  1. Thats a great pic. I haven't had much luck finding good color WW2 pics. I love building Spits and one reason is because of the lack of panel lines to worry about. There's something about panel line washes that makes models look more detailed even though most planes did not have them to the effect most people depict. I like the way it looks so I still do them, but I try to pick a color thats very subtle and then thin it down quite a bit so that it sinks down to the bottom of the crack leaving just a hint of color. I'm no expert by any means and have never won a contest, its just what I like to
  2. Throughout recent history the russians(and I meant to not capatalize that) have stolen most of "there" technology from the U.S.. Its plain to see in the numerous carbon copies of various planes they have built. Its amazing to me that someone makes a simple comment pointing out some things he's noticed about a picture and all of the sudden I'm being questioned about my grammar and my expertise in the field of stealth and aviation technology. Jeez, I build models, besides I said I was no expert. I figured that would have been a clue that I was wanting to hear some comments about the things I men
  3. I found a few more pics and it doesn't look like it has much of an internal weapons bay either.
  4. I'm no expert, but it doesn't look that stealthy, but the F-35 doesn't either. It also doesn't appear to have the radar absorbing coatings that the F-22 and F-35 have that I think are a lot of what makes them stealths. Don't know why but I was kind expecting something better, especially with them stealing all there technology from you know who. I've heard China was coming up with something that would give us a run for our money, but it'll probably turn out the same way, mediocre.
  5. I'm still not real great at fixing bad seams, I do OK with it but I just can't do it perfectly like I would want to on a kit that expensive. There's a rough fitting seam on my Academy 1/48 F-16C where the intake attaches to the rest of the fuselage that just wasn't the same shape. I had to put a little backer piece in there and do some sanding and rescribing , but it came out good, I just finished it last night and I'm pretty happy with it. It'd just be nice to not have to trim flash and fill in corners of pieces that I guess didn't recieve a full dose of plastic. The detail on my kit is prett
  6. Hey Gerald, I was reading the article and was wondering where part 2 is?
  7. Just wondering how much you guys thin your Testors Gloss and Flat coats. Being clear I have a hard time determining just how thin it is. I've been doing about 50/50 but my last coat turned out pebbly in places, probably just too far away, but I'd still like to know how much you guys thin yours.
  8. Thanks guys, for me fit is first and foremost so as usual Tamiya wins again. I used to go cheap and I've found that I spend so much time on models now days that a little extra up front is worth it just to get out of the pain in the butt stuff that cheaper kits cause you to have to deal with. Wow, that was a long sentence. Do you think its a run-on?
  9. Hey guys, I'm building a 1/48 Academy F-16C right now and I'm not too impressed. I was wondering about there new 1/32 Sufa. Is it as good as a Tamiya or should I spend the extra dough. I know Tam doesn't make this exact version, but I just want a 1/32 F-16 so thats not a big deal. I do like that Israeli camo though.
  10. OK, I guess thats a no go. I found some cool St.Louis Cardinals World Series decs for a C, but I already have a E. Thanks!
  11. Hey guys, What are the main differences visually in the F-15C and F-15E?
  12. What is the hottest, nastiest decal setting solution you can get?
  13. Continuing in my search of decals for Arkansas related pilots I came across the famous Jimmy Thatch, born in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Three Guys Replicas made a set with his decs in it #48-012. If anyone can help with these or knows of any others please let me know, thanks!
  14. Hey guys, its me again. I'm still putting together my collection of WW2 planes with Arkansas ties. Found out that Aeromaster made these 48-323A and Superscale made them 48-879. If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks!
  15. Man, I thought I'd get a hit for sure on this one. I guess the right person just hasn't come across it yet.
  16. I love all the cell phone commercials that take up probably about 70% of all advertising. It cracks me up that over the past 10+ years that I've had a cell phone I haven't noticed an improvement in cell phone reception at all. As a matter of fact, the last phone that I tried to buy I had to take back the next day because it was the worst phone I've ever had, and it replaced the cheapest phone that they made when I bought the phone a couple of years earlier. Can u hear me now a-holes? Quit advertising your product like its the best ever when its merely a new gimicky piece of crap. Rant over, si
  17. Hey guys whats up. I was hoping that someone out there could help me find these decals. Cam Decals 48-102, I believe they contain an F-4E named "Arkansas Traveler". If you can help please let me know. Thanks.
  18. As part of my quest to acquire Arkansas related decals I came across Arkansas' leading ace Pierce McKennon. Cutting Edge put out a decal sheet some years back in 1/48 and 1/24. I'm mainly looking for the the 1/48 but if all else fails I'd be happy with the 1/24. The #'s are 48113 for the 1/48 and 24001 for the 1/24. Any help you guys can give me is much appreciated. Thanks. I've got Arkansas decs now for the B-26 Marauder, A-10, F-16C, P-38 and a 1/72 B-58. I don't know if they were ever made but there were also a P-47 and B-24 with the name Arkansas Traveler.
