  1. The Gimp would work as well for making decals!
  2. Got my Raptor form JasonW from the Christmas raffle!
  3. Agreed, Jon - that is what "Blood Sweat and Tears" was painted with at Carolinas Aviation Museum. Hopefully it will hold up well out in the weather. The gloss finish is a bonus as well...when the birds make their strafing runs, their bombs can be washed right off! You got me thinking...now I wanna do a Blackbird!
  4. Congrats to the winners, and everybody's entries looked great! Was honored to be part of this GB and looking forward to my next!
  5. I've had a blast, learned a bit, and enjoyed seeing everyone else's models. Even though I didn't finish in time, "BS&T" will be finished and I'll post the pics. Thanks to all the participants and our mods!
  6. Thanks to all who've posted comments, but due to a balky printer, I was unable to complete "BS&T" before the end of the build. Hopefully things will go better with the next one I enter. Here are today's pics of my helo...but first one Photobucket wants to lay on its side...must be the Mon-key... Reg
  7. Chuck, this picture of 153389 barely shows the outline of the larger stub wings where the museum backdated it with the earlier smaller stubs. Seems like Ryan pointed this out to me...
  8. Will dust count Mason? :D Was gonna clear today but had to take Mom to ER - 5 hours to say she had an irritated trachea.... But...I did get the soot shields painted!
  9. Welcome Ump! I've only been here a short time - getting back into building after about 10 years away - and have learned much from these guys. (Still not as good as the rest of these guys, but getting there!) Like they've said, start simple with the basic (quality) tools and don't worry too much about the airbrush at first - but when you're ready start off with an economical one to get the feel for it. Above all - enjoy building and posting in-progress pics!
  10. I'm in the Upstate Stump - about an hour away from the museum. Got the windows in the cockpit... Gotta have a decent day so i can get the clear on it and decals applied....now if I can just remember where I put my spare cartridges...
  11. I use a Uniden BC92XLT myself - has excellent range (picking up aircraft on approach to CLT about 45 miles away), preloaded frequencies, and a compact size. This is also a race scanner so it came with a stubby antenna which don't jab you in the ribs when it's clipped on your belt.
  12. Found at a KB Toys earlier....a Kitech MiG-31 1/72 Foxhound...now to find some pics to build it.
  13. Awan, those look like '07 or '08 models in those pics - don;t see any reason you couldn't use that '99 truck to build one!
  14. It's not that bad - but just don't look at the bottom - it don't quite match.
