Always get a kick out of watching "old people" complain. But more seriously, I've noticed that my best experiences with people - be it in retail or social or random encounters - are with those in two distinct age brackets: those over 60 or so, and the 16-35 group. I'm not a sociologist so I couldn't begin to analyse why, but it would be interesting to find out why it seems so much easier to have respectful and meaningful connections of any sort with these age groups than the one in between. (For the record I am 39).

Iunno. The internet/social media specifically has helped me get over my innate anti-social behaviour. I may be just an exceptional case, but... pre-internet, my social interactions were limited to the essential, or when one of my few friends literally dragged me out. Beyond that, I don't think it'll make any difference. If it didn't actually wear camo and take part in the Vietnam War like that, then it's a "what if" for the purposes of the GB. To phrase it differently, for a subject to be valid for this GB, it has to actually have taken part in the Vietnam War (including the French Indochina War) in the scheme being modelled.
