  1. No, I cut them off and used a pin to rejoin them with the rotorhead. I also closed the gaps at the exhaust and replaced the gunbarrels with hollow needles.
  2. I would cut them anyway - just to angle them like in the picture above. I think it gives more life to the model.
  3. Absolutely brilliant - that's a model I'd like to have in my showcase.
  4. You're absolutely right - the tail rotor has to be corrected. Great hint! And of course thank you for your other very useful informations. The Italeri Kit also seems to include the wrong external fuel tanks for that period of time Storage space is not the problem - I just like helos folded. I found a picture of one of those birds rolling off a C-5 and they simply folded the tail, dismounted one of the tail rotor blades, dismounted the pylons for the external fuel tanks and dismounted the whole main rotor system including the transmission.
  5. Hello fellow modellers, I'd like to build a Vietnam aera HH-53C (Italeri 1/72) and two questiuons came up. 1. Were they ever folded? I've searched the net for pictures but I wasn't able to find a folded HH-53C in SEA-colours anywhere. What I found were pictures of a folded HH-53C built from LEGO bricks. 2. What's the best choice for the SEA-colours? I prefer Tamiya or Mr.Hobby but every good hint is welcome.
  6. Can't say - I just took a short look at the decals and the instructions. Perhaps I try to get the Eduard pe-set for it. But I want to build it closed and folded - no need to spend weeks and weeks of interior detailing.
  7. Hi spejic - you spotted the missing line and so I had the chance to correct it. Here it is.
  8. I just love the green/grey/black-scheme on those Marine Corps helicopters - I personally think that they never looked better.
  9. Those are very helpful informations - thank you! There are some black markings in the kit but it looks like they changed the markings when they used the land scheme. On every single photo I found the CH-46s always had two big capital letters on the tail doghouse. Those are not included in the kit. I even found some pictures where the markings were applied in green on grey surface and in grey on green surface.
  10. Hi guys, I have the Fujumi CH-46E/F in 1/72 in my stash and would like to do it in the 3-tone land scheme (grey/green/black). So two questions came up: - Is it the right kit (version) for the job? - can I get decals for that scheme anywhere? I only found MAW-Decals in 1/48
  11. Hello spejic! Thank you very much for the nice comment and your 'eagle eyes'. It is definetly a fault because after sanding the joint I obviously forgot to rescribe that line. I Think I can still rescue this by using a resin saw. Good find! Since Photobucket changed their policy I have no webspace to show the pictures. You can fing pictures of the build here on scalemates.com: LINK An obvious mistake of the kit is the tailrotor turning in the wrong direction. If I found out earlyer in the build, I had the chance to correct that.
  12. The tailhinge was detailed with leftovers from othe pe sets.
  13. Hi, this is the Dragon 1/144 SH-60B I started this year for the arc helicopter groupbuild. In may I broke my left elbow so I wasn't able to finish it in time. I like folded NAVY helicopters so I used the Brengun pe set to make this little helicopter even a little bit smaller. Some other changes were: - detailing the rotorhead - scratchbuilding holders for the rotorblades - adding a number of antennas, including the wire antenna on the right side - lower the gear - rearanging the interior - etc.
  14. Hi gents! My little Dragon Seahawk in 1/144 is nearly done (picture below) and I decided not to mount the torpedos on the helicopter. Since they are included in the kit I thought about presenting them on a loading cart. I searched the net but wasn't lucky. Do you have informations about loading carts for torpedos? Are there different types used on aircraft carriers and othe ship types? The SH-60B uses Mk.46 torpedos, right?
  15. I'm a little late for the groupbuild but I wanted to show the little Seahawk in this thread, now that it's nearly done. Again thank you for all your kind comments and the next time a helicopter groupbuild will be launched on arc I'm definitly in.
  16. She's a beauty - congrats to the young family!
  17. Great progress! I really like the doghouse.
  18. Thank you guys! Surgery went well and when the wound is healed and pain is less I'll see what can be done. So much time and so little to do...
  19. I have to announce, that this build has to wait some days because I broke my left arm. I hope I'm able to finish it untill the end of the group build.
  20. Since my little Makita killed the holder of the rotormast I had to scratchbuild a new one. Closed it looks like this but you won't see the step because the swash plate will cover it. As you can see I allready filled and sanded the seams. Not much surfacer was needed. I later rescribed the panel lines. I also started to scratch the locks for the rotorblades. First stick some thin rod through thin sheet... ...and then cut it in shape. Sorry for the bad focus but my camera had some problems getting a sharp image
  21. That UH-1H is just WOW! Great build, great painting, great weathering and even better photos. Love it!
  22. Very nice build and it's even nicer, that you have a relationship to that special helicopter. Looks like you put some extra-effort into it to get it right.
  23. That's some nice plastic surgery there.
