  13. Hey irwin ive made many model and (mostly WWII and i never put a clear coat on them so my decals are strait on the mat or gloss paint (mostly mat)and the results are good. the main advantage of the gloss coat ive put on my p-38(first 1 with gloss coat) is that its easier to remove dust accumulations from sitting on a shelve... it also give it a nicer finish of course cheers. btw if you decide to put a gloss coat after your decals it will show!!! under the clear parts of the decals you will see a difference in the finish/color

  20. Hi guy's just a quick review for you.. im building a revell 1/48th F4-J (85-6879) blue angels ed. and whanted to warn peaple that there are much better kits out there this thing is horrible, i never really use putty on my models but i got all the training i needed on this one !!! the fuselage fit is ok. the wing juction has a mjor gap thats not too hard to fix. but after that wow lots of putty. the model is also in blue plastic and for unknown reason paint seems to slide more on this than normal grey cast. even the primer as a hard time to grip on. One good thing is that the decals seem
  21. thanks for the answer cougar i will get myself some lacquer thinners for my brushes. im not sure what you mean by ""don't stand the brush upright "" does that mean stick down brisel up or the opposite but i let mine dry on their side i.e in my toolbox compartment. I'm still wondering how much i should thin my humbrol paint (using mineral spirits ) to get a good result. the only time i thinned my paint i noticed that it didn't dry streak free (can see paint brush stokes) i normally don't get this when my paint is pure any tips would be good cheers Neo
  22. I use grey primer this time (last time no primer was a night mare) how much do you recommend thinning(for paint brushing) the yellow to make it look good ??? i didnt thin it since i tought :" its not covering right so if i thin it its gona be worse!!" guess i was wrong btw i normally thin with white spirits any of you know whats the best solvent to clean this paint out of brushes (white spirits is useless, and hardware store paint thinner is ok but still dosent get it all out) im wondering if lacker thinner would do the job cheers Neo
  23. Hi guys ive been using humbrol for quite a while and never had much problems the only problems ive had was -> #69 A0761 50723928(Canada) yellow dosent cover verry well even on primer like ned 3 to 6 coats to get a good finish (paintbrushing) -> the second is wrong pigment on #15 A0165 50723508(Canada) and my older one bar code not readable(bought in the same time as the yellow above if that helps) the newer 1 is actually the write color. i figure this out when i ran out of the first(no bar code) on the last coat of my f4-j blue angels and guess what the new pot i had in reserve IS N
