  1. My dude room is painted something close to Flat Gull Grey. With the windows open it looks more grey than beige and in artificial light it looks more beige than grey.
  2. I just finished my first year of teaching and started my summer vacation 2 weeks ago. Since then my bench time has been at an all time high. I mean like 8 to 12 hours a day at the bench. It's pretty amazing considering during the school year I'm lucky if I can get an 2 hours in a week. Are there any other teachers taking advantage of this time? Also, sorry if it seems like I'm bragging.

DUDE! This is all sorts of awesome!
  6. It looks like your link isn't working. But I have what you're looking for. Shoot me a PM so we can work something out.
  7. "In all I will have 36 Monogram 1/48 scale Tomcats on shelves with a painting of Tomcat on the wall behind them all. I call it my "wall of Tomcats" That sounds like magic! Please post pics of that!
  8. Screen Printing of this sort of nature just isn't practical. I studied printmaking in college (I know, I realize that sounds like such a bullcrap thing to study, but I'm a high school art teacher now so...) Anyway, like I was saying its just not practical. For one getting two colors to register is hard enough now add the extra TIA of trying to get it on carrier film and you're opening a can of worms. Another thing is you just can't use paint on a silk screen. It dries faster than printing in and ruins your screen rather quickly. If you'd like some more info on the screen printing process fee
  9. "Oh man, I really need to open a window. These fumes are getting a little stro....THUMP!!!"
  10. You could try using THIS! if you can't fine one. It's designed to fit the Revell Tomcat so by no means will it be a perfect fit. But, depending on your confidence in your modeling ability with some putty and some sanding it should be just fine.
  11. "SON OF A BI@&;#*MOTHER F?@!%=\, PIECE OF SH&$,G&$ D#%M IT!!! WHY WONT YOU FIT!!!... ...Oh, it's goes on the left side."
  12. I've been planing for this show since I missed it last year. I'm really looking forward to it. Who else is going this weekend?
  13. HOLY WOW! I'll take 2! (if you ever plan on selling them)
  14. Thanks again for all the complements. Scott - For the exhaust area, I just armed myself with tons of reference photos. Google is great but, also never underestimate a trip to your local library. You just might be surprised with what you can find hidden in the stacks. As far as achieving that "burnt exhaust" color, I used Model Master Acrylic paint and an oil paint wash. I used 4 for different colors thinly layered until it looked right to me. I started of with a base coat of black, then a thin layer of aluminum, then another very thin layer of black, an even thinner layer of jet exhaust, then
  15. Very nice! I really like that you kept the weathering subtle.
  16. Very cool! You knocked this one out of the park
  17. I usually keep ordnance off of my models as it is how the aircraft actually looks most of the time sitting on the ground/deck.
  18. Thanks Cliff, I'm glad you like it. Scott, thank you for the the kind words. That is the reason I intentionally do not arm most of my models, especially naval aircraft. You rarely see jets parked on the flight decked fully loaded unless they are getting ready for mission. David, I can't wait to see your phantom now. And yes those decals are still avalible. http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/sbm010.htm
  19. There is a Border Patrol Air Station a few miles where I live and we have all sorts of Huey's fly over all the time. The whole house shakes every time one flies over. Its pretty awesome for me but dogs think other wise.
  20. I noticed that in the photo then when I went to check the model it wasn't as noticeable but it is slightly off. Thanks for pointing that out.
