  1. Hi Rick, I have used that method to rid decals of the Yellowing and it works over a couple of days, not sure if it would fade the decals though before the decal film was ruined.
  2. Hi all, In the middle of building an RF-4E in the markings of the Hellenic AF and have came across a small problem. The Grey stencil data from Icarus Productions that I bought is too dark and dosen't show up against the SEA scheme of the a/c. From photos that i have seen the stencil data appears to be a shade of Light/Med Grey close to Compass Grey but the decals are close to Anthracite Grey(nearly Black). Is there a technique that allows you to lighten decals? Thanks in advance Scott
  3. As Reddog above, I used Squadron Green putty and sanded smooth. I was going to use a Seamless Sucker one but couldn't get it to fit in with the Aires cockpit and wheelbay. In addition to what Reddog says above regarding the intakes colour, note that Greek and Portuguese A7's the intakes were Green for a considerable distance inside.
  4. From the artwork definitely Slotted stabs, but the a/c on the pedestal at NAS Key West has Unslotted stabs(if its the actual a/c and not a clone)
  5. Basically any colour from Natural Steel through to Black, depends on the jet and weather it has recently been through the wash pan or maintenance. Consult your references to determine exact matches

  7. Some of the later build RF-4E's had the slatted wing as well, although I doubt this would be a problem within the kit. I have never seen the 1/72 kits so don't know whats in there but also watch out for the triangular strengthening plate on the rear stabilizers, most of the RF's didn't have it.
  8. Cheers guys thats what I was seeing myself, nice to have some one else comfirm it though.
  9. Hi all, Currently in the middle of building a Hellenic AF RF-4E "Recce Toom" and was wondering if export Phantoms used the Hi-G F15 Type Centreline fuel tank. The a/c that I'm building is from the initial batch of 8 delivered in the late 70's and not a ex Luftwaffe a/c. Some photos that I have seem to show the USN style of centre tank and not the F-15 type. Thanks in advance Scott
  10. I have never seen or heard of any evidence of the "Scooter" carrying AGM88 HARMS except for test purposes. Were the A6 Intruders not cleared for Harm use before the F18?
  11. That Tan, FS 33711 is far too light for the above scheme.
  12. The paints used on the actual jet were custom mixed. The best FS matches are FS31575 (Tan) and 30140 (Brown) Can't find anyone that does 31575, but Gunze, Vallejo, Life Color, Humbrol, Testors, Tamiya and Revell all do matches for 30140. See link for reference http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?f...400+30140+33711 Hope that helps
  13. Also it was sized for the Tamiya kit as well, so not sure if it would fit the Italeri boxing.
  14. Two Bobs don't, they do a Silver Anniversary sheet but it doesn't have the Stars and Stripes scheme on it.
  15. Good news, as I'm now at the painting stage of my Hellenic RF-4E build. Will these be out before the end of the year? Scott
  16. Thanks, The kit is the 1/48 Hasegawa F-4J "Showtime 100" and converted into a "D" using the Airdocs conversion set. Together with Aires pit and cans and DMolds Intakes. The Decals are the ones from Hi Decal. A limited WIP can be seen here. http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=6854
  17. Here is a RoKAF F-4D I built in the "Cloud Grey" scheme. This scheme was unique to the a/c of the 704th Tactical Fighter Squadron/ 301st Tactical Fighter Wing of the United States AFRES based at Bergstrom AFB, Texas. When the unit transitioned onto the F16 at least one of their a/c was sold onto the RoKAF(South Korea) were it contuined to fly in this scheme.
  18. The ones on RAF stations were also just a Metal trash can painted Yellow with FOD written on it in Black block capitals, the lid would be secured to the base by means of a bungee cord bolted onto the sides to stop the lid blowing off. Normally positioned just off the flightline at both vehicle and pedestrian access points, as the whole point of them was to keep FOD off the line not on it. You also got FOD boxes which were basically metal 5.56mm ammo boxes painted Red again in the same locations and at the Exit doors of buildings adjacent to the line. HTH
  19. Do you ? I have PayPal but I don't hold a credit card, unless the rules are different in the UK Was looking at a couple of "Tooms" myself but no means of paying you except PayPal. Good luck seems you have sold a fair bit already
