  1. Nice sheets this month! Especially the Early Eagles set. Very unique. Do you have any plans to do a stencil set for the singe seat F-15 Alpha and Charley like you did with the F-15E? It looks like you could just print the bottom section of the CD48150 sheet. Not pressing, just curious
  2. I'd love to see a camo F-84F on the sheet for my old Monogram kit. I usually like NMF, but for some reason SEA camo strikes a chord with me on these birds (as well as the F-86H - wish we had a nice 1/48 kit for that). It was cool to see them soldier on in warpaint with the ANG.
  3. Thanks for the reply Modeling Bob. Actually, I found an easier way at Swannys Models and gave it a shot, figuring that it was less risky than sanding. http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html Instead of a Q-tip, I used an eye shadow makeup applicator to avoid any more fuzz (A small oval sponge at the end of a plastic stick) and soaked it in windex. I used this to rub the spot and remove the Future. Then I resprayed the spot. It blended smoothed out on it's own. Lucky save. The Modeling Gods were smiling on me today. 🙂
  4. I just sprayed a really nice top coat of Future and as I'm admiring how nice it came out, under a bright light I noticed a long, thin hair embedded in it. (probably got stuck in the first coat) 😞 I also have a small run too. I did some searching around and found the most commonly recommended fix for the run is to let it cure a few days, then sand and polish it out. After that hit the area with Future again to get the gloss back. I'm thinking that this is probably what I should do with the hair too. Any thoughts or other recommendations?
  5. Nice. That sounds like a blast. I'm all the way out on the very west tend of the state. Very mountainous and very rural. We get some cool stuff flying out here. Mostly helos, but occasionally fast jets too. I've seen the SCANG Swamp Fox flying their vipers through here a few times. I was zipping through the back roads in a valley one day and had a C-130 roar right over me, very low. That was impressive, especially since I have a convertible.
  6. Thanks for the explanation BoeingDriver. Did you ever do any practice runs in the mountains at the west end of the state when you were flying the Eagle? About 10 years ago, we had one doing practice runs on our college campus. There was a whole crowd of us outside watching the free airshow. You could clearly see the SJ on the tail. They made about a dozen runs from different directions that looked like they were targeting a building at the center of campus. I just got this one sucky pic from a cell phone.
  7. Is that a Fighter Weapons School thing, or something the squadrons would fly on their own?
  8. Those are two I really need to visit. I'm located right between them. As far as the aviation museums I've visited, by far the USAF Museum in Dayton OH was the most impressive. Walking around and under the B-36 is an experience you will never forget. Udvar Hazy was my next favorite I spend two days exploring that place. The USS Intrepid in NYC was also very enjoyable and I also went there twice (The Cradle of Aviation museum nearby on Long Island is also worth a visit if you have the time). I was disappointed at the Smithsonian at the DC Mall. There are some historically
  9. Nice job on these. I can't wait to see what you do with the camo Bones.
  10. Does the CD48149 F-15E sheet include the CDB48006 stencils? Is it safe to assume the stencil sheet is just for those wanting to do more than one aircraft from the Lakenheath sheet?
  11. I'm late to this party, but that is great news. You rock KursadA!
  12. That is nice. Maybe I'll look again at a dual place G or S-conversion.
  13. Thanks Scooby. On the plus side, Iat least don't have to worry about masking that splinter camo. 🙂
  14. Nice sheet for one of my favorite aircraft! I didn't see this one coming until I got the email today. Just ordered a sheet. Does anyone know if the 1/48 Hasegawa "Red Baron" kit is appropriate for one of these? I was thinking I can do a CF-104 from that kit, not sure about one of the splinter camo examples though.
  15. That's a rare gem! Thanks for posting that.

That's a very attractive scheme. What time frame is that? Interesting that it has the low vis outline national insignia. Did they use the color national insignia with that scheme at any point?
  17. Good news! I'll be wiating to buy one of these too. The Revell kit actually lends itself much better to an early green/gray camo schemed bird.
  18. Very true. That's because we're used to viewing things through an atmosphere. Things look fuzzier and lighter as you view them from further away (the reason for the Scale Fade argument). In the vacuum of space, everything is stark and clear. It's hard to look at that picture and accept that there is 240,000 miles between those two objects.
  19. I've seen pictures of the Hooligans with the gun pod on the centerline, for Air Defense alert. This looks like a Ferry configuration. There's a baggage pod under the opposite wing. Perhaps going off to training, competition or a distant alert station.
  20. Good to know Murph! I should have caught that because I was just researching the APG-63v3 AESA and Golden Eagle upgrades. http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/f-15s-looking-for-the-aesa-edge-04044/
  21. Kind of the same question as this thread: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=286334 Correct, the Revell/Monogram kit does not have the MSIP II mods in any boxing. (I'm building one right now and have added the Wolfpak resin MSIP II updates to modernize it) The Academy F-15C kit advertises as having MSIP II in some boxings.

  23. Well there you go. If that's the case, then Two Bob's has a decal sheet that might allow you to build a Desert Storm aircraft. I don't see it stated on the sheet, but with some research on tail numbers, you could put something together. http://www.dstorm.eu/pages/en/usa/f-15.html http://www.dstorm.eu/pages/en/other/decals.html http://www.twobobs.net/contents/en-us/p646.html
