Decals applied to nose section, not a bad match with the blue on the decal. In case anyone is wondering, I am keeping the airintakes off until I get the forward fuselage decals on to simplify the application.

Time for some of that pretty blue, Vallejo French Blue.

And here she is with a coat of Vallejo Gloss White.

Ok, work continues, here she is with a coat of Vallejo White Primer.

Pre-assembling all the subassemblies, the easy part (just about every seam will need lots of attention). Will be a miracle if any of the raised detail will be intact when it's ready for paint.

Kit with decals that will be used...

Wasting no time, proof of NIB status...

Hello all, for this build I will be building Hasegawa's 1/72 B-47E Stratojet dressed in the 97th Bomb Wing's markings that it wore when it was deployed to RAF Upper Hayford in the spring of 1956. Kit will be built OOB and common markings will be augmented from an aftermarket decal sheet. For the unit markings, I will be making them from scratch.

Here we go, after a little research, looks like I'll be doing a B-47E in the 97th Bomb Wing markings. The aircraft in particular is tail number 15214 since it seems to be the easiest to find documentation for. Kit will be the 1/72 Hasegawa B-47E built OOB. Markings will be from various sheets with all the common stuff on them, the unit specific markings will be homemade. Aircraft was assigned to RAF Upper Hayford in the spring of 1956. Thumbs up or down?

The kit will be Hasegawa's 1/72 B-47E kit, will use common markings from the kit supplied decals as well as some from a Warbird Decals sheet. Tail number and unit specific markings will be homemade. Only wish I could find a good source for some JATO/RATO bottles.

Ok, how does a B-47E from the 97th BG that was stationed at RAF Upper Hayford sound?
-
Thanks Neu, I'll have to dig a little more and pull up some examples to get the correct tail numers and such.
-
We need to get some sponsors going to spice this GB up!
-
With all that PE and loaded cockpit, it will barely be noticeable.
-
Hi everyone, would the B-47 qualify in this GB?
-
Absolutely stunning!

Nice thread, I used to work on the A-10 engines (TF34-100's) back in the early 1980's at RAF Bentwaters, good times!
-
Man, that first class for such an old kit.
-
I'll take this:

- Aires cockpit set
- Eduard masks
- Xtradecals 48080 (Tiger Sqdn 1916-1992)

-
Do you have a plan in the works to keep it from being a tail sitter?
-
Looks like it's moving along well, keep up the good work!
