Thanks Ian, I was mislead by the owner of the small hobby shop that I purchased the Tamiya Flat from. I just read the "sticky" Paint Compatability posting that is at the top of the Tools 'n" Tips section. Am I correct in assuming that the PollyScale Clear Flat would be the way to go? Thanks. David

I recently purchased some Tamiya Flat Base, to use as to brush paint to top coat an acrylic finish color on an interior as well as a similar detail part. The result was a milky white finish. My intent was to use it like Testor's "Dullcoat",but without having the lacquer over acrylic compatability issues. It this base only meant to be airbrushed? I don't use my airbrush often, as I haven't mastered it. Perhaps now would be a good time to start... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, David

Speaking of UGLY helicopters, this is MONOC One. Commonly referred to as the "Creamsicle". The photo came from FLICKR, can't give credit to the photographer, as I don't know who took the shot. Georg, Welcome to the site. Vanderbilt is an excellent program, well known here in the US. I am a flight nurse, but don't have the luxury of flying on an EC145. Our ship is an EC135. Good luck with your project. You are off to a great start. I look forward to following your progress. There just aren't enough civilian and medical helicopters being built. Michael, It's great to see you and the LongRanger project back on the forum. It is a shame that no manufacturers have seen fit to produce one in larger scale(or at all). Thanks for yor replies. I just got my EC-145 model. After comparing it to my aircraft and the ADAC EC-135 model, I do see the many differences. I was just "hoping" to be able to use the opening doors to build a detailed model. I think that as this is my first aircraft model, that I shall start simple, and build it primarily out of the box. I will detail the interior as close to my aircraft as possible. There are a few of the parts from the EC-145 model that I can use, such as the seats, and wire strike kit to replicate my aircraft. Hi Guys, I am considering building a model of the EC-135 that I fly on. I have the Revell 1/32 scale ADAC kit, and just received the EC-145 kit in the mail. Wow, what a difference in detail between the two! My question is: can I use the EC-145 fuselage and simply graft the EC-135 engine and transmission cowling and tailboom to it? I am looking at gross detail, and may be missing something. I also haven't begun cutting any bits of plastic yet, so it's hard to tell. I know that some of you have used these kits in your different projects. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum. I am a flight nurse, and have always been fascinated by rotorcraft. Though I have several heilcopter models, I have never gotten much further than painting the interior platform. I would some day like to build my "daily ride", an EC-135. I have a lot to learn about the basics of helicopter modeling. I have seen some incredible builds here, and know that there is a vast amount of talent and knowledge amongst the members. Michael, Excellent build! I have long admired the 412, and began a home made conversion of the old Revell 1/32 scale Huey kit. As I am not much of a sculptor, I had tried to carve the new cowling and transmission housing out of dense foam block. The project has been stalled for some time... Your work is an inspiration! Andy, I prefer to use Tamiya White primer. It is thin, and is great at covering light colored plastic, or for undercoating for light colored finish coats. While it may be a little more expensive than some other choices, I prefer to think of it as an "investment" in assuring a good finish coat. Just my two cents. Good luck on your project. I have much learning to do. I hope to build the EC-135 that I fly in at work. The graphics and paint scheme seem to be the biggest challenge at the moment.
