  1. They were like that on hte E model too. Then again most of ours were still in their first coats of paint.
  2. Chaff only by the T pod/Sniper pod. General rule of thumb when loading it.
  3. Thanks guys. Dont know when ill get back on it. Not too long but i like to only work on it when i know ill have the proper time to devote to it.
  4. In the film he had Edwards markings. most of the on base filming was done at holloman but a couple edwards 22s were used for any shots of those.
  5. The ST on the F-15 tail says it all. Sheppard Training.
  6. Well another cool WIP derailed by stupidity.
  7. hehe already done. Ran a bead of Mr surfacer in there. Will smooth it with some 600 wet and retouch the grey area. I am considering leaving out the metal hinge gimmick and just gluing the flaps on and the leading edge slats. This will allow me to cut the notches in the flap like GDub did and save alot of frustration trying to line all that crud up. Also as visible as that little divot is on the area where the slat meets the fuselage im not going to try it. Its not that noticeable regardless.
  8. Thats all down to the way Chris made the intakes. Everything inside was painted before assembly. I actually brush painted that area. The light grey is PollyS IJN Sky grey. I like it for the underside so on friday im going to get some more bottles so i can do the whole belly when ready.
  9. Excellent work. I have seen the ew 1/32 tool and was very impressed with it. Before i move on to it though i have to finish my 2 1/48s. Cant wait to see more. Keep it coming!
  10. Thanks guys. I believe today i will work on some of the other parts like flaps, tails and such.
  11. Thanks! Oh Johan another detail to add if you want. Notice the divot to the rear of the nose wheel bay and the white rectangle in front of the rear strut mount for the nose gear. These have to be added. They are missing in the trumpeter kit but are noticeable details on the actual jet.
  12. Thanks man. I hope the rest of my cockpit turns out half as good as yours. Ill be leaving the seat and throttle off till last though so i can mask the cockpit easier. I like your idea for keeping dust out.
  13. Few more and some of the big kitty. He came by when i was shooting the pics so i thought id take some of him too.
  14. Okay. Decent size update today and alot of progress. I have installed the gear bays and painted all 3. i have also installed the Zactomodels intakes. Sweet pieces of work these. A bit of a gap at the rear where they meet the engine housing but nothing too bad. A skim of filler and some wetsanding with 300 grit will make those disappear. Fitting them was a little tricky but overall i feel i pulled it off well. The intakes were sprayed with Testors metalizer "burnt metal" it had a brownish hue that i feel matches the pictures. They look dark in pics but they are bright in person. I also double
  15. thats great stuff man. Doesnt look 1/72 at all. This will look great next to your Mig-29.
  16. Thats brilliant Aigore. Keep it up. If you aint havin fun you aint doin it right!
  17. Thanks Janman! WEll back to the cutting and grinding. Working on the main gear bays today. and will finish the tub painting on the cockpit as well. I hope to get the main fuselage halves closed today. One more win for this bird though. My wife said i could display the flanker on the mantle over our fireplace when its finished! YAY!
  18. I hear ya there. I have also seen the snake tail you menation. All i know is i want a nice grimy dirty plane in the end. Cant wait to see more. Im working on the wheel wells on mine today. I hope to have a big update tonight.
  19. Man i gotta play catch up now. But im in no rush. Great looking stuff there. Im still going over pictures to see which aircraft id like to do. Id like something different. Green tail panels and green nose seem attractive to me right now. The ones with the white nose and tail panels seem too light. The eye doesnt travel over the subject.
  20. Here it is all chipped up. I have also put down an initial layer of staining on the lower legs with burnt umber. Tomorrow ill hit it with some pastels to make it more dusty.
  21. Its from a series called Patlabor. Its mainly about police "Labors" but this mech design is used in 2 of the movies. Bandai does a series of 1/35 kits of the 3 different main labors and some other vehicles and mechs. Kotobukiya does the hannibal and a helicoptor from the same movie called the hellound. Both models can be found for sale at www.starshipmodeler.biz. Personally i like the series because while it does have mecha like this in it they dont spend episodes obsesing over them. It isnt a bad guy of the week series either. Also the machines are portrayed rather realistically in alot of
  22. thanks guys. It really is a sweet kit. No fit issues at all. You can find it in the starship modeler online store.
  23. This is the sweet little Kotobukiya (say that 3 times fast) kit. Its 1/72scale and stands roughly 6 inches tall when built. I cannot say enough good things about it. Forget their armored core kits. Those are overengineered junk compared to this. Like the AC kits it is snap fit and does rely on poly caps in some areas. Most seams are hidden under other subassemblies. The only seams of note are on the cockpit part, around the backpack, on the arms and right below the knees. These are so minimal that a skim of mr surfacer and some 300 wet got rid of them. Parts fit is very tight and positive.
  24. Thanks benner. If anyone elsewants to do one Hasegawa has repopped the Ostrich and the VE-1 Elintseeker kits. That is an AWACS version of the VF-1.
  25. The old monogram kit still builds up and looks good when given the right treatmet. I think you brought this one to life. Good work.
