  1. It can certainly be done. If printing black items, you can use clear decal paper. If printing any other color including white, you'll need to use white decal paper because inkjets (and color lasers) produce translucent colors designed to be printed on white paper. That may leave you the possibly difficult task of cutting out the marking right at the edge of the colors to avoid a white halo. Inkjet inks are water soluble, so you'll need to apply a clear coat or two before wetting them. I use Mr. Color clear gloss, but any acrylic or acrylic lacquer clear will probably do.
  2. According to the diagram at Cybermodeler, 36270 and 36118: https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/f-4/f-4_profile04.shtml
  3. Good looking build anyway. 😃
  4. Doesn't this belong in Display Case? Also, which kit? I'm assuming ProModeler?
  5. I'm not an admin unfortunately.
  6. You do know there's a dedicated sub-forum for in-progress build photos? it's called In-Progress Pics.
  7. The Eduard kit is also my F6F of choice, but I'd characterize the fit as good with a couple of trouble spots, notably the two-piece engine cowling and the main gear struts which really need to be shortened by a couple of mm.
  8. Understood. It does beg the question, what was/were the difference(s) between ship-based and land-base tires?
  9. I don't recall whether or not the Hasegawa wheels are too thin (I think the Eduard ones are), but if I were going to purchase aftermarket wheels, I'd go with Ultracast, who do them in several different treads; plus I probably wouldn't be after "land-based" wheels anyway. Ultracast link: https://www.ultracast.ca/1-48-F6F-Hellcat-s/176.htm
  10. I'd be interested in knowing what aftermarket nozzle sets exist that will work with the GWH kit. I've got a set from KA, but it doesn't appear that they'll install easily, or am I mistaken in that impression? Thanks, Pip
  11. The F-14 boarding ladder is perfect timing for me; I've ordered one and look forward to seeing it.
  12. I don't see how the answer could be anything besides Tamiya.
  13. The only thing I can find is an AT-11 resin conversion set from Lone Star designed to be used with the Battleaxe kit C-45. Dunno if it would work with the ICM kit.
  14. It was released in late 2022. It doesn't seem to be in stock yet at US outlets, but is available online from China (ebay) with deliveries estimated for June+ . There's a thread started at Britmodeller: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235115344-148-hawker-hurricane-mkiiicd-trop-by-hobbyboss-mki-released-new-boxingsvariants-in-2023-2024/
  15. If you're looking for ease of assembly, IMHO the Airfix kit (much as I love Airfix) is not the best choice. The whole interior assembly is really complicated. Although not a whole lot has been written about the Hobby Boss effort, according to Troy Smith at Britmodeller it appears to be a scale-down of the Trumpeter 1/24 kit, which is very well regarded. Although I generally resist TrumpyBoss stuff, I'm thinking this may well be the way to go.
  16. If you're at all into F-16s, IMHO you owe it to yourself to build at least one Tamiya in your lifetime.
  17. Adding black will bring it toward green, which is okay if you're after tinted zinc chromate (a la Interior Green). Yellow zinc chromate is pretty yellow. Looking at the Model Air chart, the closest thing appears to be 71.002 Medium Yellow. However, there are at least two other acrylic alternatives I found by google searching acrylic zinc chromate yellow: Mission Models MMP067 Yellow Zinc Chromate and AK 3rd Gen AK11858 Zinc Chromate Yellow. I'd go with the AK.
  18. This is a discussion/debate that has been going on for years because there isn't any really top notch F4U-4 kit in 1/48. Leaving aside the Academy F4U-4B, which is really misshapen, the two choices are the relatively recent Hobby Boss and the much older Hasegawa (ex-Mania). Rather than reinventing this particular wheel, here are some hopefully useful links to check out and make your own choice based on your own priorities: https://imodeler.com/2021/03/hobbyboss-f4u-4-corsair-1-48-a-small-build-review-of-sorts/ https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234916352-148-
  19. Thanks, both GW8345 and Quixote74!
  20. Is there a web page that shows typical F-14A ordnance loads at various time periods? I'm working on a Tamiya kit with Furball decals for VF-41 aboard USS Nimitz in 1976. Sooner or later I'll have to figure out what to hang.
  21. To my eyes it's too shiny and quite a bit lighter than what's most commonly seen.
