You're not wrong about them getting a bad rap. I have a flat-plate -58 not too far from me if reference is needed. The guys actually want to back-date it to round glass because they hate the flat plate. Last -58s came through my local airport just a couple months ago. They were from CA going east to some agency or place. A nearby agency got 3 -58C's from Ft. Polk late last year too. Also, to look into Loach Drivers comment about autopilots in the 407, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they had it. Many HEMS 407's have them. At least more recent airframes.

Yeah Ray, also you may need someone to go with you that flies -58s to make sure the research is correct.......and needs to go to the back hangars at the museum. May need to make a flying day out of it..... Weather has sucked lately, but, maybe we can plan something out.

I'm a little late to this party, but, we have a Trakka on one of our birds. If you need info other than that link above, I can try and get it. That said, one of the Revell kits had a Trakka on the skid, I don't remember if it was an ADAC ec-145 or REGA kit. One of those had it in 32nd. No clue if that info helps. Edit: So I can't find the old kit pics from most sites, but, the current "Airbus E145 Police" kit has the Trakka on it. 32nd is pretty close on this item anyways.

The paracord is how they stabilize the weapon. It is the most common way to do it, at least from the "super sniper dudes" I've talked to. I am not a super sniper dude, so, I rely on what they tell me. I'd guess that, from that steep angle of the wood and rifle (while not in flight), they were way above the target, or in a decent orbit.

Yeah. Interestingly, the Cyclic is removable and is connected electrically, but, the collective is still a physical connection. The operation is automatically reversed for the guy flying from the back. I missed the Skycrane leaving this morning, and I am bummed about it. But, I gleaned a lot of info from them while they were here.

That is a freaking great idea. I love WHIF's. I was talking to the Sky Crane pilot today, and to further back up what he said the other day, he said they rarely had any pods at all. Almost always were hoisting loads or slinging them. Very interesting helo, as they would have THREE pilots onboard.

Wait, are you saying the helo was a 'nam veteran with the "Miss Behavin'" nose art, BEFORE it belonged to Canada? I would like to know more, but, I am too lazy to look into it. Also, I spent all day in the heat of Alabama today, and am about to do the same tomorrow.....so, I appreciate any info. That being said, I'll be flying an OH-58 tomorrow that is older than me, and that my father may have flown. Good times. I like flying it more than the TH-67.

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone made a searchlight like the trakkabeam. The Revell H145 Polizei 32nd kit has one, but, I don't need an entire kit just for the light. Really, any searchlight for that matter, but, my agency has a trakka on one bird. We have two non-flying birds that were given to us that have nightsuns on them, which is why I'd go for just about any option. Interesting question. I've never seen any. However, I am not the authority on modeling like some of these guys are. I'd like to find better window myself, so I will keep my eye on this. Though, if history remains true, there will be little love for the 206/Kiowa.

I've got a couple of the Revell 32nd kits. You can get high skids from a guy in Europe that makes them for R/C helos in 32nd. They are 3d printed and look good. He was also good to deal with (if only I had a link to them!). If you need any reference shots, let me know. I have two OH-58A's (upgraded later) that are taken apart, and three OH-58C's in the hangar. The C's have a different panel, which is the main difference interior-wise. External, the only differences are antenna locations. Also, do you have contact info for the Sheriff's Office guys?
