Just a follow up on this thread, they are now available: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PDR007?result-token=kLLWD https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/PDR006?result-token=kLLWD

Hey thanks! I guess they took her up to Willow Grove for upgrades now and then before they relocated those facilities down to NAS Pax. That was before I got to the command (2008). We would still go do touch n' go's at WG but in the P-# "slicks" we had. This one we weren't allowed to do pilot training hops in.

An idea for not only decals but a 3D printed resin conversion, VXS-1/Naval Research Lab (and later VX-30) NP-3D, with Hawkeye 2000 suite (this includes the underside CEC antenna unlike the U.S. Customs domed P-3s). Later photos show the "RL" and orange lightning bolt on the tail as well as NAVAL RESEARCH (in USAF font 🙄) along the sides of the fuselage. I was commissioned to build one of these about 12 years ago as a Change of Command gift to the out going CO from his wife...I've logged several hours in this bird and want to do another for my own collection.

Alright, well from a P-3 crewman perspective...I gotta say, THEY'RE FANTASTIC! Particularly the stencil and data portion (could certainly be sold as a separate sheet). I love how you designed the wing walks, with the large sections of what's typically clear film removed, and also the inclusion of the different pitot/static ports and RESCUE arrows. Great work. The squadron markings are sharp! The later version of the VQ-1 bat looks spot on, finally available on a sheet...I may jump into building one of those soon, in it's final antenna configuration. gaaadaamn...$26.00 just to ship it.

Aren't they closed?

Where is this available?

Wow looking forward to see what you have in store for us! My suggestion (although it may require a full kit...hey, there's an idea!) YF-16 mods. Other ideas that fall in line with your decals: early F-15 short speed brake, various test probes (long type for the F-14, F-18, F-15, A-10 test birds)

Great looking schemes...VP-26, and a VQ-1 "Q-bird" on my "to-do" list.

This is fantastic, and to see YOUR instruction sheet taped to the nose! Wow! Very cool, and thank you for doing this sheet. Now...if a proper 1/48 YF-16 kit would materialize, that would be outstanding!

I see people all over FB groups searching for this sheet...myself among them! 🤣

It seems a memorandum went out in mid April of 1944, so, units would have the time to prepare for the "go" order. Attached is a copy of the memorandum with instructions on how the stripes were to be painted. For single engine aircraft (fighters), the instructions call for 18 inch wide stripes...following these guidelines while building a 1/48 L-4 some time back, I realized that would not work on such a small airframe. A little further research showed that on liason aircraft such as the L-4, L-5, they divided the requirement by half. INVASION STRIPE GOUGE SHEET.pdf

I'm painting up some 1/48 paratroopers for a 101st AB D-Day diorama. Did the 101st have the U.S. flag on the right shoulder for D-Day? Seems they did for Operation Market garden but I can't find anything definitive for the D-Day drop.

F-16 Demo Team Honors 50th with YF-16 Scheme

Because you're brush painting it. Brushing is never going to look as good as airbrushing paint on to a model. -

Not a huge fan...what the ??? The Air Force should keep this the Demo Team scheme for life. I'd love to stick around WI after the Nats for Oshkosh. -
Roger that 👍

No sir, that BuNo list above is the latest configurations of autopilot system/static arrangement. I'll go back and BOLD FACE that "SOME aircraft". A lot of the time the determining factor was, "Hey, do we have time to slap a new autopilot system in the bird or does the fleet need it back right away???". More often than not they want the bird back out in the fleet.

OK...BELAY MY LAST ...as they say in the Navy. In more recent years (let's say the last 10 or so), as EP-3E's went to mod and were upgraded with new antenna arrays, SOME aircraft got the ASW-31 or ASW-60 (aircraft 157318) autopilot...with that the 4 static ports per side on the aft fuselage. As seen here on aircraft 316. The aircraft with the 3/2 set up (PBN-20) are: BUNO 156507, 156511, 156517, 156519, 156528, & 156529. Aircraft with 4/4 (ASW-31, 60) are: BUNO 156514, 157316, 157325, 157326, 159887, 159893, 160291, 160764, AND 161410. AN ASW-60 IS INSTALLED ON AIR

I'll take a look through my photos of EP-3s to be sure.

Nice additions! The Three Hole static marking is "handed" (L and R, Port/Starboard).

I can dig this. Who's doing the decals???!!!

Kursad, Yes, the white panel is/was the crash locator beacon (AN/URT-26(V)). It was in use on the P-3B and C, even in the low viz schemes up into the early 2000s but then did away with (USN aircraft anyway). I got to P-3s in 2004 and none of our aircraft had them anymore. You see them on some but not others, even in the same timeframe so, I agree there is no correlation as to BuNo. Provide it, and if the reference pic shows it there, then the modeler has the option.
