  1. Well, finally got all my business trips and vacations finished so time to get at it. I've decided to step out of my normal box (read non-Luftwaffe) and do the Azur 1/32 H-75 Hawk. I'll be doing an aircraft from The Battle of France. Markings are TBD but I ordered a sheet of decals from Dave Klaus with some interesting markings. I'll be starting as soon as the kit shows up from Sprue Brothers.
  2. Maybe it's just me, but as a WW2 builder I'm a little put off by this statement. "Yes, you can participate but we really prefer post-war aircraft", really doesn't inspire me to join the GB.
  3. That one's bogus for sure but I'll forwarding you a link soon where you can buy 1/32 Tamiya Mustangs and have them delivered directly to my house.
  4. Agree with Patrick. I have no problem building OOB, but I'll continue to buy aftermarket that looks significantly better or is big time saver. I'll never just buy something for the sake of having it but there are areas where I feel it's justified.

I think the consensus now is that there was never a G-10/AS, what was believed to be the G-10/AS was an Erla built G-10. Chuck, I believe that most experts now believe that most G-10's were new production rather than recycled airframes. Post war evidence shows WNF cranking out new airframes rather than recycling G-6's and G-14's. This was done, but not on a large as scale as previously believed. This drawing shows the Type 110 Cowl used on Erla machines and is lacking the cheek bulges due to different routing of the oil return lines. The other salient characteristics of the Erla G-10 wo

  7. The HS style discussion boards are a vast minority compared to the newer style used here and at LSP, etc. The antiquated "push responses to the right" makes it nearly impossible to follow a lengthy discussion and hot topics get pushed to the back regardless. HS has some great content but the format just blows.
  8. The G-14 was an evolution of the G-6, so the Revell G-10 is not a good starting point. You can do the AS series 109's from it though with some minor mods though. For the G-6 and G-14 you also have Hasegawa. Neither Academy or Hasegawa are perfect but I would go with the Academy because it's cheaper and I think a little more accurate than Hasegawa. There is some aftermarket, but none that really pull either kit into Finemolds territory.
  9. Unfortunately, no, I pretty much do 1/32 only these days. My previous website host went out of business and when I re-did my site I didn't include any of my 1/72 stuff.
  10. I agree with Chuck here, although the Revell G-10 has some nice features but it just doesn't cut the proverbial mustard. The spinner, propeller blades and canopy are all awful. The Loon Models correction set does help but by the time you purchase that you're paying what you would for a Finemolds kit. So if you want a decent G-10 in 1/72 my advice would to pay the extra money for the Finemolds, it's the really the only serious option.
  11. Yeah, I'd say that the RLM 78 thought to be on the rudder is probably due to a shadow and/or the angle of the camera. I think the rest of the article is pretty much spot on though, LIF is usually pretty good on the research side of things.
  12. Very interesting, I've never completed a resin kit before.
  13. I think you're good to go, from Wikipedia: The only U.S. Navy units to operate the F11C-2 were the Navy's famous "High Hat Squadron", VF-1B, aboard the carrier Saratoga, and VB-6 briefly assigned to Enterprise. In March 1934, when the aircraft were redesignated BFC-2, the "High Hat Squadron" squadron was renumbered VB-2B, and then VB-3B, and retained its BFC-2s until February 1938. VB-6 never actually embarked on Enterprise with the BFC bombers.
  14. A subject of much debate. "Luftwaffe im Focus" did an article on this aircraft a few years ago, their conclusion was that the snake was sand colored. I'm inclined to agree with them but not everyone does. I don't think you'll ever get a definite, just some educated guesses.
