  1. Thanks Ian, I was mislead by the owner of the small hobby shop that I purchased the Tamiya Flat from. I just read the "sticky" Paint Compatability posting that is at the top of the Tools 'n" Tips section. Am I correct in assuming that the PollyScale Clear Flat would be the way to go? Thanks. David
  2. I recently purchased some Tamiya Flat Base, to use as to brush paint to top coat an acrylic finish color on an interior as well as a similar detail part. The result was a milky white finish. My intent was to use it like Testor's "Dullcoat",but without having the lacquer over acrylic compatability issues. It this base only meant to be airbrushed? I don't use my airbrush often, as I haven't mastered it. Perhaps now would be a good time to start... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, David
  3. Speaking of UGLY helicopters, this is MONOC One. Commonly referred to as the "Creamsicle". The photo came from FLICKR, can't give credit to the photographer, as I don't know who took the shot. I'm sure that we could start a whole thread on UGLY helicopters, but any rotorcraft is beautiful in my book. Especially when they and their crew perform such noble work. Sincerely, David
  4. Georg, Welcome to the site. Vanderbilt is an excellent program, well known here in the US. I am a flight nurse, but don't have the luxury of flying on an EC145. Our ship is an EC135. Good luck with your project. You are off to a great start. I look forward to following your progress. There just aren't enough civilian and medical helicopters being built. One of these days, I will get up enough nerve to start my own helicopter projects... Sincerely, David
  5. Does anyone know if Mr. Surfacer is available in the United States? I don't live near any hobby shops that carry it, and it seems like a product that would be helpful to use in my modeling projects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, David
  6. Sorry, I meant to post the above message in the other thread on the LongRanger topic. While here though, does anyone know it the Revell JetRanger re-release is available yet in the US? Just wondering? Thanks. David
  7. Michael, It's great to see you and the LongRanger project back on the forum. It is a shame that no manufacturers have seen fit to produce one in larger scale(or at all). I see so many of them in use in civilian and law enforcement roles here in the US. I look forward to following your progress. Sincerely, David

  9. Anthony, Your work is nothing short of "amazing". I really look forward to seeing your updates. Someday, I will get started on some of my helicopter projects. Seeing work like yours is so inspiring! Have a blessed and safe holiday. Sincerely, David
  10. Michael, Great job! The aircraft looks superb. I like the bright color scheme. Look forward to seeing the fenestron corrections. I don't usually look in the "In Progress" section, as I am not really into fixed wing aircraft. Thanks for sharing it here. Sincerely, David
  11. Thanks for yor replies. I just got my EC-145 model. After comparing it to my aircraft and the ADAC EC-135 model, I do see the many differences. I was just "hoping" to be able to use the opening doors to build a detailed model. I think that as this is my first aircraft model, that I shall start simple, and build it primarily out of the box. I will detail the interior as close to my aircraft as possible. There are a few of the parts from the EC-145 model that I can use, such as the seats, and wire strike kit to replicate my aircraft. I will also have to spend some time figuring out the ex
  12. Hi Guys, I am considering building a model of the EC-135 that I fly on. I have the Revell 1/32 scale ADAC kit, and just received the EC-145 kit in the mail. Wow, what a difference in detail between the two! My question is: can I use the EC-145 fuselage and simply graft the EC-135 engine and transmission cowling and tailboom to it? I am looking at gross detail, and may be missing something. I also haven't begun cutting any bits of plastic yet, so it's hard to tell. I know that some of you have used these kits in your different projects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the warm welcome! Some of you had asked for a walk -around of my aircraft. I have included a link both on the "Reference" page and below. I apoligize that the photos loaded in reverse. The full shots are at the end, and the detail pictures at the begining. I just looked at the Revell ADAC EC-135 kit that I have. It will take some work to get the interior similar to our aircraft. I may end up getting one of the newer Revell 135's and/ or the EC-145 kit for details. Do the side and rear clamshell doors on any of the EC-135 kits open? I also noticed that on the EC-145 kit, is
  14. Below you should find the link to an album of a walk-around of an EC-135 aircraft. I apoligize that the album loaded backwards. Full shots are located at the end, and detail photos from the begining. Enjoy. If there are other specific details that you are interested in, please e-mail me and let me know. Sincerely, David http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w171/ho...erno1/JeffSTAT/
  15. Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum. I am a flight nurse, and have always been fascinated by rotorcraft. Though I have several heilcopter models, I have never gotten much further than painting the interior platform. I would some day like to build my "daily ride", an EC-135. I have a lot to learn about the basics of helicopter modeling. I have seen some incredible builds here, and know that there is a vast amount of talent and knowledge amongst the members. I have a Revll BO-105 that I would like to model after one of the early local flight services from the '80's. I would also like to tackle
  16. Michael, Nice work so far. Can you share with us the steps and extra distance that you added to get to this point? I have one of the older Revell versions that I have wanted to do such a conversion of for a long time. Thanks! Sincerely, David
  17. Michael, Excellent build! I have long admired the 412, and began a home made conversion of the old Revell 1/32 scale Huey kit. As I am not much of a sculptor, I had tried to carve the new cowling and transmission housing out of dense foam block. The project has been stalled for some time... Your work is an inspiration! I may try to pick up one of the Dragon kits, and work from there. Could you share with us the sources for your cowling, and tubing for the high skids? Thanks again, beautiful work. Sincerely, David
  18. Andy, I prefer to use Tamiya White primer. It is thin, and is great at covering light colored plastic, or for undercoating for light colored finish coats. While it may be a little more expensive than some other choices, I prefer to think of it as an "investment" in assuring a good finish coat. Just my two cents. Good luck on your project. Sincerely, David
  19. Anthony, Beautiful work! I am new to this forum, and am very impressed. I am a flight nurse, and have had several helicopter models, but have never done much more than work on the interiors. I have much learning to do. I hope to build the EC-135 that I fly in at work. The graphics and paint scheme seem to be the biggest challenge at the moment. I also will need some basic instruction that I will outline in a separate post. Keep up the great work! I look forward to following your updates. Sincerely, David
