  1. Hi Litvyak, The correct load out for that particular mission was 2 x R550 Magic, one on each wingtip and one natural metal colour droptank on the centreline
  2. The canopy profile on the Kinetic Kit definately looks the best to me.
  3. Thank you very much Koen, I appreciate the guidence Cheers Greg
  4. Dark earth all over with green disruptive pattern only on upper and side surfaces. If you PM me your email address I will send you some photo's and the serial numbers
  5. Hi, I understand that the A-4SU Skyhawk was an upgraded A-4C...new engine, avionics etc but I have the Hasegawa 1/48 A-4SU and would like to build an A-4B or C. Besides the obvious big air intake on the side of the SU fuselage, were the air intakes and nose any different to the A-4C? Is it a simple matter of leaving off the big fuselage intake and various antennae to backdate it to an A-4C? Thanks
  6. Thanks for looking all the same Larent I appreciate it.
  7. These tanks were a little bit bigger (about 600 litre if I remember correctly) than the supersonic wing tanks (500 litre) but smaller than the standard "subsonic" tanks. I read on a forum somewhere that the air/ground crews referred to them as "supersonic" tanks http://www.saairforce.co.za/seed/public/files/gallery/3/9/39/4ff6fd8a86593_large.jpg http://www.saairforce.co.za/seed/public/files/gallery/3/9/40/461518f916545_large.jpg http://www.saairforce.co.za/seed/public/files/gallery/3/9/76/468a4b6eee3b8_large.jpg http://www.groundshout.co.za/profiles/aircraft/mirage_iii/profiles/mirage_ii
  8. Dmanton300 your Kfir looks stunning! To me it looks like both are great kits and I was waiting for the AvantGarde Models kit because I want to support the new companies that are bringing out some much needed kits (Like their proposed 1/48 L-29 and Fouga Magister). But for me one of the defining beauties of the Mirage/Kfir/Cheetah series is the shape of the cockpit windshield and canopy. Sadly the AvantGarde Models Kfir has this part misshaped, the Kinetic one looks great to me so based on that I am going to go with the Kinetic kit. I see that the AvantGarde Kit has the centreline superson
  9. Jy's welkom Broer! :thumbsup:/> I have been keen to give one of those conversion kits a try myself but haven't got around to it yet.
  10. Hi Cobus try these guys they do conversions that you can use based on the Heller 1/48 Mirage III, These are all 1/48 scale Pantera will give you Cheetah E : http://eagledesigns.50megs.com/48ck28.html They do a Cheetah D conversion : http://eagledesigns.50megs.com/48ck18.html and Kfir CE will give you most of what you need for Cheetah C except the rear fuselage on the Kfir is shorter, fatter and Cheetah does not have the air intake in front of the tail fin (very basic summary) : http://eagledesigns.50megs.com/48ck30.html Here is the home page scroll down for 1/48 conversions. http://eagl
  11. Wow stunning...and in such a small scale too well done, I have the Frems 1/48 scale one awaiting my attention!
  12. Very nice, I have been inside USS Cavalla at Sea Wolf Park in Galveston she was a Gato class sub but was converted to a new class around 1951
  13. Wow! An awsome build and stunnung finish!
  14. I have the Revell kit and the "Fightertown" VA-75 decal sheet thanks. I found this on VA-75 dedication site regarding "the Sunday Punchers" name: "In boxing the Sunday Punch is the most powerful and effective punch of a boxer. In the armed forces it is anything capable of inflicting a powerful blow on a hostile or opposing force"
  15. Hi Does anyone have the Kinetic 1/48 A-6A/E Intruder Kit and will be happy to part with the decals for: •A-6E, 151781, VA-85, NH/801, USS Kitty Hawk Most importantly I need the "USS Kitty Hawk" titles and "NH" tail letters but the complete set for this aircraft would be great I would appreciate to buy them if necessary. Thanks
  16. Thanks for that info Jim, I will give it a try.
  17. Ok so its Kitty Hawk with NH tail codes then. Thank you very much to everyone for the information, I really appreciate it. I dont find a 1/48 decal sheet anywhere for the NH coded A-6 but I guess could mask and paint the NH codes and use most of the fightertown decals for this squadron...only real snag is to come up with the "USS Kitty Hawk" titles for the fuselage, any ideas?
  18. Hi Folks, Could anyone help with the following info as I have found conflicting information so far? VA-75 "Sunday Punchers" flying A-6A Intruders did a cruise Off Vietnam in 1967. 1.Were they on USS Independance or Kitty Hawk? 2.Were the tail codes AG or NH? I have seen paintings etc depicting the aircraft of VA-75 in this time frame wearing both tail codes. 3.Would their A-6A's at this stage have the perforated or blanked off airbrakes or would it vary between aircraft? Anyone have photo's of these aircraft during this cruise? I acquired the Revell/Monogram A-6E along with the "Fighte
  19. Hi folks, Is the center line drop tank used on the A-4M/N Skyhawk the same as the center line tank used on the A-6 Intruder? It appears to be a bit bigger than the standard A-4 drop tanks but is rounded at the back with no fins. I need one of these tanks for a 1/48 A-4 and was thinking of using the A-6 one. Here are the Revell A-6 Intruder tanks, I am referring to. http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/rm/images/rm_a-6e_parts4.jpg

  21. Hi Floggerman, I don't have access to "Model Airplane International", could you please tell me what the "interesting news" is?
  22. Correct, SAAF used Mirage IIID2Z (Atar 9k50 engines similar to F1 engines) and simulators as trainers for the F1CZ's and AZ's If I remember correctly the IIID2Z's were delivered fairly close to the F1s delivery.
  23. Than you all for your input. The colour scheme is for an Angolan Mig-21MF in the 1976-1982 time period
