  1. if they are decals ive found that i will float phuture underneat the decal especially on a dull or semi dull surface. finish over with solva set or micro sol then wipe away any remaining phuture with a q-tip and windex. Once dry if the decals have a sheen then brushcoat dullcoat over the top. I personally prefer airbrushing the topcoat cause its more uniform.
  2. check out model car magazine forums or scale model car enthusiast. I remember some time back someone building this with some good detailed pics. Hope that helps

    opposing props

does anyone know where i can find an article on how to create a gearbox for motorized twin opposing props. I could swear at one time someone had an article on a tu-95 with pics but despite looking on googe all i coud find was RC stuff. any help would be great.
  5. all the above suggestion have worked some together some seperate. For really stubborn decals i found solvaset to work well. Airfix decals are really notorious for having problems with conforming or setteling into panel lines. In the case of my 1/72 bae red arrows hawk i found applying future before the decal was placed acts like a stronger glue. Try soaking your decals in hot water as well. This seems to make them a little more flexible. Once applied use your setting solution with a wettened q-tip making sure as to blot or burnish your decal into panel lines. Dont ever scrub, not only w
  6. your biggest problem will be if the decals are light grey against a dark grey surface. That said it would require white or a mixture of white under a dot % of black to get the desired affect. The only printers on the market that can print white to my knowledge is the old alps printers which required a wax like ribbon that worked on a thermal transfer concept. On most laser or injet printers to get various tones its a dot % that overlaps each other. Next time you pick up the paper look at color photos and you'll see what i mean. If your looking to use a darker grey decal over lighter surfa
  7. tip tanks are easy to fab. the engine intakes will be more of a challenge and if i fill the nose i can reshape it too. Was planning on making the 52d which follows the same characteristics. My only problem is finding good photos. Im only working off one right now.
  8. I am going to use the minicraft b-52h kit and modify the tail. I think all in all this will be a great model to represent from the norm of kits out there.
  9. sent you an email thanks
  10. Im hoping someone can help. I am currently in the build process of a b-52 in 1/144 and when i was pulling up research i happended to find that 747 engines were tested on the b-52 airframe. Is there anyone that may have a spare engine that i could have or a casting of one to create this unique subject. All the airlines that i have are in 1/200. and dont really feel compelled to build the airlines that i have over in 1/144. any help would be greatly appreciated. Darren
  11. even though the surface is gloss that the decals are being applied to? This decal has now been on the aircraft for 2 days now will it still work?
  12. I am hoping someone can help. I am currently working on airfix's new 1/72 bae red arrows hawk. The kit itself has gone together without any problems which i was suprised with beautiful recessed detail. My problem is that i have tried to apply a decal to the model and cannot get any setting solutions to soften the decal to "suck down" into the panel lines. I know airfix has always been notorious for bad decals but this looks like a new supplier as opposed from the days of old. The model is of course painted gloss, have used the micro set/ sol, testors decal set for the heck of it, and walt
  13. I only need the sillouete lady with the text written above it. Ive looked on line for the nose art but had no luck. alll the other markings i could generate myself.
  14. I am hoping someone can help me out. I am in the process of building a b-25 in 1/144. I have been looking for the albatros decals that were called dragons, tigers, and girls oh my. My interest is in the shady lady markings with sand color. I was wondering if there is someone out there that may have these decals that has not used that marking or could scan them would be greatly appreciated. One, they are out of print and two, i cant even find a complete image that isnt cut off in profile. can anyone help me out? Thanks
  15. Im currently in a project right now building the new zealand sh-2f/g and ran into a problem. I currently have the model alliance decals and when placed over the correct paint of the main fusealge the decals are supposed to be darker than the main body paint. the problem is that they are just the opposite and are a greenish color and lighter rather than the correct bluish grey and darker. changing the main color isnt an option any more seeing as ive already painted the correct fs color and placed the walkway decals over the top engine nacells. Ive tried to scan the decals in but when trying
