  1. Since it didnt come with any slat armor or other modifications that make it really stand out as an A6M i will stick with the Dragon 2A5/A6 kit. It just seems better overall. The only way the revell offering is a step ahead is the road wheels. Now if the revell kit came with options to represent a canadian A6M equivalent to the Hobby Boss 1/35 example then revell would have a winner.
  2. Ok so i have decided to reapproach this build from the exhaust. I have had the Aires set for it for quite some time...iI thought the people at eduard were bad. These flameholders are insane. Before i tackle painting though i need to know if the exhaust was white/ivory enamel coated like its US counterparts. Any pics i have right now are too dark or dirty to really tell.
  3. Very nicely done. If trumpeter can be that consistent in their later kits they will be a real contender in this scale. On a side note i saw a Raptor today. Did a high speed climb to altitude and then headed north.
  4. Sorry for the thread necropost. I have had alot of developments since the last post i made on this model. I still have the model and things have settled down again to where i think i can work on it. Please keep an eye on this space.
  5. aside from the usual civvie ones i have flown in a AN-124 Ruslan. Thats about it outside the norm.

try rubbing graphite on the tracks instead of silver. it will give a darker more realistic sheen of brunished metal. Other than that just add more dust in the recesses. Good build. Im also working on a magach 7C conversion using the legend set. You will need to replace the long strips down the side for mounting the armor skirt. They will be either badly warped or too short.
  7. Im in the Ogden area. And have some experience in painting RC aircraft. Small park fliers mind you. Could you be more descriptive. Old 3 color scheme new 2 color? Unit markings?
  8. The kit is in stock again on starship modeler for those who are interested https://www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index....rex.cfm#reviews
  9. Is this going to be the one they unearthed then ran over with an M1A1?
  10. I have the AAV-7A1 ram/RS kit and it is awesome. Full interior! Same with the AAV-7R kit. Also hobby boss did their homework on these. all the necessary differences between the 2 versions are there. For amphib fans they cant be beat. Definitely makes the old tamiya versions look like toys!
  11. Where did you get the figures from? Its hard enough finding preiser.
  12. Which itself has been put on hold till late 2011/2012 now.
  13. Drill a hole in the part and glue a piece of wire into the hole. Then use the wire to pull the part outward. Flow some thin CA glue into the seam and set it. Once its all cured and secure nip the bit of wire off flush and touch up the area by brush.
  14. Try flattening the main wheels a bit with a file. sometimes having that flat area helps keep it on its nose. Other than that it looks great.
  15. You may want to go to primeportal.net or even the ARC reference galleries for info on the bomb lift truck. The MJ-1 as its molded there is a vietnam era 3 speed version. There have been many large changes made to it over the years. Highly visible and importsnt changes i might add. http://www.hill.af.mil/shared/media/photod...F-2052H-004.jpg
  16. good stuff! Aside from the tires, what did you think of the academy stryker?
  17. the real things are a very very dark metal. Dark as tamiya gunmetal honestly. Match that and your in.
  18. From the one i got to see in the hangar id say the surface is actually rubbery like the nose of an F-16. Thats why i dont get those that mix metallics into the paint. there is no metallic to it. Its the texture the surface coating gives it. a very interesting satin finish on it really.
  19. Dont know if you want to replicate this detail but here it is. The 2 wedge shapes sticking up from the long rectangular vent next to the drivers hatch. Those are actually open hand holds. I replaced them on the academy one using stretched sprue. Dont know if you want to risk popping something off to get at them now though.
  20. Theres plenty of photo evidence out there showing panzer IVs running with the track both ways. SOmetimes either way on the same tank. I understand it something to do with getting more even wear out of the track cleat and more miles off them. Yes there is a "factory" way they should be but that gets thrown out in the field.
  21. That is lookin great. Keep it comin!
  22. Im going to do it straight nato green. My weathering process will provide the needed look. Im no stranger to weathering. I have become addicted to 1/72 scale in recent years. I still have some 1/35 kits around but for some reason they dont seem as fun. Heres an example of weathering on my academy dragon wagon. Im going to do a similar intensity of weathering on the stryker.
  23. Enjoy it. THe kit falls together it has some missing details up front around the drivers hatch though. those small round lugs all over hte surface are all missing from the academy drivers hatch. Heres some shots of mine so far with some Prieser figures and test stowage. the tires are the weak spot on the academy kit to me. no real tread. Id love to get some copies of the trumpeter wheels for it.
