forward fuselage, I think either way it will be a chore.
  9. OMG! They are so small! You must be building these using little chopsticks or tweezers.
  10. Eduard has a nice PE set of B-1 burners if you don't mind death by PE, they're a lot of work but look great when done. I have all the 1/48 B-1 burner options (Eduard, Cutting Edge, Revell F-15) if you need any comparisons.
  11. Thanks Ross, looks like there may be 3 paint types that may give a good color match for the blue, I'll post that info once I've sprayed and compared them for those folks who have these in their stash.
  12. Derek, you were right, LuckyModel will ship anything anywhere. Just received an order from them with a bunch of Gunze and Tamiya paints in it. Really cool thing about LuckyModel is they stock some of the odd stuff you don't see in the online hobby distributers in the U.S. Shipping took 2.5 weeks to get to me from HongKong, not bad considering most things I order take about a week or so to get here.
  13. Looking good Andrew, and is that another F-111 project I see floating in the background?
  14. Thanks Yannis, the kit has raised panel lines.
  15. Decals applied to nose section, not a bad match with the blue on the decal. In case anyone is wondering, I am keeping the airintakes off until I get the forward fuselage decals on to simplify the application.
  16. Time for some of that pretty blue, Vallejo French Blue.
  17. And here she is with a coat of Vallejo Gloss White.
  18. Ok, work continues, here she is with a coat of Vallejo White Primer.
  19. Pre-assembling all the subassemblies, the easy part (just about every seam will need lots of attention). Will be a miracle if any of the raised detail will be intact when it's ready for paint.
  20. Hello all, for this build I will be building Hasegawa's 1/72 B-47E Stratojet dressed in the 97th Bomb Wing's markings that it wore when it was deployed to RAF Upper Hayford in the spring of 1956. Kit will be built OOB and common markings will be augmented from an aftermarket decal sheet. For the unit markings, I will be making them from scratch.
  21. Here we go, after a little research, looks like I'll be doing a B-47E in the 97th Bomb Wing markings. The aircraft in particular is tail number 15214 since it seems to be the easiest to find documentation for. Kit will be the 1/72 Hasegawa B-47E built OOB. Markings will be from various sheets with all the common stuff on them, the unit specific markings will be homemade. Aircraft was assigned to RAF Upper Hayford in the spring of 1956. Thumbs up or down?
