  1. big thanks again - I found this set today and ordered - Flying Leathernecks I will tell you my thoughts when I recieve it - but i was really attracted to the fact you get full stencils for 3 airframes and the reference photo CD. I ordered weapon set D Hasegawa for the GBU-10s and so forth. cheers Mark
  2. Big thanks Ryan and Don ! I will tell you how I get on. cheers Mark
  3. Hi Guys, I need some expertise and advice. I will be building the Hasegawa AV-8b Harrier II Plus kit - PT-28 kit. Im keen for ideas to build as close to accurate of a real subject. I was trying to find decals of aircraft from recent conflicts and operations - OIF, Gulf Afgan. Noticed the two-bobs decal sheet for OIF jets is long sold out unfortunately. So if anyone can give me some ideas for alternatives - that would help. I want to build an aircraft with the accurate load out /weapons so I need some help on that point also. cheers Mark
  4. it doesnt get better ! one of my all time fav aircraft in fact anything YGBSM - WW - just love em ! faultless build and finish - and great to see all these photos of the real deal! cheers Mark
  5. what a stunning build well done ! it looks spot on! cheers Mark
  6. 1) Using a brush and warm water - paint is lifted creating chipped effects try to control the chipping in terms of placing it logically. Also try not to get to carried away - easy to do because this is a fun and easy technique. OK - thats most of the base paint work complete. I am trying to depict the fact that the Dunkelgelb was factory applied and the camo was field applied and possibly more prone to weathering and peeling.
  7. Next steps - 1) application of 2 coats of hairspray and mask the hatch 2) apply the green camo colour 3) apply the red brown camo colour
  8. nice work - the t-80 is my fav ! cheers Mark
  9. First class builds of both prowlers - must have took a lot of work to achieve results from the airfix kit. This a superb carrier diorama. Can I ask how did you build the carrier deck. and also the colour is absolutely perfect ! I gather a dark grey. Which figures did you use? What did you think of the skunk works mule? Is it a good kit. cheers Mark
  10. yeah very nice camo- its coming on a treat! cheers Mark
  11. paint is really becoming much lighter now with these shades, and contrasts against the lower dark hull areas. Shine is added the final highlight colour overall effect of the 4 shades. Final airbrush step is application of the satin varnish This is first time I try this - I think more contrast is required so I may go back with the darker shades. cheers Mark
  12. so the sharp contrast is added with the second paint - AK007 Light Base shading carried out in same manner on the turret the shade AK008 High Light is used to further blend the transition. effect becomes softer as the paint is blended and over sprayed on the top surfaces (the highlights)
  13. Basic Kit built - Dragon Primer is Chaos Black spraypaint - in order to 100% cover all shadow and hard to reach areas. The AK Colour Modulation Set Because of such a dark primer I used AK006 Dunkelgelb Base as starting point. I may use the Dark base for post shade technique later? thoughts? Masks are used to create Color Modulation gradients and contrasts
  14. I know its not etiquitte to bring posts up again - so sorry for that. But I was really impressed with this Don. A really fantastic build log with plenty of details on problem areas - I was just reserching buying the kit. think this has made my mind up. Fantastic finish - really great photos also cheers Mark

  16. drool drool drool ! that is perfect dude ! What is it about these Asian cam schemes and JASDF aircraft ! very nice tight painting - i really like that yellow canopy framing - is that masking or decals ? Great stuff very inspiring Mark
  17. uber cool dude ! I really enjoyed your WIP thread. A real surprise seeing this - you must be very proud. can you send me a link to the JASDF F-15 -- that looks a jaw dropper !! (also) cheers Mark
  18. stunning work there dude ! you have a real rare talent from what i can see. As one of the guys said - I thought also it was airbrushed with all the fine blends and feathers ! you should paint some armour, figures and busts - you would excel at that. cheers Mark
  19. looks very good to me ! I didnt notice cloudy cockpit glass - just thought it was effects for showing dirt and dust. Nicely done. Must say this Tamiya kit -- LOOKS REALLY GOOD ! Its made me want one cheers Mark
  20. excuse Gents ! I saw diorama section - but just realised this is a subset of aircraft section. could moderator please move this to Armour.
  21. OK - Diorama work in progress. ALL comments that can help would be gratefully recieved. Im really trying to develop better groundwork -- I think this needs a bit more, also the grass clumps look a bit to contrived? What do you guys think? I also have some more "touches" to add !!
  22. The more interesting stages. Add the paint damage in a more detailed way using a fine brush. Then using the AK dust product a series of streaks are painted onto the hull. Using the thinner streaks are blended and softened. Oil spills and stains added - I prefer to use a toothpick and stipple this on instead of using a brush. Pigments and oil effects on lower hull How it is so far Im working on tracks and running gear now. The tracks are quite fantastic on this kit - simply clicking together. Using the tamiya nato black airbrushed on as a primer. The track wash is applied. a
  23. thanks again Holmes - im glad you like this wierd piece of armour !! Ok paint is on. Started with a brown black base , then a layer of hairspray, then the sand camo colour, and scrub away with a brush. So this is the initial steps.
  24. im building up an m-60 at the moment - im interested !! USMC Grey Desert Scheme cheers Mark
