  1. Hi Mstor, thanks for commenting on this one. There is a correction set done for this, on your side of the pond, by Phase Hanger Resin. I have since bought a few sets for future builds but didn’t have them when I started this. To be honest it’s a fairly easy modification to make with a good file and a bit of care. Of course, it’s hopefully a whole lot easier with the correction set. Thanks Pete
  2. The latest off the bench is this kit from Airfix, a real mixed bag of a kit that takes a lot of work to get something out of. It's a kit that's not often seen built on ARC so I thought that I'd post it on here, apologies if you've seen it elsewhere too. The basic kit had the following modifications: Re-scribed lots of missing panel lines and filled as many that shouldn't have been there. Re-shaped the bottom leading edge of the vertical tail, as it starts too far forward and has the wrong curve. Re-profiled the joint between the horizontal tails and the fuselage. Ai
  3. Hi Underdog, This one's a real trip down memory lane. I can't believe how long ago this build was. I couldn't find the original photo's so took some more, a little bit of dust after 9 years but surprisingly not too bad. Dragging this one out of the cabinet has made me want to build another Alconbury RF-4C now. Pete
  4. Depends on whether you're happy to get them outside of the U.S. You can get them here: - http://www.misterkit.com/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=314&products_id=42486&PHPSESSID=gq29ttu5ugj3j9nhtm9djrigt2 I've used Misterkit quite a few times and never had a problem. Pete
  5. Syhart are very easy to deal with and have always been reliable for me. Pete
  6. For me it would have to be: - Led Zep Pink Floyd Genesis (Gabriel fronted) Must drag those albums onto my iPod and do some (loud) reminiscing Pete
  7. Gonzalo, The OA-4M was on the Furball Aero-Design Low-Viz Devil Dogs sheet. Out of stock at Furball but Hannants, as well as others I'm sure, still have them. Pete
  8. You also need to do some modification to the main gear struts, as the CF-188A has an 'upside down' shock absorber fitted. I'm not sure if the Hobbyboss kit has these but the Hasegawa one does, so someone may have some spares. Will be interesting to see your progress as I have a few of these kits to modify into CF's too. Pete
  9. The kit is in the pile looking at me and my finger is on the button waiting to order. Really like the look of the second and third schemes. Pete
  10. Great build Dan and even better save on the decals. Got to say that you Canadians sure know how to paint a plane when it comes to special schemes, those 2 are incredible. Pete
  11. It's an option that I took when I built an RF-4C a few years ago. You will have to modify the back seater's side panels a bit as the Aires 'B' set has a padded panel where the refueling probe is and this needs changing as well as a different left hand side. Not so bad to do though. You will also need to change the main panel by removing the bottom section and adding a control stick. It's probably not perfect but it's a whole lot better than the kit one. Hope you don't mind me posting pictures of my attempt, they may help: - I think that it passed the test when all done, I was pleased t
  12. That's a real shame about the canopy but don't let it spoil a great looking build so far. I built a 1/48th scale model of this jet for a group build on another forum and know how much fun it is to mask up the digital baggage pod but doesn't it look good once you've got it done. I'm not sure that I would have been brave enough to chop a canopy in half either, I went for the easier Tamiya Smoke option which doesn't look as good as yours close up but works ok in the smaller scale. Hopefully the new canopy part will arrive soon and this jet can cross the finish line. I will be checking in and look
  13. This is a great looking set of decals and makes me tempted to get another Tamiya Ford and invest in a set. As for Cutting Edge, they're no longer around but the kit is, so it's good that Furball have made the effort with this sheet. Now we can all contemplate building this kit again with non kit decals. Thumbs up from me. Pete
  14. I had an Academy F-16C 'Flying Razorbacks' kit to hand last night and tried the Aires cockpit against it. It looks like it would fit without any problems. I also compared the Hasegawa fuselage against the Academy one and, as plasticweapons says' they look identical. It's made me think that I might build this kit now instead of it languishing in the pile. Great question and I've learnt something else new today. Pete
  15. Now that is a thing of beauty, great build of a great plane and I like the scheme you've chosen. RAF Spitfires were never really eye catching schemes but that one's close. Nice one Pete
