  1. LOL Thanks, yes, we were definitely a bit different. My siblings and I have often talked of writing a book about our beloved father entitled "My Father Tried to Kill Me," because seems like every wonderful fatherly outing we had also resulted in a semi-major injury for one of us, despite the good intentions....
  2. Man, I know we've got pics of her, but haven't found them yet....still looking....
  3. Holy mackerel, no! It was mom's car primarily, and I can't imagine her driving a hemi, though I'd LOVE to see it!
  4. Bingo! Yep, that was my hometown for many years, and the "GE parking lot" in the obit was the General Electric plant in Lynn MA where dad worked, in jet engine design. 😎
  5. For your amusement. Back in '77, my folks' early 60's Plymouth Savoy totally died. I was 6 but I remember it well. What I didn't know at the time was my folks typed up an obituary for the car (without publishing) to amuse themselves. They even listed our other car ('70 Cutlass) as one of the survivors. Enjoy!😁😎
  6. Another option I just found. Try here (link below) and scroll 2/3 to 3/4 of the way down. It's the one right after Target red. http://www.scalefinishes.com/Racing.html
  7. Cautiously optimistic. I had HIGH hopes when RV released theirs and was bitterly, bitterly disappointed. Really hopeful for other versions as well, for this, the fastest single-engined aircraft in the world....
  8. I have an old habit of sometimes holding a paintbrush in my mouth as I adjust something-or-other, including opening a bottle of paint or thinner. Nothing like using a brush, then as you're about to open the thinner to clean it, you absentmindedly put the wrong end of the brush in your mouth. YUCK!! 🤢
  9. On this plane the white camo was worn, sometimes showing traces of the underlying camouflage.
  10. First of a trio I just finished. -HobbyBoss base kit, with fuselage completely hollowed out (see my MiG-1 thread on how I do this; takes too long but is worth it) -RPM kit supplies the tires, cockpit floor, seat pan, modified armored seat back with HobbyBoss headrest, Cockpit sidewall control boxes -Rexx metal exhausts -Modell-Hobby PE Instrument panel -scratchbuilt cockpit framing & details, gunsight, radio shelf & gear, tailwheel mount -prop hub rebuilt & reshaped -flaps scribed -lights made from CA glue or clear plastic
  11. Added a grass base, with title placards in both English/western and Russian/Cyrillic:
  12. They have some resin aftermarket I've been looking for, so they say...but I can't find a thing about them. Prices are posted in CA $, assuming Canada?
  13. Thank you! And great to know....when I was desperately trying to find info on the unit, the best I got was "Looks like some kind of Holmes" from the folks at the auto modeling site I go to for such things. Still with that knowledge I found almost nothing useable online, which is why I went the route of taking screen shots and making prints of literally dozens of views from the actual TV show. Total desperation. Really appreciate the history, that makes total sense. Thanks again!
  14. Microscale's "Micro Mask". Definitely need some alternative....
  15. Yep, very sad to hear, hope all affected are back on their feet. So, what's the next best liquid mask? I've tried one major brand in the past and found it to be total rubbish, unusable.
  16. Hmm...well, it didn't let me add the pics....so I tried the text-only and it took. Tried the next post with pics-only and it took, as well. Tried to edit the pics post but wouldn't take the text. It DID take 2 sentences, seems to be the limit so far. Does this just pass with time, or am I now stuck with this as a feature?
  17. Final update before the completed MiG-1. Due to technical problems, I have to post the text first, then the photos. Hope this is fixed soon.... 1) The tires need to be replaced. Normally I use the RPM/Maquette tires to replace the ridiculous "donuts" of the HobbyBoss, but in this case they need to be smaller, and without the diamond tread pattern. I found something close enough in my spares; not sure what they came from, probably a few decades ago, but I used the PE wheel hubs from the Microdisign brass set to cover the middles, and, close enough. 2) The wings DO ne
  18. You mean, you make the post text-only, then go back and edit it to add the photos? Brilliant! Lemme give it a try.... Thank you!
