  1. So now that Paul Fisher has released his update set to this particular kit and the KC-135A kit is right around the corner, any hint that Fundekals or Caracals might be putting the finishing touches on a 1/144 KC-135A sheet? Or more importantly, a data sheet that has walkway stripes, emergency exit outlines and any other data (US Air Force and USAF) and or refueling receptacles? Most everything out there is for the later 135's with black low vis data. Need high vis SAC stuff! Don
  2. With radials, it hard not to display them. The front of the cowling is right there for all to see vs an inline that is all buttoned up. I used to hate radials but then figured out how to paint them now I love the darn things. That's why I don't like displaying the Skyraider with the front cowling flaps shut. I'll post pic's of the Engines & Things R-3350 when it arrives. I want to switch out the props on one of my Tamiya kits with Harolds blades to see how they compare. I'll try and post pics of this as well.
  3. Jorge, I measured the Monogram tanks and they are substantially shorter that the Aero 1C tanks. The Aero 1C is 179.36 inches in length. I forget what I measured the Monogram tanks at but they where considerably shorter. To include the diameter. The Aero 1C is 21.5" and the Monogram was under 19". At lease according to my Murphy's Rule in 1/48. I was actually using these tanks as 1C's on my Skyraider builds but they just look way too small. More so with only two fins at the rear of the tank. As for the Skynight tanks, I don't know anything about them so can't really comment. From H
  4. Hey John, I'm reading the book "Firefly: A Skyraider's Story About Americas Secret War Over Laos". In it the author mentions flying in the A-1E which had dual controls while the later A-1G only had controls on the left. This is the only reference I've ever heard regarding E vs. G and dual vs single controls. I had always assumed that AF Fat Faces had controls on both sides. As for the overall color, there is a pic on the web and in several of the books I have showing "Carolyns Folly" flying in formation with an HH-3 Jolly Green. It's painted in overall ADC Grey. 5. That is outstanding Harold. You'll now be the only guy making 150 gallon Aero tanks.
  6. Hopefully! Not sure if you saw where Harold is working on the 150 gallon wing tanks for the AF SAR birds. Oh yah, and other planes like early A-4's and other Douglas products. :thumbsup:/>
  7. Harold, you are a saint! Yours will be the only one on the market. Two Mikes and Red Roo have both discontinued theirs. I'm not sure most modelers are aware that the 150 gallon Aero 1C was the tank the Air Force Sandy's carried under their right stub pylon on SAR missions when they weren't carrying SUU-11 miniguns under both stubs. Not the 300 Gallon Aero 1D that comes with the Tamiya kit and everyone hangs under the right wing. So looking forward to seeing the finished deal.
  8. Are you looking to do it Air Force, Navy, or Marines? If you want the 7 shot rocket pods, do you need the nose cones or just the pod faces with rockets showing? Don
  9. Heya Harold. Props arrived in the mail as well as the T-Bird main wheel wells. Thanks so much for doing these up. Don
  10. Those are the ticket for sure. Trying to see if the sell the Humvee by itself rather than having to buy another F-117.
  11. Otto. The Engines and Things stuff I have are all resin. I have a couple of their motors for the DHC Beaver and Otter. While not as good as Vector (or as expensive) they are way better than what comes in the kits. I may give one a try and let you know what it looks like. Don
  12. That would be truly fantastic of you. Are any of these weapons the StG 44? In 1/48 it's super easy to turn into AK-47's. Let me what you want for these. I'll PM you with my snail mail addy. Don
  13. Phantasic Phantom sir! I've been resisting buying this kit because of all the Hasegawa kits in the stash but this may just push me over the edge and grab one. Also, your weathering is tastefully done, not heavy handed as so many others tend to do.
  14. Have you ever seen the Engines & Things Curtiss Wright R-3350 Engine, Part #48001? According to their catalog is made just for the Skyraider. Price is $11 based on their 2013 catalog (not counting postage).
  15. Tinker is the home of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center and performs programmed depot level maintenance to the entire B-1 fleet as well as a host of other USAF and USN types. Operational B-1s are not only at Dyess but also at Ellsworth in SD. There are others at Nellis and Edwards in test and training capacities. Thought you might want to know. :salute:/>/> Now back to your regularly scheduled post about Nats.
  16. No worries Jorge. Those were the same photos I looked at to determine that the tanks in the kit were correct and not Aero 1C. Thanks for you help. Cheers.
  17. Cool. I'll check into them. I think I'm still going to see what I can do with the Matchbox engine. Probably just a waste of time but at least they are already in my parts box.
  18. Great news Otto. I'll get with Obscureco and see how things are progressing. What is your recommendation regarding a replacement R-3350? The Monogram engine is very shallow and the Tamiya engine isn't much better. I have a couple of the Matchbox 3350's and thought about trying to make those work.
  19. Jorge. Just looked this up and the tanks in the kit look good for a Cougar but I'm pretty sure they aren't Aero 1C tanks. I'm thinking if you were to cut them down they'd still be too large in circumference. Don
  20. No worries. Your secret is safe with me and the world wide web! LOL :P/>
  21. Is it Tinker AFB and the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center? Or Edwards AFB in California? What we're poking fun at is there is no Edmond or Edmonds AFB. Just some friendly ribbing. :thumbsup:/>
  22. Just got word from Red Roo that they have dropped the 150 gallon Aero drop tanks. At least I was able to get a set off ebay.
