  1. Matt coat on and the last little bits added... 3 months work is now on the shelf(had to extend my shelving unit to fit) Man I'm glad to see the end of this project. Andrew MacKay
  2. Camera arrived today.. Just a few bits and bobs to finish on the starboard side wing and gloss coat than it's on to decals. Then the task of finding some where to display this monster. Cheers Andrew
  3. It's progressing nicely Just finishing the final wing... photos to come when my new camera arrives... Just bought a EOS 7d :) Andrew
  4. I'm in the middle of my round the South Island holiday ... in a little town called Hamner (google it) still 5 days away from getting back to the 130. Cheers Andrew
  5. one of each please ... when they are ready to go. Ray, I can probably supply walkarounds for CSI's Notar's at some later stage if you need em Andrew
  6. Real men do it by hand .. no masking required
  7. Ta bud, The engine parts are from the kit.. just blasted them with Tamiya aluminium and washed with paynes grey oil. As for the props .... to late ... Modeling is fun accuracy is optional :) Andrew
  8. More colour done ... remember I'm biulding this so that the wings will be removable, hence the gap in the wing root Ran out of paint there is a whole bottle of xf66 and xf 24 on there already Cheers Andrew Mac
  9. The join looks ok ... its called compromise B)
  10. We have colour  Give that I will not be glueing the wings on... easier to transport, I though it would be interesting to get one part of this beast finished. going for the patchy weathered look ... Base coat of Tamiya xf66 or 24 then lighten with matt white and spray randomish patterns. also Darken/Lighten random panels. Quite happy with the result
  11. Good to see another Herky bird getting built ... 3 on one forum has to be a bit of a record
  12. A little more done.... There's an aluminium sleeve through the fuse and another that slides through this into the wings.. hopefully this will prevent cracking along the fuse join. The Flightpath flaps are a wonder though as it says in the instructions you do need to solder it togeather as there is a lot of stress on the ribs getting it all to fit. I'm starting to think about colours also, and will go with Tamiya's XF66 on the top and XF22 (lightened) on the bottom, but will patch things a bit with different shades. The arm is still acting up so can only spend an hour at a time worki
  13. Andrew, heres one that I've been using from Wikipedia. Bit irritating as it shows all the extra stuff that needs to be put into the flap sections! That will do ... Just some heavy solder runs will make the diferance.
  14. Speaking of paint and stuff... just got the Flightpath flaps installed ... has anyone a good shot of the open flap area of the c-130 ? Andrew
  15. It's kinda fixed in place ... If you dont tell anyone I won't
  16. Just noticed that I haven't posted these ... The finished interior with LED lighting. With one very casual/scruffy Crew Chief..
  17. Here you go Ben... Not quite perfect but close enough for this old fella Thats Tamiya's white surface primer on there ... thinner 50/50 with laquer thinner. Cheers Andrew
  18. I'll shoot some tomorrow night Ben ... I'm just doing it so it looks and feels ok. Started on the wing flaps this evening ... geeze flightpaths instructions leave a lot to be desired... Andrew
  19. They though it was a crack in my scaphoid but the second set of xrays show'd it wasn't, just heavy brusing to the tissue at the base of my thumb. Andrew
  20. A little more work done ... Danged hard to work with a busted hand. Cast is off and it's back to sanding. Cheers Andrew
  21. In 1:48th ??? how quick can you get a set to New Zealand ... Just in the final stages of lumping and Bumping my AC-130 Cheers Andrew
  22. As the other guys have said... good DSLR Canon Nikon with a off brand macro lens will make a good starting point, I use a EOS 1dmk2 with a Tamron sp90 macro which I very rearly take below F18 for most of the work I do. but if cash is an issue the a cheap 50mm lens and some extension tubes would get you most of the way. There is lots of nice gear out there at the moment .. I'm looking for a replacement for my old 1Dmk1 that I just sold and instead of spending $7000 plus for a 1dmk4 I 'll probably go for the new 7d $3500... BTW I shoot Rodeo for a secondary income .... pays for the photography t
  23. Just need to get Joseph to rescale his BT decals to 1:48th.. I built the kittech one a while back with the fireball decals. build gallery is here Keaphotos
