  1. After using stainless steel rod for the build below I would recommend against it. Too difficult to bend/shape and difficult to get the aircraft to not move around too much. I had to use liquid nails to stop two of them rolling over on the rod. Because it's too hard to bend you then rely on the stand to display a stagger of multiple aircraft, which then causes balance issues. Happy with the final result and the steel fits in with the scheme, but a fair bit misery was involved.
  2. Tom, Bit of a zen slap with your build. Many many years ago one of my first builds was a 1/200 Hasegawa 747-300 SUD in KLM livery. Being such a keen chap that I am I then drew the aircraft plus the airline's logo with my technical drawing equipment. Mind you this was 1987/88 before the wonderful onset of CAD programs on your home PC which made things a little easier. Great build, bringing back lots of great memories. Mind you I've never flown KLM but there's something about this jet and this scheme that just screams classic. Watching attentively and in awe . Good luck!! Regards,
  3. OK, the bandits are finished. Load-out is complete and I'm pretty happy with the stand. Wanted to do it in the Arctic Bandit scheme but ran out of puff. Some initial shots. Hopefully I can figure out how to get good shots with a proper background and post some more in the Display Case.
  4. Klintman, Well done on a bloody hard build. Everything you mentioned just brings back bad bad memories trying to get this thing together, even down to the nose cone being deformed by the glue and forgetting the detcord. Yes, d'oh indeed. At the end of the day a nice build and great to see what my desert pink RAF Desert Storm jet could have looked like. Can't wait for the next build. :)
  5. As they were looking a bit naked I've started to load them up. Fuel tanks, CATM and AMT pods. Starboard side is still to loaded out with an ACMI pod, an inert AIM-9 (just to fill it out). After that two of them will be getting ALQ-188 pods. This is the best part of a build when it starts looking like what you imagined it would several months beforehand. Thanks for looking.
  6. OK, it has been a while. Jets are all decaled and sealed. Canopies polished Just a few more detailes to take care of and we should be able to move this to the Display Cabinet. This is only a temporary stand just to get ideas for how to display the three of them with everything hanging off them. Next up is attaching the load out. BTW, the TwoBob decals are outstanding!
  7. Mate, you are being very modest with your skills. You have only shown the post-build stage. Having built this kit you have totally understated your skills as putting this kit together. It's not easy, particularly the forward fuselage to rear join and the wing mechanism. Groan! Your paint work and masking is brilliant and I'm very much looking forward to watching this progress. Keep at it!
  8. Been a while. Took me some time to get the cam to a stage that I thought was at least acceptable. A couple of coats of future and ready for decals. Actually quite happy with where they are at. :) Until next time
  9. Very nicely built, painted and finished. Great load-out as well. Lots of goodies hanging off this babe. Love a bit of colour on the F-16 as well!
  10. JustEd Had a quick look as to what a Pave Penny is. Do F-16 Aggressors have these fitted? Seems to be an Air to Ground capability rather than something used for air to air. BTW, does anybody make Pave Penny in 1/48? Rgds, Sean
  11. Thanks for the tip on the tanks. Not much of a change. I'll have a go.
  12. Been a while since an update so why not. First update is the finished tails with decals. Decals are TwoBobs Arctic Bandits. An absolute pleasure to apply. Then comes a complete white F-16  Masked and grey applied. And finally another mask and the black. Just need to paint the nose cone and pull it all together. Hopefully update in the near future.
  13. Sam, Nice masking and paint work. This is looking so good. Can't wait to see the next installment. Gideeyup!!! Rgds, Sean
  14. Mumbles, Nice start to the build. Which squadron will you do (kit decals??) and are you going SE Asia cam or the all grey? Rgds, Sean
  15. Brett, Freaking outstanding! Do you have the WIP photos? What AM did you use? Scratchbuild???
