  1. That is welcome news to go with the morning coffee! Though I will probably only buy a single A319, and maybe a couple of A321s, I will definitely go broke when the A320 is released. (hopefully someone will give us the Air Canada RAPTOR decals...........)
  2. And............ 417 Squadron will be painting up a CH-146 in WW2 desert scheme of Dark Earth over Middle Stone. (Note to Dave Winters, here's hoping you can fit the markings on the Hawk sheet in the 1/72, and 1/48)
  3. [/url] A Coyote keeps an eye on Tanker 487 as it stops into Lac la Biche for reload while working the Fort McMurray fire.
  4. Manuela - Helicopter U.S. Navy 66 I think of SeaKings sling loading Apollo capsules out of the ocean when ever I hear this song. (Although in German, and I still have no idea what it's really about!)
  5. Looks like the only trouble you may have in the decal art will be the white elipses on the upper wings and stabs. Sorry for the image quality. It was a cold windy cloudy morning, and clear images were at the limits of my camera setup.
  6. Just wondering if the 707 and KC-135s are still available. If they are, I will gladly take them off your hands for your asking price. I live in Alberta, so payment should be easy no matter how you prefer it.

  7. I have used it with pretty good results. It is not very good for anything structural, but it's great for working with clear parts and adding landing gear doors etc.
  8. edited what they said! Some quick guys on here, you got three replies while I was typing my original response
  9. Very nice! I would definitely like to see this one in kit form.
  10. Someone on here posted a few pictures of the Griffons and Chinooks while the OPS were going on, and was quietly muffled, so pics were rare, and limited to official releases. But, check out this nice article from Vintage Wings: http://www.vintagewings.ca/VintageNews/Stories/tabid/116/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/360/Art-of-War.aspx
  11. The main parts of the kit are still pretty nice. Just needs new clear parts, a new rotor head, better cockpit detail, and nicer wheels. If Revell were to invest in a couple of new sprues to throw in the box, I'd likely buy a few.
  12. 1/48 is known as O scale in the model railroading world. Check there for passenger seating, and if you really want to get crazy, you can also get seated passengers as well (even thier luggage)

  14. Straight from the can. The first time I used it was on the wings of a 1/32 sabre to replicate the dull interspar area. Since the nearest hobby shop is a three hour drive from here, I improvised with whatever I had lying around. When I first sprayed it on, I thought it looked kind of heavy, and I thought for sure my weekend would be all about solvents and sandpaper. Within minutes, it had dried to a very thin durable finish. It took masking so well that I now use it with confidence, and have since used it on two Tamiya Mustangs. I still recommend that you spray either a scrap model, or the in
  15. I see you are Ottawa, so this will be easy for you to find. As scary as it seems,go to your local Canadian Tire store, and pick up a rattle can of Armor Coat aluminum rust paint (47006RP522) I have used it on several models with great success. It goes on thin, covers well, dries quick, and stands up to handling, including masking.

    CC_737

Although Canada would never have replaced the Yukons with 737s, the CF did in fact plan on replacing the CC-109 fleet with the baby Boeings. The Cosmos were to replace the Dakotas as Nav trainers, and the 737s would have taken over the domestic transport routes. There were even drawings made up for the paint scheme! But in the end, the Convairs were retired, and the regular service flights were performed by chartered Canadian Airlines 737s instead. But I have to say, your model looks great in these markings. Well done!
  17. This may be helpful, if not nostalgic for you.
  18. Hard to believe that you guys had to "motivate" students to go into the fighter stream, but it was always nice to see visiting aircrews show off thier aircraft. It must have been frustrating for the Sea King guys who had to try and talk them out of it.
  19. There seem to be two styles used. The numbers on 723 are in the font designed for use on Canadian Military equipment, and have been around since 1958 or so. Before computers, the refinishers would apply the drawing to a mask, and cut it out by hand. Now, most of the markings are sent to a cutter often using a font native to whatever computer it was typed out on. Although the numbers are unusually spaced on 723, they are in the prefered font. Here's a picture comparing the two most often used lettering styles. I guess I should do an acticle online somewhere before I start hi-jacking these bui
  20. The aircraft didn't get too grungy while it was on the airshow circuit. The paint job was pretty fresh on this one. Weathering was pretty much limited to the under sides as shown here. Although, it is likely a little "grubbier" now that it is being used as a technical trainer. Last time I saw 703, was four years ago in the 10FTTS hangar at Bagotville
  21. Alf, Looks like you and I share a first. While you were at your "briefing" at the officers mess, I was out trying to get pics of the static aircraft before the ropes went up. I didn't get a heads up that the Hornets were coming in, but was lucky enough to have my camera when the two came in high alpha formation. That arrival is still impressed on my brain as well. I didn't know you were in Moose Jaw at the same time I was. I must have started you a bunch of times before we both went on to other fleets.
  22. Actually, the SUU-5003 is still used, however, it is only used for practice bombs since the CRV-7 rocket has been withdrawn from service. There is no "current load" for a 410 squadron Hornet! The aircraft are configured to maximize training in the most cost effective manner possible, and that configuration changes as the students progress through the syllabus. The configuaration Colin described is common, but not the only one you will see if you look around 410's ramp.
  23. If 140112 has the mods, I will get you some tomorrow, unless of course, you come to our little airshow at Cold Lake and take some of your own.
  24. Between this new scanner, and 3D printers, were almost at the point where we can "replicate" I think the possibilities for our hobby are obvious http://www.matterform.net/scanner#product_shots
