  1. Nice Rhino Phantom! You don't see the Air Force Phantoms in grey over white much. Really eye catching.
  2. This is the 1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider that I plan to build as Richard Drury's "Midnight Cowboy" that he flew out of NKP. It will be loaded out with a RESCAP load using kit CBU-25's, LAU-3's, and a 300 gallon centerline tank. I'll also be using the kit SUU-11 minigun under the left stub pylon. The rest of the ordinance will be LAU-59's from True Details, M-47A-4's from AMS Resin, and a 150 gallon wing tank under the right stub also by AMS Resin. Decals come from Cutting Edge. I'll also be using a replacement Yankee seat from True Details.
  3. This is the 1/48 HobbyCraft "Viet Nam" F8F-1B Bearcat that I plan to build up as a VNAF F8F-1B based on a photo my dad took at an airshow back in '66 or '67. He was stationed at Bien Hoa but I think the airshow was at Tan Son Nhut. Not entirely sure. Anyway, always wanted to do up a VNAF Bearcat and this is the perfect time. I'll be using a resin cockpit from Aires as well as a resin engine from Quickboost. I had a corrected cowling from Obscureco but it's for the F8F-2 and I don't want to file off the underside just to make it work for the -1B.
  4. I have a spare set of markings for "JB" 425, an F-105G with the 17th WWS flown by Capt's Jim Boyd and Kim Pepperell. It's called "NAADA" and has the sharks mouth along with 4 SAM markings on the port side under the windshield. It comes from the Superscale 48-323 sheet. There isn't any data markings or stencils but the basic markings are yours if you want something a little different. The story in the decal sheet says this plane flew the last Wild Weasel mission of the war. Don
  5. Whoa! Awesome build. And I've barely started on mine. Haven't even created a thread yet for my build. I am so not worthy. :bandhead2:/>
  6. Hey T, let me see what I have in the decal stash. I may have some leftovers from some previous builds. Don BTW - Go Big Red!
  7. Cool Build Darren. That looks super sharp in those colors. :thumbsup:/>
  8. Wow! That is an amazing build for being your first. Well done sir! :thumbsup:/>
  9. I'll be starting this GB off with Tamiya's offering of the A-1J Skyraider. I'm adding a True Details resin ejection seat, a resin 150 gallon Aero 1C tank for the right stub pylon using the new AMS Resin offering as well as AMS M-47 white phosphorous bombs that Harold did up. This will be done up as a SAR Sandy in the markings of then Capt Richard Drury's Midnight Cowboy. I'm using the decals are from Cutting Edge 48096. Don
  10. What markings are you planning on doing these up in? I have one that I'd like to do up as a Raven FAC from Laos. Can't wait to follow along and get some pointers from the master. I love all your VNAF Skyraiders.
  11. I think a model of the Connie would be perfect. Gotta have a Navy entry for this GB! Down to a matter of hours in North America.... :woot.gif:/>/>
  12. Love those SP 113 tracks ikar! I'm all for seeing a USAF 113 if you got one. I have a M-41 that I could do up as an ARVN piece but I think it's too far along in the build to be allowed in this GB.
  13. Great idea for this GB Bob. Someone needs to do an M-113 APC to go along with your Patton. Can't wait to follow along. Any ideas what markings you are planning to use?
  14. Did you hear that? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressing me?
  15. Keep it up and I'll take you to the Home!
  16. Looking for anyone that might have a spare "TC" tail code with the tan outline found in the AeroMaster Air War in Vietnam Skyraider sheets. The markings in question would be for either the "Orient Express" A-1E, "Cool Fool" A-1H, or "Stump Jumper" A-1H. If have and don't plan on using I'll gladly purchase or trade for them? Just need the tail codes.

    Minicraft T-34

Whoa! Those are so cool. Never thought I'd see any kind of sharks mouth on the ole T-34. Thanks for sharing.
  18. So I'm planning on doing the Tamiya Skyraider in 1/48 as Capt Richard Drury's "Midnight Cowboy" for this group build. I have the Cutting Decals for this plane but the outline for the TC tail code seems a bit yellow in color. Does anyone have a spare TC with the tan outline from any of the Aeromaster 1/48 Air War in Vietnam - Skyrader sheets? They would be for either the "Orient Express" A-1E, "Cool Fool" A-1H, or "Stump Jumper" A-1H. If have and don't plan on using I'll gladly purchase or trade for them?

    Minicraft T-34

Anyone heard any scuttlebutt on this kits release date? I know it's still listed in on Minicraft's website as a coming attraction but no release date is listed. Same same with their 1/144 KC-135A. Zip nada nothing!
  20. Not sure who originally issued this kit. Mine is a bagged one that I believe was released my Lindberg. It's buried away so I did a Google search and found Monogram had also released it. It was a clearance deal at Hobby Lobby and when I started to dry fit the parts, I tossed it back in the bag. Fit problems is an understatement! Only 9 more days!
  21. Paragon made an update set that included full cockpit, updated wing to get the proper boom separation as well as horizontal tail and new rudders. Lots of other bits are included but to find one is problematical as well as costly.
  22. Cool beans! Looks like I'm in with this one as well. I really needed this GB to get off my butt and get something finished. :thumbsup:/>
  23. It seems to fit right in but the "TFM" memorial wasn't done until 1984, two years after the wall was completed. Heck, between the Skyraider and Bird Dog I'm planning on doing, I may not even get around to this one. Would be nice to have in the hip pocket though. Need to finish and give to my wife's uncle who was a stern gunner on PBR's during the war.
  24. So last night I remembered that stashed away in my Cave of Doom is the old Monogram "Three Fighting Men" Vietnam Memorial Statue kit. I know this kind of out of the theater of battle and it was quite some time after the war ended but would this in some way fit in with the GB theme?
