Hey yas, It has been a while since I have asked this so I want to see what some others have heard since then. I spent some time with some family members including my brother-in-law the B-1 pilot. He asked about a "Sniper Pod". I have seen and researched some options for a 1:72 Sniper Pod and have found an option for an aftermarket Sniper Pod. It comes with two pylons, one for an F-15 and another for an F-16. I have been able to find many pictures of the Snipr Pod on a B-1 but the pylon seems to be quite wide. Am I going to need to scratch build one (I really don't want to) or are one of

Thanks for the input. That all eases my worry. BTW, I think everyone dips their canopies in Future. If not, they need to! My brother just got back into modeling and he had never heard of it but he is going to!

Recently I applied the Eduard canopy masking set to my 1:48 HobbyBoss A-10. After I applied them to the canopy I realized that maybe I should have waited for a while longer. I am VERY paranoid about tape residue. How long can I leave the masking set on the clear canopy before I get tape residue?

I haven't looked for any pictures there but I am sure that they have something you are looking for at www.airliners.net. I see them everyday on the real thing at work. They ARE on the wing tips like the B737 but they are double lights. Go to airliners.net.

Hey all, For my current 1:48 Hobby Boss A-10 (single-seater) I am looking for sprue tree "C"! Mainly the main landing gear. I have the white metal MLG but I like the detail of the kit parts. Maybe the twin-seat version MLG are the same. Can anyone help? Maybe someone has some in their spares? Thanks! Jetdx

YES! (that should help) those too. The one that I was thinking of was actually posted on ARC! I want to see if I am missing something or maybe there are easier ways of doing things that I am already doing.

I am looking for that post where the author made videos of modle building, I would assume. When I found them I was at work and there is no sound. Now we have no internet access at work so I can't even look for it. Could/would someone send me a PM with that link? That is if you think you know what I am talking about (it is hard to explain other than that). THX

I have tried pre-shading panel lines once but after I painted the entire model mypre-shading was gone. The only thing that I can come up with is that my final painting was too thick so that none of the previous pre-shading could show through. Is that right?

WOW thanks for the replys and pics! That will help!

I just saw the photo postings in the "walkaround" section. I would like to see more.

I am looking for AIM-9L close ups for a current project in work. I am starting to put a couple missiles together but I want to have an idea on how I am to paint them. THX!

*nodding* HMMMM I might just try that....THX KEEP 'EM COMING!!!

I don't do truck models...yet. A good thought to put in my mind though. The topic brought up a funny story. Background: my dad has driven semi for a VERY long time. Many years ago, when us 3 kids were still living at home we had a kid that we knew from down the street come to our door. Some of the kids of our street were playing a war game. It was dark outside so they thought it would be a good idea to use the grease off of my dad's truck's 5th wheel! ;) Several of them came to our door asking if we knew anyway of taking the grease off of their face. We knew that it would no

OK...yes that is what I like to read...keep them coming! :) What I should have pointed out is that I mainly mean when canopies are open.

This same topic may have already come up. Let me know what you have had success with and maybe what has been said before. How do you others mask off a finished cockpit for fuselage painting? As you probably know most, if not all, a/c models require you to put a finished, or almost finished, cockpit in half of the fuselage before putting the two halves of the fuselage together. Maybe I am doing it all wrong but I always have to paint the fuselage with a finished, or almost finished cockpit already installed. I have played with several different ways of masking off my cockpit before pai

Hey ya I have now and only have used a tankless compressor. I take that back...my first airbrush was an "el-cheapo" Testor canned propellent airbrush. Along the same lines as your topic is Post # 1834091. I am not sure how to copy and paste a whole topic that many have posted to and I don't have time where I am at to figure it out.

After seeing those pics I wouldn't mind seeing mine getting smashed or falling...LOL NICE!!

YES! The 1:48 has the same problems? It sounds as though you are talking about the 1:72 kit that I am about done with. The 4 degrees (is that what the instructions say?)...I just "eyeballed" them in place. The horizontals came off a couple of times before I thought about putting them on later. I have NEVER been so close to throwing an unfinished model in the garbage (I still might).

Sorry...I can't help you with your decal problem, but (as you can see on my signature, I am almost done with my 1:72 Sword T-38)how did you come up with a 1:48 T-38? Have you had the kit for a while? I think a 1:48 would have been easier than a 1:72. Many of the parts are quite small. Personally, I will never do a Sword model again. I wouldn't have done a Sword kit in the first place but it was the only T-38 I could find. Thx

I don't even know if this would be considered "soft-edge" camo or if it even has been said already (i haven't read all of the replies). I just free-hand tear masking tape to get a somewhat jagged edge and then place it where it needs to go. My first model (when I got back into modeling after about 10 years) was a MiG-29 and my first model using an airbrush. I free-handed the camo pattern on that. I used the instructions as a rough idea of what color to put where. My camo spots got bigger and bigger when I didn't like how it looked. That is the only time that I free-handed a camo pattern.

OK...something to think about. THX! Question though: They mentioned unpainted/ painted parts. Would it not matter if the parts are painted? What about vinyl tires on plastic hubs? I would hope painting them would make a difference. I built a motorcycle a couple of years ago and it has vinyl tires on plastic hubs. I did have to paint the hubs. Although, now that I think of it, it was a Tamiya kit.

I wish I would have read all of your post the first time. I was just excited to be able to put my input in! Have you looked at the "Tools and Tips" section (not of this forum) on the original (home?) page of ARC? If not, that is a good place to look or start/

I am be off a ways but what I do for gluing canopies to fuselages is just plain old Elmers Glue. I have heard/read many ways to mask canopies. My first choice is a masking set! Many times that is how I determine what model to do/buy next. I look to see if there is a masking set offered for it then I go find the model corresponding to the masking kit. I use a masking set for my CH-53E. That is where I got my first taste of a masking set. It worked out GREAT and makes masking MUCH, MUCH easier! It and maybe any masking set requires a liquid masking agent. It seems like Elmers glue but

I just read a review where they mentioned keeping vinyl parts (tires) off unpainted sprue pieces. I have never heard of such a thing. What happens? Is this one of those common things that I have never heard before? Is this something to be concerned about?
