  1. I was like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! Trying to maneuver my camera and tripod around everybody and grab shots when they weren’t blocking the view!
  2. Man, I meant to go back and read about it but got distracted by the next display!
  3. Had an opportunity to fly down to New Orleans to visit the WWII Museum! What an incredible place this is. (Shot with my Nikon D610)
  4. Outstanding. I doubt any of us will ever see one of these built to this level again! 🤙
  5. Thanks. Now if I only had time to spend in there! 👊😐
  6. It’s been a minute since I started this thread but here’s a shot of the “mostly” completed workbench. The red cart is a mobile airbrush stand. I still need to build a small booth that’ll sit on top and vent out the window.
  7. Thanks. Good idea. I’ll have to check the spares and see if I have one. I’ll be bringing it down to the contest in Chattanooga, Tn next weekend and then handing it over to the friend I built it for after that.
  8. Thank you! After an 8yr hiatus, I’m quite happy with it! Thanks for following along!
  9. That’s a wrap folks! I appreciate all the help and advice along this journey! Here are a few “glamour shots”.
  10. Ok. After looking at it for a few days, I “googled” more pics and found that some stripes were brighter and yellow outlined in black. This contrast was much more interesting than my original. So, repainted and also added a “wash” of a sand/buff color overall. I also added the “grounding” port/wire that will attach to model. After a decent dull coat, it was attached to the base/frame. Getting close to the finish line now!!
  11. It’s a high density, compressed board. Used for shelving, cabinets and custom stereo setups.
  12. The helos basically done at this point. Working on the base at the moment. I’m building it in 2 parts. The ‘base’ with the framing. Which the plexi box will fit within. And then the ‘tarmac’’ which will fit inside the dimensions of the plexiglass box. Kinda hard to explain but will be easier to understand once it’s together. I used 1/4” MDF cut to the inside diameter of the plexi box. Drew out my pattern and “scribed” it. I also roughed up some areas for detail. After that I spray-painted some “stone” textured Krylon followed with white primer. N
  13. Thanks! I admit it was kind of a weird thread title to start with! Glad you came back to check it out. I’ve really enjoyed building this one. I still have a bit on the “to do” list but not as many as what’s on the “to done” list though!!! 🤘😎🤘
  14. Talked to Bill. He’s putting something together that should work for what I’m needing! Thanks for the referral!!
  15. Thanks. I’ll check it out. Thanks Floyd! Your kit was awesome! Regarding decal…. My plan was to have the decal printed on clear and then paint over it with the colors. Kind of like a “paint by number” in a way. I was going to print the art as just line but also with colors and see which worked best. Not sure if it’s the best plan but a plan nonetheless. Appreciate the plexi lead as well. I’ll let you know how it goes!!
  16. Question #1 Can anybody help me out with printing a decal? Apparently, my printer cannot do it!! I have the art ready and to size and can email it if you have decal film you prefer, or I can send the decal sheets through the mail! This particular bird had "nose art" and I would like to add it if at all possible. I can cover postage to and from! Question #2 I have also been trying to find a source for a plexi display case. Received a quote from an old source locally but the price was prohibitive! Sent quote requests to a couple of sources I found in a w
  17. Hope everyone had a great Xmas! Made a good bit of progress over the holiday. One of my favorite parts of the entire build is the weathering! Tried a little salt technique first. And then went to my tried and true, oils! More to come soon. Steve
  18. This is looking fantastic! Very inspirational!! Not sure if you know of or have considered Reedoak figures but the detail would certainly match the level of this build. Just not sure if he has anything that would match the timeframe. Looking fwd to future updates! Steve
  19. Ha! I was just glueing them up to the rotor head now! So, here’s one blade anyway.
