Hi all, I am just trying to put the finishing touches to a Hasegawa Mig-17PF in 72nd which i have done in soviet markings and bare metal finish. I am wondering though, there seems to be no pictures on the net which show an antenna wire running from the mast to the rear right of the canopy to the tail (like the mig-15 does), and this makes me think maybe there shouldnt be one on the PF? is it all included in the uprated radar/avionics in the nose? Likewise, should there be one on the Fresco F since this is the alternate 17 i intend to do soon. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Darren

Not entirely sure no, but i have a contact at RIAT so might just ask. Either way, i will probably park up somewhere close by and walk, unless they open the field at Whelford end again for £5 a day (seems good value to me!!!).

I live 8 miles from Fairford, so i will pop down Wednesday Thurs and Friday, and we have tickets for Sunday.

I am by no means an expert at these things... but i learned by my mistakes. Some of my first models looked much like yours, but they will get better with time. As some have mentioned here, an airbrush will give better results but it is difficult to master. Single color models are the easiest to practice with. I probably do 50/50 on the airbrushing to hand painting. My tip for great finish hand brushing is to use acrylic paint and thin it by a minimum of 80% paint 20% water before painting. The paint will then need several coats but if you use small strokes and applied thinly, the paint will dr

Nice job, any tips for brushing aluminium or silver? I never seem to be able to get a good enough finish?
