  1. Any update on this? It was announced well over a year ago.
  2. Could someone give me an unbiased update on the status of this kit? I've kind of lost the plot in this thread.
  3. Hi! No, not aware that this particular Mirage was special, as potent as it sounds. Just hoping for an accurate F1AZ in general. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. Correction, the F-1C was lengthened by 7 cm to accommodate the refueling probe.
  5. Yes, because it comes from the original Esci moulds which was based on the F-1C, and not the F-1C-200. Esci & Italeri simply conveniently included an extra refuelling probe to the same mould.
  6. Best modelling news of the year! Can't wait. I'm buying multiples. I am wondering though.... The F-1C-200 added about an extra 7 cm to accomodate the refuelling probe. I wonder if Kinetic will make it possible to accurately build the pre and post-refuelling probe variants. As far as I know, the Esci/Italeri kit only accurately depicts the pre probe model, while the Kittyhawk kit, only the post-probe model. Also, will we be able to finally accurately build the F-1AZ?:
  7. Go with the Kinetic. I've built both, and although both are nicely detailed, the modular design of the Kittyhawk kit is annoying, especially the dorsal hump behind the cockpit (which is awkwardly split into 2 pieces) Also, the the detachable aft section on the Kittyhawk kit does not fit very well either. Having said that I don't like how the Kinetic kit doesn't have a separate nosecone, but everything else is superior. I am actually waiting for a third manufacturer to come out with a superior kit than both.....come on AMK?
  8. When was the last time Hasegawa produced a new tool in 1/48? They used to be at the forefront, now being surpassed by the likes of GWH, AMK, Kinetic, ZM, and Hobby Boss/Trumpeter (in quality and/or production of kits). And Academy, when they came out with their new-tool F-4 in 2012, the possibilities for new variants were endless. Things have been very quiet on this front also. Thoughts?
  9. It's still alive. Hope they follow through with it.
  10. Hobbyeasy rocks! Service is always excellent, and often much cheaper shipping than Luckymodel. Any aftermarket decals available for this aircraft? I like the splinter camo schemes that I've seen online.

  13. One of my most anticipated releases ever! Still waiting for someone to release a state-of-the-art series of the Mirage F1 and Hawker Hunter...
  14. Looks like he's compiling the scans from http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ if I'm not mistaken...
  15. Hi again everyone, What do you guys use as the most effective panel line wash for aircraft? What can I do to prevent the existing paint from absorbing the wash (and staining the colour)? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello everyone, When masking camo on my jet models, I found that the Blu-tack has a tendency to remove some of the flat/matt paint that I am masking over, it also leaves a bit of residue upon removal. I don't want this to happen again on my latest project. I am thinking that either using a primer or putting a coat of gloss (acrylic clear or future) may prevent this from happening again. What do you guys think?
  17. Hi everyone, I've been doing a gradual switchover from enamels to acrylic paints for my jet modeling. I do not like the cleanup involved with enamels. There seems to be dissention on what the best airbrush thinner to use on acrylic paint and I am hoping to gain some clarity. I own acrylic paint from the following manufacturers: Tamiya Gunze Sangheo Vallejo Model Master Acrylic Mig Ammo Lifecolor I have read that there are a few alternatives for thinner, i have in the past used the wrong one and ruined the paint. I currently
  18. I contacted Kinetic about this last week and their response was "no schedule yet".
  19. Did the the designers of this aircraft borrow from the F-16 and F-18? Too similar to be coincidental.
