  1. Thanks, yeah i didn't glue the props on at the time the photos were taken. I was contemplating leaving them loose for packaging or just glue them in. I've since glued them in. Thanks for the info on the doors. I was still wondering why sometimes they are up and sometimes down when parked.
  2. Hi all, here is my latest build. This one wasn't exactly out of the box. I used: - Hasegawa F-14A Atlantic Fleet Squadrons - Revell Nato Pilots - Fine Molds AoA Probe - Fightertown Decals I've burned through atleast 3 F-14 kits all ending in disaster either due to poor paint job or poor fitting. This time I really tried to do this one properly. Started off with the pilots. These pilots from revell are.......terrible! I thought they looked pretty poor. Anyway, I tried to make the best of it. I ordered the Fightertown VF-154 decals as I wanted to do a modern F-14. Since I have the CW CA
  3. Hi, I just finished this P-51B, well almost. Need to finish off the lights under the wings. Anyway, I've always been a fan of Don Gentile. Though I did pass on Corgi's diecast 1/72 rendition. I almost got excited with Hobby Master's diecast announcement until they flopped with the wings, which are obvious to me. So decided to build a kit. Admittedly this kit has been around for ages, but I only recently got into building 1/48 WW2 aircraft. I painted the white bands and the red 'L' shapes on the wings after accidently ruining the decalled flaps. I was wanting to spray a flat coat on the flaps
  4. Just recently put the finished this model. This model was released to celebrate 30 yrs since Star Wars opened in Japan. Its a nice small kit, very easy to put together. Unfortunately the solar panels are not separate, so its a quite a bit of masking involved. The kit also comes with a standing and seated Darth Vader figure. It turns out to be a really small model compared to TIE Fighter.
  5. Thanks for the tip. I was going to just use magnets glued to the ends of acrylic rods. But then it does spin a bit if its at an angle. In level flight, its pretty stable.
  6. Yeah I found it confusing to get accurate markings. Especially for red 2.
  7. Here is Red 3, piloted by Biggs Darklighter:
  8. Hi, recently finished a couple of X-wings. One was completed for a friend. As I've already done a Red 5, I chose to do Red 2 and Red 3. I really like the Fine Molds line of Star Wars models. Here is Red 2, piloted by Wedge Antilles Here is Red 2, piloted by Wedge Antilles
  9. Thanks all, I bought the magnets from Ebay. It was the easiest place for me. I got some magnets from the local hardware store and they weren't anywhere near strong enough. That being said, I was able to use 1 magnet inside the TIE Interceptor because it was light. The Y-Wing was much larger and with balancing issues so I used 4 inside stacked on top of each other. But then if I were to build this again, I'd have to add another to hold it in position. At the moment, it would cling to an acrylic rod that had a magnet on it, but it would also spin depending on the angle. For the paints, I used
  10. Hi, I just finished a couple of Star Wars models. These are really great kits. I really wish Finemolds would do the A-Wing, B-Wing, TIE Bomber and the Star Destroyer. I find the TIE kits are the easiest kits I've ever made. The only problem, I find the colours they recommend aren't working out for me. Neither the colours they recommend for the Y-Wing. Maybe its my eye sight :wacko:/>/>/> I thought the colour suggested for the TIE Interceptor was too dark. So I mixed my own colour of what I thought the colours should be. I also thought the Y-Wing looked a lil creamy white than the
  11. Oh, I thought they would only take 'Iwata' compressors. I''ve never bought a compressor before. Is there anything I should look out for? I plan to use this to paint my model planes.
  12. I live in Australia, but I don't mind importing if the price is right. That being said, haven't exactly set a budget yet as I don't know what good ones go for and everything in Australia is over-priced compared to everywhere else. Though would it be reasonable to aim for a $500 budget?
  13. Hi, I've just ordered an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS. I'm looking to get an aircompressor for it as well. What air compressor would you recommend and why?
  14. Hi guys, didn't want to start a new thread about priming, but i've been wondering, what is the best technique to applying primer? I tend to put on a kind of heavy 1-2 coats with Mr.Surfacer 1200 because I'm afraid I won't get a smooth solid surfacer. But then sometimes the coat is so heavy that it kind of pools at the lower areas. I've been looking at the models in progress pics and they all seem to have a very even and smooth coat. How is this achieved? Is it by misting? I'm kind of worried if I try misting, it will leave the surface with just millions of little specks instead of a smooth
  15. I'm using Gunze and Tamiya Acrylics and Tamiya masking tape. How do I apply the CA Accelerator? Firstly, what is it? do I apply it before the masking tape?
  16. Thanks, the main reason I want to mix with gloss paint is I find that if I try to mask gloss paints, it leaves some masking tape residue which I hope I can avoid if I mix the different paints.
  17. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows, if you mix gloss paint with clear semi-gloss, would it make the colour semi gloss? or if mixed with clear flat, would it make the gloss colour become semi-gloss/flat?
  18. Thats how its coming out for mine too, but pics of say VF-103 planes have the upper surface looking darker and 'bluer' than the other greys. Does it use a different gunze colour for it?
  19. Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I'm using Gunze H337 for FS 35237. However, it comes out grey as opposed to blu-ish grey as seen on the later schemes of Tomcats. Is this the correct colour? or do I have to adjust it?
  20. Did you mix it with blue or something? It looks a little more bluish than when I use those colours. Though looks a lot like tamiya's spray paint of the same colour
