  1. Thanks Cloggy for the info, I have seen the Two Bobs sheets but I'm kind of wanting to stay away from the Aggressor a/c, and was hoping for something along the lines of the 50th Anniversary scheme but as said the specials were mostly confined to the J's. I think at this point I'm edging towards an IDF/AF "Baz" but if anyone has some good ideas of any D's I'm all ears. Thanks again all for the info Scott
  2. Thanks Curt. Will post a trade/buy request in the trade section.
  3. Hi all, Since 2001 what USAF units have deployed for OEF(Afghanistan) with the F-16D. I know most, if not all units use a couple of D's for training/proficiency purposes, but I'm after units that deployed the D in a combat role and preferrably carried nose art of some sort. Thanks in advance Scott
  4. Ok had a better look through the net for some photos, and can comfirm that it is a standard drop tank on the Port wing pylon with a Python 3 & 4 on the pylon launch rails. Unfornately I now notice that this a/c is fitted with CFT's(conformal fuel tanks). Can these be purchased seperate or would the ones out of the Revell F-15E kit fit or I'm I stuck.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. Had a look at Platz decals but all their sheets were for single seat J's and I think only one option on a sheet covered a normal schemed DJ. The 50th Anniversary schemed DJ any ideas who it was that done the decals for it? I'm swaying towards the idea of doing it as a IDF/AF "Baz" with a couple of AGM-142 Popeyes on it. From the pictures that I've only glanced at so far, the only differences I can see is the engines for starters and a different shape antenna under the nose. Also, in this picture http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111/sc...ldr/1521650.jpg is that
  6. Need some questions answered regarding the Israeli F-15D Baz 1. What ejection seats would be fitted? Aces II but early or late versions? 2. What is the difference in the AGM 142 Popeye and AGM 142 Have Lite? And what are these fitted to this a/c inc centrline data pod? http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t111/sc...ldr/1521650.jpg 3. What AAM's would be carried ? Python 3 or 4 and would the IAF adaptor rail be used if Popeyes were fitted on the wing pylons Anything else that may be of importance to building a Baz is gratefully appreciated. Thanks Scott
  7. Got the above Hasegawa kit as a Christmas present, and was wondering what options I have decals wise. The kit comes with decals for 3 different "Aggressor" a/c but as with most Hase decals they are thick and heavy so I won't be using them. With the execption of the Two Bobs "Aggressor" releases, what else is out there for a Japanese "Deagle" any special schemes apart from the Aggressor? Also what are the differences between the DJ and say a Israeli or USAF D a/c? Thanks in advance Scott
  8. Great builds, especialy like the 1st Kiwi Skyhawk.
  9. First up 1/48 Hasegawa A-7E Corsair, Hellenic AF then 1/48 Hasegawa F-4D Phantom, Republic of Korea AF (converted from a F-4J) then 1/48 Tamiya F117A Nighthawk, 85th Test Group USAF. and finally 1/48 Hasegawa RF-4E Phantom, Hellenic AF So thats another year gone, best wishes to all for 2010 and happy modelling. Scott
  10. Latest one of the bench 1/48 Hasegawa RF-4E Phantom, with Aires camera/wheel bays/ exhausts, DMold Intakes and Icarus Production decals. RF-4E 77-1765 348 MTA "Matia"(Eyes) Sqd, Larisa AB. Hope you like Best wishes for 2010 to all Scott
  11. Depending on the finish Tom wants, a wash probably will be enough against the Ghost scheme. I'm just finishing off a Hellenic RF-4E (SEA scheme) and the White stencil needs toning down with Smoke. You'll need lashings of MircoSol and MircoSet for the Icarus stencilling and Phantom decals as they are pretty thick compered to some of their other sheets (A7E Corsair/F16/Mirage 2000). Scott
  12. Hi Tom Definately White stencilling on that aircraft. I have just used both the Icarus Productions Grey and White stencil data, and the Grey is very dark. The White might need toning down which can be done by giving the complete model a light misting with Tamiya Smoke once all the decals have been put on.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys, decals aren't really a problem as it could end up Saudi, Israeli or Japanese. It was the kit in general I was interested in and your answers have answered my questions Cheers and Merry Christmas Scott
  14. Hasegawa do 2 versions of the F-4E. The earlier "Hard wing" (non slatted) and the later Slatted wing. I think you will need the Hard Wing, also the gun muzzle had a different profile on the earlier versions. You will definitely require a weapons set. Some interesting reading and info here http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=148643
  15. The first colour Phantom is an "E" the second looks like an RF-4E, the Black and White photo I can't tell. The best kit I found was Hasegawa's F-4J which can easily be converted to a F-4D using AirDocs conversion kit. The Hasegawa F4C/D has raised panel lines were as the "J" has recessed. Aires do both early and late F-4D cockpits and burner can kits. If you go with a "J" kit you will need to obtain the rounded under wing pylons that the USAF used opposed to the the straight edged USN/USMC ones, also the rear stablilizers were of the non slotted type. See link for a conversion I recently und
  16. Hi all, As the title suggests I'm after some advice on Hasegawa's 1/48 F-15DJ Eagle, especially the "Aggressor 2008" boxing, although they are probably all the same kit. How accurate is the kit, are there any errors in the moulding or parts? How does it build up to represent the real thing? Can it be easily coverted to a standard D(Saudi Arabian)? Is the cockpit of a DJ similiar to a D I would probably replace the cockpit with an Aires one(if they do one) and probably replace the burner cans as well and use aftermarket decals. Thanks in advance Scott
  17. IIRC the United States and Pakistan came to an agreement on the original F16 airframes that were embargoed then transferred to the USN. Basically the United States are providing the Block 52+ and some second hand Block 42/52? at a cut down price. The US DoD were keen to kept the F16A/B as it far more beneficial in the Adversary role than tying up a newer and more usable C airframe. I don't think the Pakistani F16's will keep the Hi-Viz marks for long, as they were probably only applied for the hand over ceremony.
  18. Does anyone have decent pictures of the VMFAT-101 FA-18D in the 3 tone Grey/Green scheme with the large Red star on the tail? I saw some the other week but can't remember where. I would like to see side on Port and Starboard and Topsides if possible. Thanks in advance Scott
  19. Have dealt with Joe at Flightdecs a couple of times, as said he is a one man show and Flightdecs is a sideline to his full time job. He was seriously ill last year for a while so the business did slip a bit. On one occassion that I used him, the decals went missing for about 3 weeks before being returned to his address, but his comms was top notch and he always said he would send a replacement set or issue a full refund if they never turned up(I received them second time of postage). I have spoke to him several times on the phone and he comes across as a genuine bloke and always ready to help.
  20. Yes I'm sure you could. As Spike said the lack of Sky Shadow in this kit means it will be staying on the shelf this afternoon. I was planning building one in RSAF markings but require the Sky Shadow to do so. In all fairness this kit is boxed as an IDS and not a GR1/GR4 which probably is the reason behind the RAF decal opition as the TWCU were normally the only a/c seen in an Alpha fit(storeless) , the GR1/GR4 versions are meant to be following this one onto the market in the future along with the ADV and ECR variaints. Spike, out of curiosity what were the Alarm carrying a/c designations if
  21. The Alarms were used on RAF Tornado's, although only the GR1's of 9 & 31 Sqns (were these a/c GR1A's ?) were capable of carrying and firing them until the GR4 upgrade. I'm pretty sure that back in the days of the TWCU/45®Sqn only GR1 & GR1(T)'s were flown so the decals are a bit useless unless you want to do a clean bird. The UK price for the Tornado is £34.99 and I'm going to see one in the flesh and maybe pick it up this aftrernoon.
  22. The Hellenic RF-4's (ex Luftwaffe) are gradually being repainted in the SEA scheme with reduced size of roundels/fin flashes. The picture in the above post isn't a true Norm 83 scheme as the colours used on this particular a/c are based on FS 595 and not RAL as used by the Luftwaffe.
  23. Airdoc do a F-4J conversion to the C/D that includes the HERPES pod
