Greetings fellas!
It's approaching St. Patrick's day, so being the Piper that I am, I went through all my Bagpipe stuff over the weekend, and discovered that I'm lacking in certain things; so I need to sell off as much of the stash as necessary. I'd like to keep this to within the USofA and Canada for quality control purposes. Sorry, but I can't take trades seeing as it's difficult to use it as money with my Bagpipe supplier......maybe when models become currency that could work...but until that day I'll have to use dollars
This will be an initial batch; more will be added as necessary. Enjoy! Any questions, feel free to ask! Everything 1/48 scale except where noted. I prefer Paypal! Thanks in Advance!
Justin
Note - if you send me a PM, please leave a response on the thread to let folks know what you've asked about.
Another note- seems I didn't specify shipping on here - Prices do not include shipping, please PM me with your zip for a shipping quote! Sorry for any confusion (and thanks to those who gathered that already and have been doing it all the long!)

Revell F/A-18E Super Hornet - $15
Revell HH-53C "Viet Nam Rescue' - $30 PENDING

Impressive looking pocket sized 'Cat, Sir!
Most impressive!

Where do they have that F-100 you posted preserved? It doesn't look like Europe.
Pete,
Not a problem, figured you'd like to see the real deal :)
You're right, that's definitely not Europe - it's Holloman AFB, New Mexico - current home of the 49th Fighter Wing.
I'll actually be doing the F-100 in those same colors (except in 1/48) probably sometime over the next few months for a 49th FW Diorama.
Great job on the finished product! Looks great!
Cheers,
Justin

Are you freehand scribing? Some of the line depths look uneven. This metallic gray plastic can be terrible to work with.
Yeppers - hence the reason there's green putty all over it - the bottow portion of the wing/lower fuselage will get the same treatment tonight. And you are 100% correct - the metallic gray is a pain to use. I'm glad no one else utilizes it (that I know of anyway). It's the same crap that my F-80 is molded with, and thats like trying build models using concrete.
What will be most "fun", is this tail section that clearly has alignment issues from the mold. I percieve a lot of sanding and putty work when it comes time to connect the two.
-
Here's a pic of how it looks now. Taking pics of NMF is tricky, so for the final pics I will have to practice a bit more, maybe chance the background color too.

Pete,
Superb looking Super Sabre! I am impressed! :P Looks like the real thing (aside from the canopy issue you noticed - good luck on taking care of that!)!

Keep up the good work! :D

UPDATE FOR 25 FEB 2010
OK! So it's been a couple days, and as promised, I have pictures!
I've only been working on scribing and riveting, and that has certainly kept me busy. I've done most, if not all of it freehand. Since this is my first time doing a full on rescribing job, removing the raised panel lines and such, if anyone has any tips or advice they're more than welcomed to share it!
So here's the tools I've been working with!
Riveter and Scriber

And the progress as of today -

So - I started out scribing and puttying the upper fuselage, here's how things progressed -

And shots of the nose -

Had to putty a lot cause either I made the cut too deep - or my hand slipped and went a direction I hadn't intended.
Here's some views of the the scribing job on the lower fuselage and the lower part of the nose.
Lower Fuselage -

And the Lower part of the nose (which has, by far, been the easiest to scribe) -

If you look closely, you can tell where I've used the riveter on the lower nose section. The others you can't tell so much, but this one shows up pretty well.
It's difficult using that riveter on this super hard plastic :D
And thats pretty much it for today - like I said, advice and comments are welcomed. During some dry fitting of the lower wing to the upper wing today, I noticed that the tail section (which I'll start scribing tomorrow) doesn't quite fit right against the Lower fuselage/wing. It's off by just enough - so I may wind up doing quite a bit of puttying and sanding there. That'll certainly be interesting when we get to that point. Definitley don't want a funky looking underside!
I did notice something interesting that has nothing to do with the build per say, and that is that the lower wing, on the inside, is stamped Monogram. Just thought was interesting since it's a RoG kit. (I'm guessing it's probably because it's still part of the original mold - thats' just my thought though)
Well, Goodnight! and stay tuned! :P

I am sorry everyone. The root of my problem was that I said that I wanted to buy more items than I had the money for at the moment.
Skyraider Maniac, you will have your money by tomorrow at noon,
Greenghost, your mug should be there by Monday or Tuesday... that will be 10 days since I have mailed it,
CF104, I have sent you a PM,
Flyingfortress I have dispatched a PM to you as well.
I am sorry for my lack of maturity in dealing with you all...
I WILL be smarter with my deals in the future, I have been irresponsible and I will not start anymore deals until I have all of you paid off in full.
Remington
Remington,
PM sent. I apologize for jumping the gun like that. B)
Respectfully,
Justin

All,
I have had deals with all of you except you, CF-104. I , too, have a current deal going with Remington. He has already made two partial payments and has been on time with each payment, when he said that he was going to pay. He has been nothing but golden in my book since I have been dealing with him. Here's to (raising my glass) everything working out to the best for each and every one of you guys! Cheers!
Best Regards,
Ken Bailey
(SonyKen)
Ken,
Thanks fo the heads up!

He and I had a deal pending as well when he PM'd saying a sudden bill came up and he needed to back out. That was fine until I saw him the NEXT day replying to a sale that was MORE then what I had. Squirlly to say the least.
I've noticed that too....
-
Thank you Sir! and it was a pleasure dealing with you as well!

Guys, don't bother. It is pointless to present fact to someone that has made their "point", and they won't change their opinion. As always, i will use this example:

You're making it seems like I'm comparing apples to cherries...
a more accurate comparison would be:

Mareku,
fantastic job so far! I look forward to seeing how your build progresses!

:D, Maybe it's actually a drawing of a Yak-44, the proposed Russian equivalent of the E-2. Notice it had a multi blade contra prop years before the E-2s were fitted with their 8 blader. If Russia's plans to build more carriers come to fruition these birds might eventually go into production (perhaps). A cheap knock off? These days I doubt that, just as I doubt the Tu-4 would have been a cheap B-29 knock off in its day, at least for the Soviets. A copy, well, mostly yes, but far from cheap in Soviet monetary terms of the day.
,Ross.
Yeah but it's a model airplane while the Hummers have been serving since the late 60s ...
Gregg
A knock off is a knock off - and, as Gregg so eloquently puts it, its a model at that. Least the could do is make up their own seperate design instead of making a design model that is so obviously a look-a-like to the E-2. Are they fresh out of creativity?
Just saying......
Justin

Great for those of us History majors who can't stand math! Thats incredible!

-
I just wonder, what Hawkeys do on Kuznetsov's deck?
Very good observation - maybe a cheap knock off? like their el cheapo version of the B-29.....
-
Evening update - got some rescribing done on the upper fuselage/upper wing areas, getting rid of the raised panel lines - I'll post pics Wendesday or Thursday.

Cool paint job!
It's too bad we don't get to see anymore battleships in this era. Oh well they still look good in 1:350 scale.
Nice work there friend!!

Jack
Thanks Jack! Yeah, I miss seeing those beautiful ships of the line! I've always said that if the Navy still had the Battleships, I'd have gone Navy rather than Army - but they didn't, so I went Infantry!
As for the 1/350 scale - I totally despised the Revell USS NC (BB-55) build I did (you can see it in the pictures in the window) - it was far too easy in that small of a scale (I can't remember exactly how small it is...1/700 maybe?). So in disgust with the complete lame-ness of that last build (the very day I finished, i stared at it for about 5 min pondering the waste and then I -->), I headed to hobby lobby and picked up this bad boy, and it made my day! They certainly do look amazing in 1/350 scale! I'll never do anything smaller than that again. One of these days, I'll get around to doing the Showboat of my native NC!
WHOA!!!!!!..man that thing is huuuuuge!!!, Very nice work
your patience must be nigh on limitless , and you can have the one with my name on it...I'll stick to aircraftOutstanding looking WWII era Mighty Mo. Love it. I love ships, but too many "fiddley bits" for me. I'd go completely insane trying to build one...if I wasn't already half-there. :DThanks guys! It did have a lot of parts to it - though the biggest pain were the little 40mm and .50 positions throughout the ship. Though if you want a really satisfying build - thats certainly the way to go (Though I still love my aircraft!)
Your 'Mighty Mo' looks fantastic ...I love the scheme you went with, most of the time we see the standard battleship grey look ...
Gregg
I have never seen the Missouri in that scheme before. I like it.Thanks Greg and A.S.! I thought the plain old grey just looked way too.....boring... so I wanted something a little spicy to mix it up a bit; that fit the bill!
I have her sister ship, New Jersey, which I'll do; but since its the updated modernized version; sadly it will have to be grey...
on another note - I'm in the midst of trying to aquire another Missouri, except this time I'll be adding photo-etch! Same paint job as this one -except some weathering added in as well.
Thanks again! :)

Thanks for all the comments fella's! I appreciate it!

Don't forget to sand off the double dent next to the cockpit, it is not present on the real thing. The word I have heard is that someone dropped a tool in the mold at the factory, and the double bump was the result
Wow; as soon as I read this I went and looked (though, in hindsite I could have just scrolled up and seen them clear as day...), dang! I hadn't noticed that before

For being a big proponent for situational awareness...that sure got me! lol.
I'll take care of that when I get back to work on it; thanks for the heads up Ric!

I used to have a cat, an all white Turkish Van. He had a basket in the corner of the workshop and would quite happily watch me build. Didn't matter what power tools I was using, whether the lathe was squeeling etc. I only sent him back in the house when I was spraying.
He loved to watch my model railroad when that was set up too.
That sounds like a pretty well tempered cat!
Reminds me of my wife's cat in regard to laser pointers - apparently they're pretty to look at, but she doesn't care enough to play with it. My old German Shepard, on the other hand, thought it was the greatest thing since Frisbees (I'd say sliced bread, but I don't think that necessarily applies to dogs - though I have found out they like fried tortillias)
-
They're pretty sturdy. If you want to make sure, Scale Aircraft Conversions have a metal landing gear set for the 1/48 Hustler.
RYAN.
P.S.- take a look at Lone Star Models update and detail sets for it, too. Highly reccomended!
Ryan,
Thanks for the heads up! Those certainly look great. Anyone reading this have either the metal landing gear or the 3 stage pit they would be willing to part with? PM me if you do!
Thanks!
Justin

1/48 RoG B-58 Hustler
in In-Progress Pics
Posted
Thats with their older kits - the newer ones don't have that problem from what I've experienced. Just the old Monogram/Revell kits from the 70's and 80's using that thick, silvery/greyish, crappy plastic. This kit is the same; but it makes me wonder a bit because this one in particular, though it's RoG, still has the monogram/made in the USA stamp on the inside of the bottom wing; plus the copyright + mg on one of the stabilizers of the lower wing. So I'm a bit confused - anyone know if the Revell USA re-pops are the same way or not? I'd be curious to find out.
Anyway, as far as an update is concerned; no pics to upload tonight, and maybe not till Thursday - this week is a bit busy so I may not have as much time to work on it. As of Saturday - the tail section is about finished - it's finished with the rescribing, and has a base coat. The Cockpit/Pilot's seat has recieved some much needed paint - though I don't know how detailed the actual cockpit will get since it won't be seen from the outside since I'm doing closed cockpit - the seat on the other hand will get a few more painted details before it will be done. The Fuselage/upper wing/lower wing are all finished with the rescribing, they just need their basecoats. I'm still pondering on the "gear up/gear down" decision; not quite made up my mind, though I ought to do it sooner than later cause that will determine the next course of action with this fella. If gear is down, it'll take longer assembling the major pieces; if I just do closed bays - then I can skip a big portion of that. I have a little bit of time to think on it, so I'll dwell on that a little more before I make a decision.
Anyway, that's it for now.
Till next time
