  1. A little while back, I offered to give Sean a hand in his quest to build models for the Veterans of his "The Veterans Project" - project. While I've not met, and really know next to nothing about the vet who will receive this, it was an honor to build it for him and I hope he will cherish it deeply. Good 'ol 1/35 Tamiya Sherman, OOB
  2. Pretty sure I've got a set. Will check later and pm you
  3. Patrick, I just caught this build. I'm curious, what were you using for thinner on the wash that ate through your Future? I suspect it was a rather "hot" version of Mineral Spirits. It helps to have one that is real tame, I use Mona Lisa brand, and it is very gentle. Found at most art supply places. There are others of course, bu that's what I use and it doesn't attack Future like that. Good lookin' build BTW.
  4. A bit of a blast from the past here, but THANKS for that tip!! I always try and do it free hand, never thinking of using something like a ruler as a guide. Often I get them "straight enough", but I can see achieving perfection when using your tip. THANKS, storing that one in my memory! Well, maybe I better write it down.
  5. Am I the only one NOT building a Mustang?! Great looking work there Lou! I'll let you guys do all the ground work and mistake makin, then when I build mine it'll be easy Oh and that IP looks amazing!

  7. Wow, that's gonna be a huge model! Looking forward to watching this one come together.
  8. Your link: link in your signature works though
  9. No, Ebay put a stop to that a few months ago. Now you pay a percentage on everything, including shipping costs. Probably for exactly the reasons you and Rick stated.
  10. Oh, this is gonna be good, slow (6 day work week), but GOOD!
  11. Hey that's AWESOME! Get him signed up here on ARC if he's got the access! Congrats on furthering our hobby!
  12. uh-huh, see, what comes around does go around! Wasn't me, but I've seen more than a few posts of people telling a similar story with you being the sender Holmes
  13. Well there's that, but starting and finishing a 1/48 model in a couple days sure don't hurt either!
  14. For the sake of entertainment, that's just STUPID! That thing was so close to stalling out and becoming one with the ground. Certainly not something I'd like to experience on my next airline travel.
  15. Wow! That looks awesome regardless of scale, but the fact that it is 1/72makes it that much better!
  16. I know, but it was the only one I had with the new light setup that was comparable (somewhat) to what Chris is running. I've don't really have an issue with my FOD. The highest Fstop my camera will do is either 9.5. The higher Fstops must be a newer and/or more expensive camera thing. I'll have to settle with 8-9.5 for now.
  17. Jeff (and Chris), I shoot with an older Minolta DiMage 7, using F8, ISO100, and usually shutter speed of around 1/90 and manual set my WB every time I turn on the camera. I've heard of some guys using shutter speed of 1-2 seconds, but whenever I try to go that high, all I get is a white screen. If I'm getting good pics with the current setup, I assume there's no need for the longer exposure right? Also, I use a Tripod, a remote shutter button, and 2-3 200watt equiv. CFL daylight bulbs. I almost always run my photos through GIMP (Photoshop equivalent) to adjust levels and crop. The bulbs a
  18. Well, that certainly wouldn't be good. Another idea would be to contact an automotive paint dealer or a reputable paint manufacturer for suggestions. Also museums that take care of their aircraft parked outside might have ideas as well.
  19. Just a WAG, but how about Simple Green? Clifford Bossie might know, I know he's active 1:1 restorations/painting.
  20. WTG Sean! My Sherman is nearly ready for delivery!

    mars

From picture 7: If the Grand Canyon was carved by water, what made this one? The Valles Marineris rift system on Mars is 10 times longer, five times deeper and 20 times wider than the Grand Canyon.
