Tried looking this up and gave up; all I could find referred to the D and F versions, didn't know if that would make any difference.... Would I be correct in thinking an F-100C's cockpit would have been green when first built, but probably redone in gray when in ANG service by the early 1970's?

Snowspeeder (scratch built study model)

Now, THAT is truly impressive!! Wow! -
Somehow I over-ordered, and have these three items NEW AND UNOPENED to offer. Within the USA they can be shipped via a simple (and affordable) stamp (ask for international post price). 1/72 IAI Kfir: - Master Model turned brass pitot tube and AOA sensor (For AMK, but I used one on Hasegawa kit) $6 including shipping within the USA - Eduard Masking set for AMK kit $10 including shipping within the USA Both Kfir items for $15 including shipping within the USA 1/72 F-102: - Master Model turned brass pitot probe (for Meng kit but could be

Most curious. In the mid 90's I was privileged to see the "S-shaped" intake ducts as GE was producing them to go along with the F-118 engines for the B-2. The ducts were a sort of composite material (definitely not top secret material), but the up-and-down curves should have meant that the compressor blades would have been hidden from frontal view, not only by eyes but especially from radar.

Which Sidewinder is this??
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in Jet Modeling
Thank you! Although, see photos at beginning of this post, those appear to be gray. So, it seems both were used. Wonder if it was a timeline issue, or depended on where it was built/overhauled etc? -
Here are screen shots from Iron Eagle (1986). To arm the enemy "MiG-23's" played by IAI Kfirs, they used Sidewinders with no aft fins. Trouble is, from some angles they look like AIM-9D/G class of Sidewinders, and from other angles they look like -9L's. Any thoughts as to which type of AIM-9's these are??

Been trying to research what to use, and I *think* I have an idea but wanted to check. For an Israeli Kfir C2, Gray scheme, circa mid-80's, would I be wanting off-white wells with gray gear legs and gray gear door interiors? And if so, what gray? 36375 like the underside of the aircraft?

Where to find?? I've gone all through my tons of extra/unused decals, and I've got nothing for this. A white-trimmed red "2", preferably as close as possible to style, probably roughly 12, even 13mm tall.... Beggars can't be choosers, I'll be thrilled with anything close enough. Where to find??

Not perfect, just glad it's done. Found this build extremely frustrating, especially the paint. Never was happy with the shades no matter how I mixed (took a couple of years of trying, burn out and wait months, try again, etc). Add to that the closest matches in the end for the green and the gray-violet were from Vallejo - I know lots of folks love this line, but apparently I'm not skilled enough to make it work. Really not a fun experience. Matra LRF1 pods are scratch built after giving up on anyone making these. Also scratchbuilt the cannon, added an aftermarket seat and t

Well, after all this time, I finally gave up looking for LRF1's and made my own. Structure included thick plastic tube, large drinking straw sections (made it just bit closer to the real dimension), AIM-54 nosecones and rocket pod bits (for the rear interior). Did my limited best to approximate markings with white decal striping and white F-4 data.

"Hollywood MiGs" list?
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in General Discussion
Yep, saw that! Although, the F-4's weren't specially marked, just shadowy footage of them passing over. As a teen I used to mock stuff like that, but as a middle-aged guy I realize just how few and poor were the options for the moviemakers. -
"Hollywood MiGs" list?

Just did these screen shots from 1957's "Jet Pilot" (not John Wayne's best film; the total storyline makes the first Top Gun's plot problems look like brilliance). The F-86 seen here was called a MiG in the film, but not specifically a -15 (although in the early 50's when it was filmed, what else could it have been?). It has the tail and wingtips effectively painted with false shapes to hide the Sabre outline, and *seems* to have a yellow hammer/sickle (is it?) on the red tail. I have to say, for the timeframe, I find this quite striking. Question, is it an "A" version of the Sabre? I -

Wow, thanks! Yep, based on the style of the star, that is a VF-126 bird -
When (guessing late 50's) did T-33's start having gray interiors rather than interior green? Wondering about one photographed in 1957, though I'm guessing not a new build, so thinking I should go with green?

"Hollywood MiGs" list?
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in General Discussion
Finally finished screen shots of the 1988 TV miniseries "AMERIKA". I saw one night of it (I was 17) and remembered the Soviet helicopter attack on the outcasts/political dissidents. Please tell me if I've mis-named any of these, as helicopters are not my forte: - 2 x Modified SA 341 Gazelles (both "Blue Thunder" helicopters) - SA Alouette II's (modified with winglets) - Bell H-13 Sioux (think "M.A.S.H.") for the evil Soviet Major's personal mount - note very small, almost invisible "bort number" on the side behi -
Really long shot. I don't suppose decals exist for this F-84F (from the 50's movie "The Hunters") in 1/72? https://www.stuttgart-modellbau.de/blog/2019/09/28/f-84-f-thunderstreak-mig-double-von-italeri-in-148/

"Hollywood MiGs" list?
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in General Discussion
Love it! Those are great, thanks! -
Putting together a list of what I call "Hollywood MiGs," the "art" of taking western planes and having them play Soviet-designed aircraft for TV and movies. I laughed at the efforts as a kid, but now I appreciate how well (and sometimes not-so-well) they did with what they had (some laughable but overall kinda neat). Tell me what I'm missing: FIXED WING: - The Big Lift (1950): P-47D's as Yak fighters - Sabre Jet (1953): F-86A as MiG-15 - The McConnell Story (1955): F-84F as MiG-15 - Iron Petticoat (1956): F-84F as MiG-15
