  1. Well almost finished, just the pesky life raft cans and about another 30 aircraft and 200 figures. 1/350 USS Kitty Hawk, Trumpeter kit
  2. WOW, beautiful finish. It all looks amazing, but that intake is awesome.
  3. Wish I knew the exact fs number but they are a flat green and fairly dark, I was at Yeovil where they assemble them and Merlins seem to have the same colour blades, probably why the Cormorant got green ones instead of black. Do a google search " CH 149 Cormorant rotor blade and go to images you will see a bunch that show the green blades. Funny thing is the toy like die cast collector models have black blades. Way back in the early 2000s near the start of Cormorant in active service we had bad troubles with the tail rotors half hub developing cracks and had to take blades off every 25 flyin
  4. Great build of a crappy kit, I tried it once and gave up. Bit of a late to the party critique, the blades are green. I know this by the probably hundreds of blades I removed or installed in 13 years as an Aviation Tech working on this machine.
  5. Awesome finish, you are right painting white sucks. I have seen these birds numerous times as they were overhauling them at IMP aerospace at the Halifax airport.
  6. I don't care if it is one pic or a hundred. Post what you want to and if they really feel the need to see more then they can buy the magazine. If you don't just continue on you way and be happy.
  7. Truly stunning.........not normally a Red Star fan...but WOW..........makes me want to try to build one (but it wouldn't look nowhere near this fantastic) Excellent work
  8. As someone who has met Harv, at 14 wing Greenwood and seen his work first hand, I am floored by his collection. I knew he was an avid builder but these kits amaze me. I worked on the Labrador and Herc and he made models for sale of our birds that were so detailed it was crazy. His level of detail cannot possibly be shown by these few pics. Just the interior detaling of his Labrador helicopter (well they are both Voyagers in the pics...LOL) was amazing. Then when I switched to maintaing the CH 149Cormorant helicopter(EH 101 Merlin) he would come by to examine the new aircraft for his mode

    Fw 190 question

Thanks to all for the answers and nice comments. I just got back into airplane modeling last summer after a 25 or so year hiatus. Things have changed greatly since my last attempt so many years ago, especially my eyesight, but with the inspiration of all the great models I see built here, I have a lot to aim for in future kits.

    Fw 190 question

I have the loop antenna.....I assumed the loop antenna was a direction finding antenna....but am not really sure. There was 5 versions you could build with this kit....2 omitted the loop antenna.

    Fw 190 question

Hi all, just got finished building the wonderful 1/48 Tamiya Fw 190 A8/R2. I was wondering what the long pole like thing is, that sticks down from the bottom of the LH wing ....see the picture below.
  14. I like toad's answer the best. Love the poka dot painting...LOL......I think that by D Day the Allies had such complete air superiority that they could have painted every aircraft bright florescent orange and it wouldn't have mattered, I think they had started the overall aluminum finish by then anyways. Sure the Brits painted a sky band around the tail, but nothing stands out like those yellow noses, maybe it was the German way of intimidating the enemy....heck who know, I just thought it was kind of silly seeing how great their camo was.......It makes for challenging modeling anyways, I'm
