  1. Hi, Can anyone point me to a topic that refers to The Indian Air forces 'Thunderbolts' display Team, ie Talking about the team, making models of them, Colours etc many thanks in advance Tony R
  2. Hi All, This may be a vain hope, but does anyone by any chance have the Instruction / Painting sheet from the Hasegawa 1/72 'Asas de Portugal' T-37 Tweet - and would they be willing to scan and mail me a copy please. I don't think there's any chance of finding the actual kit now, since it's been out of production for many moons, so I guess the next best thing is getting a copy of the instructions and starting from scratch. So, to anyone that has it, thanks in advance..... Tony R.
  3. Hi, Does anyone know if any of the Decal manufacturers plan on producing a sheet of markings for the new UAE aerobatic team 'Al Fusan' (The Knights) - I should think a kit finished in that scheme would make a welcome addition to anyones collection ....... Preferably in 1/72 scale! Tony R :D
  4. Here's a query to ponder . Concerning the PLAAF Aerobatic Team 'August 1st' ... Allegedly, during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the team changed from their normal Blue/White scheme and flew a five ship formation with each aircraft sporting one of the colours of the Olympic Rings ...... Does anyone know if this is 100% correct and are there any pictures taken during that period, that could be posted on this board? . Any help would be most appreciated. TIA ... Tony R
  5. Hi, My defining moment was many moons ago while just a teenager working at a Co-operative, in a small Welsh village in what was then the county of Carmarthenshire. My job was working in the rail sidings loading 1cwt bags of coal from a railtruck. Whilst standing on top of this truckload of coal, I could hear a strange musical note growing in volumn & turned around in time to have three Hawker Hunter jets at what must have been no more than 3-400 ft blast right over my head & into the distance .... Having experienced the famous 'Hunter Howl' that close is something that real
  6. Hi Steve & Mike, Thanks for the help finding this badge. It is indeed the badge of the 552 Bomb Sqn, 386 Bomb Wing which was assigned to the 9th AAF . and that badge is the small device to the lower right! So, question answered with much relief. :) . http://www.box.net/shared/rst8a0pzb6/1/69349695/628883375 Tony R.
  7. Possibly a silly question, (and a sensitive subject!!) Regarding the A26 Invader involved in the Biggin Hill accident. She had a marking on the left hand side of the nose . I wonder if anyone can tell me what it was, and does anyone have a clear picture or drawing of it. Was it some sort of bomb sqn badge? . I have a picture but it's from a distance, and too far to get clear detail. It looks to be a round Yellow disc with a red bomb going from upper right to lower left, and what looks like something sitting (?) on the bomb, with another small device below it to lower right. Any info would be m
  8. Hi Holmes, Does one NEED a knowledge of Aviation to belong to a Modelling Forum?? . Besides, for someone who sent a load of kits to the Antipodies for his brothers, you probably know more than you're letting on!! ...... But THANKS for the welcome, that was most appreciated Tony R
  9. Hi, As a returnee to plastic modelling after a lay-off of many years. I was wondering if anyone on site has any idea if it's still possible to get hold of an Italeri 1/72 Swiss Tiger, I understand it was discontinued some years ago but was hoping I may still be able to obtain one from somewhere. If not, are there any Decal manufacturers that do a sheet covering the Patrouille Suisse markings? . Any info would be much appreciated! Tony R
  10. Thanks Julien, Excellent list you've provided there, very comprehensive. . . . I have a couple of small differences in my d'base that the guy's of the Aerobatics SIG IPMS(UK) could check out for me, if you wouldn't mind. 1) The Black Panthers = CA-27 Sabre : 1962 : RAAF 76 Sqn, Williamtown, NSW - Becoming.. 2) The Red Diamonds = CA-27 Sabre : 1963-66 : RAAF 76 Sqn, Williamtown NSW. 3) The Telstars = Vampire T33's : 1966-1969 : RAAF CFS at Edinburgh, NSW.- Re-Equipping as.. 4) The Telstars = MB326H : 1969-1970 : RAAF CFS at East Sale, Vic. - Making way for... 5) The Roulettes
  11. Sorry Andrew, wrong way round. 76 sqdn at Williamtown formed the 'Black Panthers' in 1962 and carried the Panther insignia on the sides of their aircraft until they disbanded at the end of that year. They then formed the 'Red Diamonds' using the same aircraft but removing the Panther and replacing it with the Diamond and Lightning Flash. They continued to display until 1966. The RAAF did not have another team flying in Australia until No2 OCU formed the 'Marksmen' in 1968 . The Sabres used by the 'Diamonds' included A94-947 and '942' which Julien has chosen to depict .... Hope that helps
