  1. Hi all, I just painted a jet exhaust with humbrol polished steel (27003). And I wish to recreate this effect: The base coat is just I hoped it would become. I thought about using thinned oil paints to creat this effect. however as fat as I know, oil paints can only be thinned with turpentine. I obviously can't use turpentine with out future coating it first.... I am afraid that the future will disrupped the bare metal finish I have achived.... and also, while we are on the subject.... say I want to decal a bare metal area, how is it done? do you add a seal coat? Thank you Liran
  2. Hi all, Any tip for spraying the inside of a jet exhaust? High pressure? Low pressure? thick thin? Thank you
  3. I am more than happy to announce: NOTHING HAPPENED!! The decals that were touched by the microsol wrinkled a bit on the decal sheet.... once they were dry (overnight) I just applied them as normal... and all the wrinkles faded away after another application of microsol. I CANNOT tell you how relieved I am!!!!! Cheers, Liran Bar
  4. well, i belive you have a point there however a scale model will never look realistic enough without some shading since it is scaled down, and small objects produce less shade than large objects. therefore i dont belive i will see anything like post shading on the real bird... that is why i asked the question. thanks liran
  5. do you think I should cut the mirror decal into two parts before applying it to the other wing?
  6. well... it's concave... but I am afraid the issue is not fixing the dent it how to make the mirror decal perfect, and also fix the opening that is currently blocked partially by the decal.... and most importantly learning for my next tricky decal application....
  7. well here we go... the attempt: take a look at the tunnel area... some of the decal is covering the opening and the decal has lost it's round shape... it has been 8 hours and 2 applications of microsol.... (please ignore the rest of the bubbles and wrinkles - they have already been fixed....) What should I do to fix this...?
  8. Hi all, Do you think that decals should be post shaded as well? I am talking about highlighting the center of the panels and darkening the panel lines... Liran
  9. thanks.... but are you sure the decal won't be "sucked" into the hole?
  10. well I found an image! Have a look at right side of the image, in the lower right section of the blue circle.... there a one sided tunnel ressembling bump... and I belive that is not related to the radiator..... This is the what that scares me...
  11. Thank you for your comment... How about that exhaust looking bump under the spits wing? This must call for the cutting method right?
  12. Help me!!!!!! I spilled microsol over the decal sheet! some of the big decals look wrinkled....!!! when will it be safe to take them off the sheet? any solutions??? what a disaster!!! Liran
  13. Hi all, Just wanted to know if you guys have any tips and tricks reguarding decalling in problamatic locations. I am about to decal the down side of my spit's wing. The big circle (I am sure there is a better name for that circle which I am not familiar with...) is located in a decal nightmare!!! right over this exhaust like vent and a couple of antennas..... I have no idea how to tackle this!!! Help please! Liran
